Huh... never heard this song before today, but it's great! A crossword clue today was 'Feel the Pain', so I re-discovered that song, and that led me to this one. Kinda makes me miss the 90s. (Answer was "ACHE' for my fellow nerds)

I love this song so much. the melody, the rhythm, and his voice all come together to make a certain melancholy I feel an affinity with.

+bob loblaw j's dad died around the time this record was written, and i think the 'you're not gonna get me through this are you' part might have something to do with that. a lot of j's love songs deal with disappointment, miscommunication and alienation, especially in regards to the early part of a relationship before trust is established. once he got married and settled down the same themes are still there but in the context of a steady relationship.

This album was largely written with his ex in mind - Uma Thurman. So the story goes, anyway... google around...
