Dion - Spoonful Lyrics

Could fill spoonful of diamonds
Could fill spoonful of gold
Just a little spoon of your precious love
Satisfy my soul

Men lies about it, some of them cries about it
Some of them dies about it, every thing's a fightin' about
The spoonful, that spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful

Could fill spoons full of coffee
Could fill spoons full of tea
Just a little spoon of your precious love
Is enough for me

Men lies about it, some of them cries about it
Some of them dies about it, every thing's a fightin' about it
The spoonful, that spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, yeah

Could fill spoons full of water
Saved them from the desert sands
[?]
Seedy from another man

Men lies, some of them cries about it
Some of them dies, every thing's a fightin' about it
Every thing's criyin' about it
Every thing's, every thing's dyin' about it
Every thing's criyin' about it
Every thing's lyin' about it

[?]
Spoonful, spoonful
All right yeah, dyin' about it
All right yeah, cryin' about it

That spoon, that spoon, that
Little old spoon, little old spoon, little old
Little old spoon, little old spoon, little old spoon
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful
That spoon, that spoon, that spoonful, yeah

Every thing's dyin' about it, hey

Wonderful. Simple in idea but perfect in execution. This song just takes me away.

Dion rocks, and this is great music.

I get that he was a heroin addict, but this is an awful version.

Really Bill? I remember being blown away by hearing this back in the '60s. Our version (The Who) was good, but of course not as good as Howling Wolf, but Dion did a great job here. Listen again, it's atmospheric and moody. Nothing to do with Heroin. This is what he wrote me when I asked him who played on it: PETE to answer your question, I had a birdland Gibson guitar at the time- I turned on the tremolo, I had a bunch of great musicians from the Apollo theater come up to studio A at Columbia records ~like Sticks Evans on drum - Panama Francis on percussion, Milt Tilton on base, buddy Lucas, Chico Wilshire, they all encouraged me to go for it!!! free abandon you know, i’ve always lived there, free expression, when you’re in the middle of a song and you catch that wave, you know exactly who you are:-)
