Dionne Warwick - Somewhere Lyrics

Someday, somewhere
Well find a new way of living
Will find a way of forgiving
Somewhere
There's a place for us
Somewhere a place for us
Peace and quiet and open air
Wait for us
Somewhere
There's a time for us
Someday there'll time for us
Time together and time to spare
Time to learn, time to care
Someday, somewhere
Well find a new way of living
Will find there's a way of forgiving
Somewhere, somewhere, somewhere
There's a place for us
A time and a place for us
Hold my hand and were half way there
Just hold my hand and I'll take you there
Somehow
Someday, somewhere

Dionne Warwick Somewhere Comments
  1. B.... R....

Incredible! This is the best version in my opinion.

  2. S.... J....

Never heard Warwick sing "Somewhere" but I love the jazzy arrangement and her sterling vocals (per usual).

  3. M.... ....

    Marvelous !

  4. H.... ....

    god shes a genius

  5. U.... J....

She does this on her live album "Decade of Gold" as well as the "Windows of the World" album and I always liked this finger snapping arrangement. I put it right up there with Diana Ross & The Supremes' classic version (from "T.C.B." and "At the Copa") and Roberta Flack's ultra mellow version (from the "Newport Jazz Festival" and "Double Dynamite" Concert with Donny Hathaway), but I would be amiss if I did not mention Dionne also sings this in perfect harmony with Gladys Knight and Patti LaBelle, though it with the traditional arrangement. There is also a post on YouTube with Carole Alston doing the Dionne Warwick version that is pretty faithful to this arrangement.

Tempos de Ouro, Canta Muito( Brasil)

  7. S.... C....

my father's arrangement with the incredible Colin Romoff!

    S.... C....

What a proud moment, a gifted arranger, what an artistic sense.

  8. J.... G....

Near the beginning and at the end of the video it says 'live in concert 2005 tour'.
Why? This performance was obviously from around 1966 or 1967, which is when the song was released.

It's an ad for another video. Put your curser over it and the "X" appears in the upper right hand corner. Click on the X and it will close (disappear).

  9. C.... G....

Not sure why opening credit says, "Dionne Warwick - Live In Concert 2005 Tour (Full)". Must be late 1960s.

  10. S.... G....

    Simply the best singer ever.

  11. P.... D....

    L.... S....

Shes has one of the best voices in the history of recorded music... Riffs ... Runs... Diction... Control... Power... Sings from the gut and could sing anything

    L.... S....

Duck Before You Drown well is have been her entire career. This is nothing new for Dionne to do. She does it all and always had especially live, lol!!!

  14. R.... G....

Dionne Warwick and this arrangement, how lovely, it doesn't get any better than this, Wow!

  15. S.... C....

Brings me back to my West Side Story dancing days!

  16. C.... M....

Pack my bags, I'm going to Heaven. The best.

  17. I.... ....

Besides Warwick's distinctive voice, I love this version for the arrangement; the way they interpolated the theme from "Cool" into the background. Clever and effective. It's like an early version of a mashup. :-)

    I.... ....

IYAMNI D is known for her early mashups..in live performances

    I.... ....

Yes seem like the best of both Somewhere and Cool.

    Wonderful

  20. r.... ....

    Excellent!

  21. S.... W....

Wow. Never thought I'd ever see this unbelievable arrangement (from the Windows of the World album) performed live. Brilliant. Thanks a million for this post.

    S.... W....

Yes... that intro is undoubtedly influenced/or a homage to the score in the classic 1960 movie "Breathless" with Jean-Paul Belmondo and Jean Seberg... a very early 60s vibe...

The riff is a recurring motif in West Side Story from which, as you know, the song is taken. Interesting that it works over the verse of the song, if rather tensely.
