Dion - Lonely Teenager Lyrics
I wanna go home where I belong
'Cause now I'm just a lonely teenager
When I was sixteen, ran away all alone on a stray
What can I do, what can I say
Now I'm seventeen, still alone
Wondering if I should go home
Or maybe stay out of my own
I'm a lonely teenager
I'd love to go back home where I belong
I know I'll be alright
If I just stay out of sight
'Cause now I'm just a lonely teenager
I'd love to go back home where I belong
I know I'll be alright
If I stay out of sight
I wanna go home where I belong
'Cause now I'm just a lonely teenager, lonely teenager

I just broke up with the girl that I have loved the most in my life, just one hour ago. I was the at the taxi, I've never heard this song before. I wascrying, and wondering If I have done the right thing, beacuse I still love her, but I think this is the best thing for us. What a piece of music.
Cheers for everyone.

A very fine song, rarely heard these days.
I love Dion's songs, but I do not know much about it. There is not much on the internet
either. Somebody tell me other singers and groups of the time with similar songs
Dion has been around for years he had hits like this one and the wanderer and I wonder why and the majestic (dance song) he began singing in the streets in the Bronx new York as a kid with the Belmont's and the del Vikings and in 1959 he was invited to tour with buddy holly and Ritchie Valens on the Winter Dance party he was scheduled to be on that plane with Holly the night holly was killed but he gave his seat up to Ritchie and rode on the bus with the Belmont's on the tour and we know what happened that night his career went from 1959 to 1968 his last hit was Abraham Martin and John he had a heavy drug and booze problem but 1968 he gave it up and went through The 12 step program and through his strong faith in Jesus Christ has not touched a drop of booze or drugs in 51 years he has had a career in gospel music as well and he knows his Bible too
I can hear some Violent Femmes in this one!

Where I belong
'Cause now I'm just a lonely teenager

Now I'm 17 still alone
Wondering if I should go home

Just let me go back home)
I'd love to go back home (back home)

My grandpa Sal wrote this song. (: I love it so much it reminds me of him even though he sold it to Dion.
+Jedi Jazzy I believe you :) So cool!
+Jedi Jazzy Ah, don't listen to Tom; it wouldn't make sense for someone to make this claim about such an obscure song anyway. Still a good song, of course.
That's cool!
Jedi Jazzy That's super cool!! This song is amazing!!
tom , believe him or not , it's an interesting story.
DION AND THE BELMONTS ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

No Autumn, I grew up in the 60's and at that time the Motown Songs were # 1 all across the US and especially the Midwest and 95% of the singers were Black! God I would love to go back to them days!
Yep...they were..best days of my life and I was just a small kid.
I would bet my friend Cynthia---the Queen of Oldies, would really enjoy this one. Nice tune for sure.
Wonderful song from Dion.. Boy we use to dance to this all the time..

What a great tune! Right after The Belmonts, and right before Donna Prima Donna in 1960. Man he was the best! Wish I could go back in time to visit that part of history! Thaks for posting!

Loved the Dion.
Merry Christmas to all!!
Love Dion's voice! :) <3
His songs are so great and really relatable which makes you appreciate them even more. :)
Perfect freshman college song.
This is the first song I ever heard from Dion when I was just a kid. My step sister (6 years older than me) loved him, so I pretended not to like him! When she moved out I started buying all his records!
LuAnn, I remember your father very well! Not only from the old neighborhood but when he was singing with Tony Caroleo on Williamsbridge Road (I did some background artwork for them.) My love to him!
Please include The Belmonts in your title. He didn't do this alone. Thanks.
What about The belmonts?
@musemorris For sure an exceptional vocalist, that's my Dad, Carlo Mastrangelo. Take care, LuAnn Mastrangelo
@Medina29able So glad to hear that, Medina. I love them, too! Take care, LuAnn Mastrangelo (daughter of Carlo Mastrangelo)
@KauaiIsLove Thank you, Jock. I think they're great, too! Take care, LuAnn Mastrangelo
@crazypsychOweirdO2 Thanks so much. Take care, LuAnn Mastrangelo
@soundproductions1 Yes they should be. Thank you so much for that awesome comment. Take care, LuAnn Mastrangelo (daughter of Carlo Mastrangelo)
@NaiJorJul Your being only 18 is just is awesome! Thank you so much for keeping my Dad's music alive. Take care, LuAnn Mastrangelo (daughter of Carlo Mastrangelo)
@VincentTPackhorse The backing vocals were most likely done by the Anita Kerr Singers. (Possibly with Betty Jayne on backing vocals since Betty Jayne also recorded a version of this song).
@obamabasher1 hey idiot ass.. You do know in the 30s, 40s, 50s, there was a huge amount of immigration to the United States. Everyone was sliding their "slimey asses" under the borders, coming in illegally. But hey sure, reminisce about the "golden days". What an idiot.
Heard this in the '70s on a '50s show where the DJ (Gasp,)--took requests and didn't just play the same 100 or so songs. since then, I've been told this song never existed, and exhorted by morons in music stores to buy "Teenager in Love." not that I dislike that song, but it got played to death when I was in a musical group.
Thx for posting song--I haven't heard this in almost 20 years.
I want to start an Oldies radio station here in my town, I'm only 18 so it will probably be awhile before i can start it. but still.
So great to have Dion, Fred, Angelo AND Carlo's music still around to enjoy.Yes, it's hard to find on the radio anymore. Outstanding harmonies that influenced so many other doo wop groups and the British & American rock bands of the 60s and 70s who would follow. Saw Dion and his band in Denver a few years back and they rocked the house! Belmonts solo work is also outstanding! They too should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
LuAnn! I've always wondered if Johnny Mastrangelo (A.K.A. Johnny Maestro) was your father's brother, cousin, et al. Not to worry, LuAnn, Carlo has a legacy all of his own! A truly exceptional vocalist! Thank you so much!
@d0gwalker1
LuAnn,
I have enjoyed your dad's music since the late 1950's! I still have his first LP "Presenting Dion and the Belmonts" - played it many many times..... particularly back then!!
God bless and keep you.,..and your dad!!
Jock Bethune
I was a pre-teen back in those days. My 6th grade teacher, Mrs. Callison, who was only 10 years older than us, liked that song. She would be 71 now and I bet she's still a babe.
@56kanaka That is so awesome. Thanks, LuAnn Mastrangelo (daughter of Carlo Mastrangelo)
@crazypsychOweirdO2
Thank you all for keeping my Dad's music alive. It means the world to us. Take care, LuAnn Mastrangelo (daughter of Carlo Mastrangelo)
@hugheglinton Boy that was a long time ago! Finished 35 years, retired 1996.
