Digable Planets - Black Ego Lyrics

(All right boy, ah man
Give you your rights, here we go again
You have the right to remain silent
Hey Ish what's goin' on? Chill, chill it's cool
Give up the right to remain silent
Anything you say can and will be used against you
Whatever man, whatever
Do you understand each of these rights I've explained to you?
Oh, like I ever had rights, kid
Do you wish to give up the right to remain silent?
Hell yeah)

So now let's let into in my pocket pack
Pummel and I epic black ethic lack, I walk again
You were shade gray, come display
Mazes in black fire in the west

Shit is shakin' it's fly
I'm in lookies when I pushin' vinyl time
Up the forts, where I'm caught
And my thought to shakin' up a few loose
Now I let my cause shoo KRS one

'Cause we fade in and out, are you swingin' or coming?
I'm solid on this thought, this ain't livin'
It's heavy every set back, even when I was a shorty
Now we cross you and your foe, thrice

Check me in another place space enjoy
Nothing you could server could ever ace me, boy
Fat laces I'm out fat and no maybe's
That's right, baby

That's right, show you right, all right
That's right, show you right, all right
That's right, show you right, all right

I got Harlem on my mind, Darren on my back
Brooklyn in my blood and butters on the track
I got insect thoughts, catch the cool ways
Clouds of purple haze keep me in a daze

The jazz, the jive, the poetry
The style, the lingo, the bags of equality
Many different things tryin' to get to me
But in a world of hard rock, I keep my humility

The funkanaut from the kingdom of not
With galactic sure shot, they can't, won't, don't stop
Flock to the rhythm I bring
Sing songs call survival on the Mingus revival

Scored the bass hit with my bugged out clique
It's doodlebugm give me love for a visual script
Sip the groove juice, it's kinda rough
Sevens never bluff, I had enough, eleven

That's right, show you right, all right
That's right, show you right, all right
That's right, show you right, all right

In the east I rose, froze in the pose
Of a land diseased, flows that coolest summer breeze
Nikki did Kevin braids, we got four in the 'Lac
As we swoop at Warp Seven, holler don't crowd cats

'Cause look corpie is the color and butter he do it low
All you hear is poppers and rubber I'm sayin', oh
Man we keep it poppin' on hot day shit
I got the fish eggs droppin' any block you dip

And I dazzle that mood with the cool out fool
Easin' semi-swerve to the curb like the do
I'm fro, blow, you got that right
Groove with soul and I'm still spinnin'

Cross 110 and indicate 'em somethin' else
Blackest space, deepest sea
My shit's on natural high
The man can't put no thing on me

So dig me when my mind stretch out, it's astro black
Time reachin' end to end, nappy afro blue
We'd swoop and fight in, out the corners
Do my thang like you be with a nigga

That's right, show you right, all right
That's right, show you right, all right
That's right, show you right, all right

I tried to put so many of my friends on to this album. They shitted on it because they were too young to understand that Jazz is the father of hip hop. Sucks, because this album is a classic.

    to open your eyes

  41. s.... ....

Chill comment section. Real heads are always nice

  42. j.... c....

Lets be honest back in 1994 the white music critics (and a few conscious blacks) were the ones showing the Blowout Comb album love .... back then the lumpen mass didnt support ... and they still dont - - they picked gangsta rap and all the other commercial bullshit since.... they deserve what they got..... They are the ones why rap has not lived up to its potential. They supported the crap that the music industry execs threw at at them instead of what their brightest young people worked on lovingly for them for upliftment.

    j.... c....

I Agree with almost All, except the "and a few conscious blacks" part. That is Ignorant.

    j.... c....

No john is right kevin. And yes Baron that is how it was. I can still remember being talked down in conversations when I said Digable Planets was my favorite rap group and some wanna gang member said they didn't count because they were a representation of hip hop not rap. Talk about splitting hairs. You don't know kevin. Stfu!

    j.... c....

john cale youre full of shit greek. the howard crowd played this shit day and night, 94 was the year white people discovered concious rap and this is one the records you people took! white people destroyed digable planets record sales. i go to a planets show today and its all black cuz they dont like you mfs! back off ruin your own music.

    j.... c....

You dumb clown the conscious black crowd loved their hits! It was whites who weren’t expecting all the black talk in this second album so they destroyed their career by cutting it off from commercial promotions, radio etc.

    j.... c....

True and even to this day a lot of whiteys like me love this music while the masses rave over the latest travis scott auto tuned mess.

  43. A.... C....

The funk-a-naught from the kingdom of not?

    hmmm....

    A.... C....

    Aaron Creagh Think about it!!

    A.... C....

Digable Planets have always referenced jazz musicians( Sun Ra, Coltrane, Monk, etc.) For example, "funkanaut from the kingdom of not" is in reference to a Sun Ra composition called "Kingdom of Not" from the album Supersonic Jazz. Check it out!

  44. T.... T....

    perfect

  45. A.... M....

i see comments from old ass mofos about how "todays rap sucks" man shut up. 1. theres plenty of rap out like this that you would love and 2. i can enjoy this shit and also turn up to young thug and lil yachty. they are not mutualy exclusive

    A.... M....

    Amarna Mousa.....
    Hah Hah... I Feel you....

    A.... M....

Armarna Mousa Stfu lyin ass gay nigga. Name one group out today with Digable Planets's sound.

  46. S.... I....

shouts out to lil boat for bringing me here, juu kno i want dis fo lyyyyyyf

  47. a.... d....

I think the critics (generally made up of mostly white folks) found this revolutionary (BLACK ) in comparison to the first lp..anyways I fuxx with some of the new trap shit, but this right here....always gets more play..positive,black, ego!!!!

    a.... d....

I know they exist(ed), but I can't imagine what lower form of life could be critical of this masterpiece group.
For the record, I am a (FRECKLED) Mexican – Straight Outta PDX. I look "white" and benefit from that privilege.
Oh, yeah... there are lots of people like me who can appreciate the bigger picture. You should really consider fine tuning your (MESSAGE) if you want to be taken seriously. I've been in love with DP since I can't remember.
They brought the magic to the Crystal Ballroom not too long ago and, thankfully, nobody like you got in the way.
