Now I realize why Tim Ripper went on with Dio Disciples...he incarnate Ronnie better than any other singers.

I have high respect for Ripper. Quite the vocalist.

Tim is such a great man and a great defender of true heavy metal.

In regards to a lead singer comparable to Ronnie James, there's also Joey Belladonna of Anthrax fame. Ever seen this video ?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSjyNfabHxU  There's a reason why Ronnie toured with these guys as often as he did. He respected them.

Best album by Dio by far!

My opinion ? The pinnacle of Ronnie's solo discography was Lock Up the Wolves, Strange Highways, Angry Machines, Magica, Killing the Dragon, and Master of the Moon. Yes, he had a few hits off of his earlier albums, but his later albums were almost flawless from track to track.

Been thinking about uploading a bit more off of this album. My main concern has been possible YouTube copyright strikes against me, but I believe I've thought of a work around. It goes something like this ... If I upload additional tracks from this album and include text comments in the video telling factoids about Ronnie's career, it would be considered an " educational video " which would therefore give me a grounds for appeal should YouTube try to flag my music uploads. Follow what I'm saying ? Truth be told, any YouTuber uploading music from albums should be able to use the same approach and YouTube rightfully shouldn't be able to do anything about it. Don't know if you've listened to any of my DC4 uploads, but YouTube can't touch me on those because I had direct approval from Rowan Robertson ( once a DIO guitarist ). They flagged me on one of them, but once I informed them that I had approval directly from Rowan they contacted him and he essentially told them to back off. Rowan's an online friend of mine and is such a super nice guy.

Indeed it is. Then again, there isn't a solo album Ronnie ever came out with that I didn't like. I LOVE !!! Master of The Moon, but the very first song off of it I uploaded to YouTube administration threatened me with a strike so I had to remove it.

+william elliott Both are fantastic albums. I'm very partial to Magica too. It's a concept album which would make for a very good film if directed and produced correcty, imo. Excellent storyline.

Half of this album is crap IMO. Magica is the best one and Strange Highways is awesome, too.

That said, there is a reason Holy Diver is such a classic. Not that far.

This one is one of his best. Strange Highways is by far his worse. Magica is a back to his roots album and it was awesome. Also Killing The Dragon is very close to both Magica and Angry Machines but loses at the finish line. For me the best albums from Dio are a) Dream Evil b) Holydiver c) Last In Line d) Master Of The Moon e) Magica f) Angry Machines g) Sacred Heart h) Killing The Dragon i) Strange Highways. Oops, I missed one of the really great ones. This is Lock Up The Wolves and it should be second or most possibly third behind Holydiver. Phew..lol

Wow so much hatred here. Wel dio has influenced a lot of musicians and will always b remembered! He was one of the first metal musicians!

Such a great album. The only reason it was badly reviewed, was because of the decline and neglect of heavy metal at the time. It is a kickass, solid Dio album. I love it.

even more..is a great allbum in many aspects like drums tune up..the sound of the guitar and bass too
