Songs are like bookmarks in the chapters of our lives. This song was the first Christmas song that I can actually remember hearing, from the funeral of a young man who died shortly before Christmas, many years ago. I remember hearing it as I approached his coffin in the church and looking up at the statue of Jesus on the cross...in my grief, anger and sorrow I had so many questions directed towards the divine. I needed to understand, I just wanted the pain to stop and I didn't know how it would ever be better....it was a cornerstone in my life, and the first step on my journey to find my Creator. I can now look back and see that it was a necessary experience for bringing me closer to God.
