Love lou and J, but lou isnt in J's league in song writing or talent, not taking anything away from Lou he is one of my favs, But he isnt J Mascis

Stepped up? Lou Barlow is a much better songwriter than J mascis imo and has been putting out good shit pretty consistently for 25 years.
Lou writes some interesting stuff, but many of the words J has written are transcendental, describing things that people don't have the words for but feel all the time. I think that's genius.
Interesting but not so interesting that I don't skip over his contributions. He doesn't have the melodies unfortunately and he knows he's best off under Mascis's wing.

lou stepped his songwriting back up a notch on this album. Every track he put forward is very solid.
fantastic track, shoulda been on the album proper!
picked up this 7" at Bloomington, IN show. Talked to Murph and he said Lou had a few songs written but this is the one that made the cut. J also thinks Lou should write more songs...I really like Ricochet and think it would have made a good halfway mark on the LP "bet on sky"
