Dillinger Escape Plan, The - Understanding Decay Lyrics

Drag the knife across the skin
Tempted to succumb
Carving fervor into flesh
Holy we’ve become
Turning lips to everyone
Giving heart to none
Running backwards erasing time
Seek the fire but never die

The cradle wipes blood red fresh
And through you the host has chosen a name
The cradle wipes blood red fresh
And through you the host has chosen a name
Call the name out
Call the name out
Call the name out
Call the name out

I’ll never be like you
Late to my own funeral
I’ll never be like you
Late to my own funeral
We’ll never be so late like you to our funerals
I’ll never be like you
Late to my own funeral
We’ll never be so late like you to our funerals

Push decay inside me for then I can open all the passages into the world
Push decay inside me for then I can open all the passages to other worlds
Push decay inside me for then I can open all the passages into the world
Push decay inside me for then I can open all the passages to other worlds

Push decay inside me for then I can open all the passages into the world
Push decay inside me for then I can open all the passages to other worlds

Dillinger Escape Plan, The Understanding Decay Comments
  1. B.... ....

I'LL...NEVER BE.. LIKE YOU... LATE. TO. MY. OWN. FUN-ERAL!

  2. x.... ....

i hear some Current Value at the start of this track! awesome!

  3. N.... B....

    Perfect...... absolutely fuckin perfect

  4. D.... L....

Is it just me or is the part starting at 1:01 one of the greatest things ever?

    D.... L....

I live for riffs like 0:44

    D.... L....

    You're correct

    D.... L....

    Everyone here is correct

  5. d.... ....

Favorite DEP song. The ending is pure evil.

  6. E.... H....

This song is Turing complete! It's just perfect. And you can't turn the volume high enough!

  7. D.... S....

Dillinger Escape Plan goes for the throat and WON"T LET GO!  Their music
has become the soundtrack of my life simply because I can't get them out of
    my head.

  8. 4.... ....

One of my favorite songs right now

  9. K.... ....

This quickly became another favorite on this album. I've been listening to this song like it's the last chance I'll get, haha!

  10. C.... ....

    rediculous

    C.... ....

    Ok, bye

  11. f.... ....

Glad you liked it. Progressive metal and Mathcore are arguably the best genres ever made. There's a lot of bands that do something new, takes notes from many other genres, and has some of the most talented musicians in the industry. I listen to everything, but no other genre really can compare to the feeling i get when listening to this type of music.

  12. M.... ....

    CALL THE NAME OUT !!!!

  13. O.... ....

While I'm not sure that any DEP album will ever top Calculating Infinity in my mind, this one is pretty damn close, Considering I was rather disappointed with Ire Works, that comes as a pleasant surprise.

  14. m.... ....

Good list. Obzen and Jane doe take the cake for me but...i enjoy almost everything else you posted

  15. f.... ....

    personally, I recommend
Sikth: Death of a Dead Day
    Protest the Hero: Kezia, Fortress
Coverge: Jane Doe, Petitioning the Empty Sky
and of course, listen to more Dillinger
Don't know if they are mathcore, but these also got
    unique time signatures
    Meshuggah: Obzen
    Atheist: Unquestionable Presence
    Cynic: Traced in air, Focus

  16. n.... k....

3:30 i had same kind of experience when i saw T-rex fart! first i was like WTF then i started laughing then i thought that was the most boner making thing i've ever heard

  17. R.... S....

    3:30 - 3:48
    SUPER EARGASM

  18. l.... ....

    New Erections by The Locust

  19. R.... S....

    THAT LAST PART! HOLY SHIT

  20. C.... G....

Are you kidding me? The ending section is the best by far.

  21. C.... ....

    Jojo's the man!

  22. C.... R....

We Are the Romans by Botch

  23. z.... ....

What are the must-hear mathcore albums?

  24. C.... R....

    try also Jojo Mayer ;)

  25. t.... ....

When I first heard these guys, I hated it. Now this just gives me mondo boners.

  26. C.... ....

    Billy Rymer..

    HOLY.

    FUCKING.

    SHIT.

  27. J.... A....

I love pierce the veil dude
and i also love tdep :)

  28. D.... ....

One of the few bands left making exciting music.

  29. J.... P....

I hear an excess of time signatures

  30. A.... P....

    I hear echos of finch

  31. T.... M....

DEP just keeps transcending itself with every release. Amazing \m/

  32. G.... T....

People disliked this because this doesn't have generic breakdowns like most of the Sumerian Records bands. Don't bash on this because there is still a shit load of amazing bands from this label.

  33. V.... M....

    1:24-2:02 = sex

  34. m.... ....

    0:00 - 0:18 jojo rymer

  35. X.... Z....

    well that wass....interesting.

  36. P.... ....

this is probably my favourite off the new album. amazing song.

although i thought the chorus went, "the wolf has chosen me." which i thought was positiviely badass.

but the lyric is, "through you the host has chosen a name." :(

  37. T.... S....

The ending of this song is the killer.

  38. s.... ....

    my personal favorite.

  39. m.... ....

2;25 part sounds like Tomahawk. I love when puciato channels his Patton style croon.

  40. T.... S....

I was just thinking this the other night while I was listening to this song for like the 20th time!

  41. n.... ....

holy smoke I'm going to have to buy me a copy of this thing

  42. V.... M....

this ending is awesome.. but i think the ending to the song i attached by them is infinitely heavier....
    watch?v=4DR7PEIGIyY

  43. A.... Y....

Holy crap this is pretty good

  44. C.... S....

this albums fucking blowing my mind so far holy fuck how can a band makes this music its perfect

  45. J.... E....

Yeah, I was. Some of their sampling reminds me quite a bit of Slipknot, which I love.

  46. F.... ....

The outro is the best part because the song is ending.

    F.... ....

    What a bitch ass comment

  47. A.... F....

Anyone reminded of Slipknot's Eyeless? Not saying Dillinger are copying as such, sounds more like a respectful nod.

  48. R.... T....

This album is so tits. Rymer is insane.

  49. S.... ....

Absolutely lovely, such a filthy good track . Someone, please, pass the Palmolive!!

  50. E.... A....

It sounds like they had an awesome night in bed with Animals As Leaders. Sick!

  51. A.... P....

This is one of the most talented bands/artists/musicians of this time.
When hear "noise" I hear EVERY SINGLE NOTE. :]

  52. S.... K....

You listen to Pierce The Veil

  53. S.... K....

    YEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  54. g.... ....

Does anyone notice the vague Farewell, Mona Lisa musical reference around the 2:15 mark of this song? I don't know if it was intentional or not...either way, it sounded similar to it in my opinion.

  55. M.... ....

Billy Rymer cannot be fucked with. I didn't know how he'd top his performance on Paralysis, but he did it fucking easily.

  56. M.... T....

Yeah, that ending is probably the heaviest thing they have done!

  57. l.... d....

wow this outro is fcking intense

  58. C.... S....

favorite on the album. reminds me alot of calculating

  59. M.... ....

This is easily one of the best albums I've heard in a long time.

  60. C.... W....

    This album kicks ass

  61. t.... ....

1:00-2:15 one of the best parts of the whole album
