Dillinger Escape Plan, The - Gold Teeth On A Bum Lyrics

Don't see you ever do without
Leper
Forced to feel pitiful, and how clever
You call him pretty and blessed child
Blessed
Now see how the pretty boy runs wild
Wild
It's just an ordinary day
I know how to fix you if you come my way

You are the proud and simple man
Simple
Now run as fast as I know you can
You can
Trick me with your deaf, dumb and blind
Dumb and
Feigned hero daily disguise
Disguise

It's just like every other day
But I know how to fix you should you come my way
Pull out your teeth and stare
With your hands at your share
Pull out your eyes and stare
With your hands at your share

You call him pretty and blessed child
Blessed
Now see how the pretty boy runs wild
Wild
It's just an ordinary day
I know how to fix you if you come my way
It's just like every other day
But I know how to fix you should you come my way
Pull out your teeth and stare
With your hands at your share
Pull out your eyes and stare
With your hands at your share

You are the first one to fall down
You are the first one to cry foul
You are the first one to point the blame
You are the last one
Last one to feel ashamed

Couldn't you help me so that I may believe?
Couldn't you show me so that I may be saved?

Dillinger Escape Plan, The Gold Teeth On A Bum Comments
  1. .... ....

ну бля, ребята, ну честно... сделайте громче)

  2. m.... s....

This is my favorite non-standard Dillinger song.

  3. J.... W....

Greg voice is shot the fuck out, and they still kill.

  4. G.... H....

WHY CAN I NOT BUY THIS

  5. D.... D....

stick to the slow sound! the grunge sound! once they go fast they sound like shit!! horrible!!

  6. c.... b....

Greg must have a huge boner for Mike Patton. He just gives off the vibe. Of course the ep that DEP did with Mike Patton probably influenced the band too.

  7. C.... ....

The drumming at the end is fucking nuts.

  8. R.... P....

stop doing the grooves. go back to under the running board

  9. R.... P....

old dillinger is lol... not the same

  10. P.... S....

    0:39 "The PewDiePie runs wild"

  11. 8.... ....

I'm going to miss these guys so fucking much

  12. X.... ....

this is a slightly different version, but still studio? HUH?

    X.... ....

It's not studio, it's audio taken directly from the mixing desk, otherwise known as a soundboard recording. That way there's no crowd noise and minimal room distortion, just direct sound.

  13. z.... ....

from around 43 seconds it slightly reminds me of "hate to feel" by alice in chains

  14. L.... L....

    old dep way better

    L.... L....

Cool, man. And here's the thing, Greg is actually a really talented singer. Huge vocal range and his stage presence is tight too. But here's another thing, he sounds constipated when he screams, Constipated. His clean vocals is where he shines, really. And he knows that so I think that's why he keeps writing more melodic, slowed down songs. But see therein lies the problem. That's not the purpose of a band like DEP. If we wanted to hear pop punk or bar rock we could tune into millions of other bands out there who do that. And I feel like he's responsible for turning the band into something they're not. I think he wanted to make the band more popular and he did that to some extent but they're still not super famous by any means. And that's because they're far too chaotic. So then what's the point of going down that poppy road? This type approval seeking is not what DEP was all about in the beginning. That's not what what made CI one of the most groundbreaking metal albums of all time. They just didn't give a hoot what anyone thought of them. But it feels like with each new release they're trying too hard to be accepted into a world that doesn't appreciate them. So that's why they music sounds so disjointed, and quite frankly, mediocre. I never thought DEP would be just another run of the mill rock band that you see on MTV. But you see, MTV never cared for them to begin with. I think the singer needs to start a new side project or something. Or the guitarist should start one too. See if they can freshen things up a bit. Man, it's just so sad to see this band robbed of its full potential.

    L.... L....

I don't think there's anything wrong with Greg's screams usually. A bit inconsistent in this clip, but still some great parts. Those high screams at 2:15 were really good, and probably something that Dmitri couldn't have done. Sure they changed the sound around and became more poppy. But you can only make 1 Calculating Infinity. If they'd just stayed on that path then the impact of that sound would have worn out. People were expecting more of the same, so by softening up and making some more accessible music they kind of threw an unexpected curveball.

    L.... L....

As if there wasn't a ton of spazzy shit on Option Paralysis, and every other DEP album. Why would you consciously complain about the select songs that are different from the old formula, when the majority of the albums are what you as a fan want to hear? As for Greg ruining the band, you should know by now that the songs are all written by Ben. always. Greg has the least input of all and only starts arranging vocals when the instrumentals are complete.

    L.... L....

finowa complaning on a random video I found hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. the world is small, the internet doesn't help, I'm drunk. Have a good night mah man

    L.... L....

+Luis Leon I love everything they've put out.. So I would say that all of DEP is good and that the old DEP is neither better or worse

  15. E.... R....

Trop fort you should come in Québec city at the festival d'été

  16. .... ....

This song is very relaxing one!!!I like it!!

  17. K.... K....

I love the grunge feeling to this song <3

  18. J.... B....

Prima metto mi piace .. Poi L' ascolto !

    J.... B....

È così che va fatto ;)

  19. L.... J....

The chorus sounds like Alice In Chains.

    L.... J....

    Lee J ...lil bit..

    L.... J....

    S O U N D G A R D E N

  20. B.... M....

Is it me or does this song sound like something Kurt Cobain would play and sing if he were still alive today? It does have that grunge feel.

    B.... M....

@welshmouse Nirvana was very simplistic. This is very complex and polyrhythmic stuff. Kurt Cobain might have enjoyed it, but I doubt he would have fully understood it. All he knew how to do was strum power chords and write angsty lyrics.

    B.... M....

    @Ethan Sturgill
You don't need to know how to play it to love the music. Myself and a million other Dillinger fans are proof of that.
I'm not arguing that Dillinger aren't massively more talented as musicians, but Nirvana deserve credit too. One being amazing doesn't mean the other isn't.

    B.... M....

Reminds me more of Alice in Chains

    B.... M....

    I hear almost no resemblance...

  21. T.... ....

The end of the song sounds exactly like the end of "Parallel Universe" by Red Hot Chili Peppers, just saying

    T.... ....

    Lol I can hear that.

  22. S.... F....

It's just like every other day, but I know how to fix you*
    ❤️

  23. S.... ....

0:36 "and pewdiepie runs wild" XD

  24. c.... ....

Whoa, Just pire fucking magic man.

  25. k.... ....

Greg came into a pub I was working at and asked me what the rules were for tipping in the UK, so I bought him and his woman a beer.

  26. E.... B....

dillinger are "in the pocket" every single time they play. love it

  27. h.... ....

Holy shit bagofcansbarry, well played sir.....although I think we should not define the fools that try to put Dillinger down....Dillinger has earned the right to play what they want! Viva Dillinger!

  28. b.... ....

these lads are unreal musicians, song structures, what they each play individually, how they all lock in together, everything about this band is just ridiculously good anybody who says otherwise is a lamb of god loving ignorant fuck twat who doesnt know real music, dillinger could play any genre of music and make it their own, thank fuck they decided to play heavy music is all i can say

  29. Y.... S....

You sir, are beyond correct. I went to summer slaughter tour this year and you should have seen the faces of all the kids that thought they knew hard shit..

  30. K.... R....

I love this song. Fuck you!

  31. P.... ....

Haha, Ben's awesome guitar part at 3:45!

  32. S.... ....

or Botch's "We are the Romans" or Orchid's "Chaos Is Me".

  33. 0.... ....

It's more of what happens when punk rock gets serious about being really fucking good at playing their instruments.

  34. J.... H....

there is still a lot of clean vocals

  35. N.... S....

is there more from this show?

  36. K.... ....

Coming from a huge as metalhead that listen to shit like Cannibal Corpse, Death, Behemoth, and Anaal Nathrakh, Dillinger is pretty damn awesome. The time signatures in their songs make them one of the weirdest, but coolest bands out there.

  37. A.... ....

    intense

  38. D.... ....

In the new album it seems that he is screaming more... Too bad

  39. T.... A....

dillinger and converge need to play a show together. so i can go and die in the moshpit.

  40. V.... J....

Ha, I see what you did there. Well played.

  41. A.... P....

You clearly have read too much sputnikmusic.

  42. l.... ....

Every flavor of DEP (Chris/Billy; Greg/Dimitri, etc) kicks my ass. So much more talent, heart, energy, method, soul than the (c)rap, r&b(ullshit), bieber, television-ready bile touted as 'good' today.

  43. L.... S....

we all crazy about Greg !!!

  44. I.... ....

Pennie was so amazing that Coheed and Cambria ousted him to bring Josh Eppard back...

They basically said Pennie has no feel for the music...lol

  45. R.... W....

    mondo patton

  46. S.... ....

Name dropping validates musical knowledge comment.

  47. V.... J....

You clearly haven't listened to "Jane Doe" by Converge.

  48. L.... F....

Billy Rymer is a lot better than Chris Pennie, sorry.

  49. R.... S....

    Business week brought me here.

  50. c.... ....

Greg is great, but no one has been able to fill Chris Pennie's shoes behind the drums. Dude must have wore a size 30.

  51. k.... ....

The amount of musicianship this band has been able to have with their career, even though they have changed band members throughout it, amazes me still

  52. W.... 9....

    These guys rule

  53. M.... ....

well, I like a lot Greg, he is a very versatile singer, but yet I consider "Calculating Infinity" their masterpiece, I never listened an album with such powerand rage.

    M.... ....

I actually like calculating infinity the least... It's a important album, but their later work has much more variety.

  54. A.... R....

This band fucked me up when I saw them live. The lighting will make your head explode!!

  55. d.... ....

Haha he goes a little Jesus Lizard in the live shows, eh?

  56. J.... C....

Also, do you ever listen to/read the lyrics? Lyrics on Ire Works and Option Paralysis are just incredible. These words you don't hear anywhere else. I think the lyrics are really important for a band, and when I first discovered DEP when Miss Machine came out because of their music, I later came to appreciate the lyrics. The lyrics are just pure honesty, integrity and uncover areas unexplored, it's addicting. I can't wait for the next album!

  57. m.... ....

That EP is my least favorite work of theirs. Although it was ok, I don't think it came close to their work without him.

  58. F.... ....

I think the best Dillinger songs are the 3 with Mike Patton.

  59. K.... ....

Dimitri fit the earlier material way better, and Greg is the perfect fit for the new stuff. /thread

  60. v.... ....

    This band is very original...

  61. T.... ....

Calculating Infinity is my fav but Dimitry is nothing compare to Greg.

  62. M.... ....

i know Dimitri is Monotone compared to greg. I Do like dimitri though but greg smashes him vocally, Whoever thinks otherwise is just a fanboy.

  63. n.... ....

    best song ever

  64. M.... S....

Greg is a better vocalist than Dimitri...Period...

    M.... S....

Matt Solar not even remotely close. Dimitri had a different style, certainly. But his vocal approach fit the style of tdep so perfectly. This guy has his moments, but he’s no Dimitri.

  65. M.... T....

Greg still has far to go. His live performances technically vocal wise are still far from solid

  66. m.... ....

I don't prefer one or the other, Ive liked everyone whos done vocals for this band. But Dimitri was my fav, I like their pre-Miss Machine stuff more I guess.

  67. T.... ....

I dunno, DM sounded really psychotic and raw - as dep's then music. But GP's voc lines are more structured and deliberate to me. Who's better? I for one prefer Christmas.

  68. m.... ....

Dimitri was an amazing vocalist, he used frantic, inhuman screams in everything he did. Fucking unreal.

  69. B.... S....

what are you talking about them being a no-singing band... they've always had a vocalist, they had Dimitri Minakakis originally then he left and they made Ire Works which had Mike Patton as their vocalist then Greg came out of no where and became the vocalist.

  70. R.... B....

Please consume 1 bag of dicks.

  71. J.... T....

Greg Puciato is the best thing to come out of Baltimore since the fucking CRAB CAKE...

  72. J.... R....

    OklahomaPunkRock

  73. A.... ....

    milano 1 maggio.... sticazzi!!!

  74. D.... M....

why is this song sounded different from the album? or is it just me?

    D.... M....

Dili Mawardi Maybe it's a demo version

  75. M.... T....

I don't think so. At least on live performances. Greg can't pull off most of the singing parts.

  76. u.... ....

the new stuff is pretty cool, but Miss Machine is still my fav

  77. i.... ....

it definitely isn't the record version. you can tell by the background vocals on the chorus. how ballsy is it to make an "official" video out of a live take?! these guys are just that awesome.

  78. A.... S....

listen up closely dude, this is not the studio version. WTF i just realized it after watching this for 753 times.

  79. P.... ....

It is the studio version, its a music video lol.

  80. i.... ....

limited my ass the man is a god

  81. E.... G....

I like how Greg actually helped the kid on stage, thats pretty awesome

  82. i.... ....

it is the studio version but with live footage as the video behind the music.

  83. j.... g....

i dont ever want to see the day when the dillinger escape plan is no more. ha. for me that would just be another great band gone. dillinger is soooo fucking great i wanna see them live before i fucking die!!!!

    j.... g....

    ive got some bad news

  84. t.... ....

WHOAH WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS !!!! THIS IS JUST LIKE THE STUDIO VERSION..this band is so damn good..can't believe it.

  85. l.... ....

Ma esiste un filmato della serata ?

  86. t.... ....

    They kick so much ass.

  87. M.... ....

They've never tried to play metal... Yet, I've been on a lot of metal concerts and, believe me, these guys make Death Metal shows seem like lullabyes. They don't just make awesome modern music, they rape stages aswell.
Now go back to your cave.

  88. C.... A....

this is not the album version, is this a live recording? if so, FUCK! i remember seeing them live and being very impressed but this is WOASHDOGHAOSDGHODFABNO

  89. C.... R....

The Dillinger Escape plan fucking rules all, and if you don't like it... well you know... go fornicate a fish or something

  90. J.... S....

gregs vocals are awesome so fuck you haters.......

  91. C.... D....

Greg has come SO fucking far as a vocalist. I think we can all agree that he was severely limited on Miss Machine, but now he's become a true vocal virtuoso.

No matter what your opinion on their current music is, The Dillinger Escape Plan is more than a metal band. It's a fucking attitude. Even when the band ends, the attitude and mentality that is The Dillinger Escape Plan will live on forever.

  92. D.... S....

Anyone who says dillinger were better without Greg really confuse me...

  93. M.... T....

    Any more from this show?

  94. R.... B....

I SAW THEM PLAYING THIS YESTERDAY! YES, YES, YES. BRIXTON O2 ACADEMY, 11/02/2012.

  95. M.... W....

Saw this live when they performed at the Mastodan show in Seattle.......FUCKING SICK GREG IS TO HYPE LOL

  96. x.... ....

@organicate But the didn't get better. The song lacks the magic that old DEP had, the singer is annoying. The EP with Mike Patton is where its at.
