The best song from the " On Every Street" album, to me, it is the unofficial goodbye song of Dire Straits, this song fits easily on any of Knopfler's solo albums, a gorgeous blues/jazz song, with a touch of country( the pedal steel guitar in the background), genius.

Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits have really managed to capture that true essence of New Orleans where the 'Je Ne Sais Quoi' collides and mashes up with the 'Laissez Les Bon Temps Roullez' that are the quintessential and inexplicable mixed up and oh so mysterious and dangerous cocktail of Voodoo and Mardi Gras that are endemic to the New Orleans experience! Very nice - and intriguing - indeed!

Medford Oregon post 9/11. Among others, for 10 cents per tape. Spent the next 8 days cross country in a greyhound. God's Blessings and Grace at a difficult time! 🙏

Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits is a genre onto itself

8 years old, sneaking down to my dad's CD sideboard, trying to find the one song he played me when I was even younger. Then I found "On every Street" and it's solo in the end...Planet of New Orleans had to grow on me tho, now it is my absolute favourite Dire Straits song. So timeless...thanks Dad!

It was such a brilliant song when it was released then Mark played it live and it became phenomenal with its stunning solo... One of my favourite DS songs forever!
