Diana Krall - I Remember You Lyrics

I remember you
You're the one who made my dreams come true
A few kisses ago

I remember you
You're the one who said I love you, too, I do
Didn't you know?

I remember too a distant bell
And stars that fell like rain out of the blue
When my life is through
And the angels ask me to recall the thrill of them all
Then I shall tell them
I remember you

Maybe the best recording of this classic.

  13. Fitzgerald's Anticks

    This arrangement...the best EVER!

  14. Gunluvver2

So many great singers have done this song. Diana nailed it also. Slim Whitman, John Denver, Glen Campbell, Nat King Cole, Frank Iffeld AND I believe "Juice" Newton have done it and I loved them all. In my opinion the only other song better than "I Remember You" is "The Last Farewell". When I hear Roger Whittakers version of it I just close my eyes and remember.

  15. Eisen J Eisen

    Very pretty song

  16. Val T

I love her phrasing, her "musicality" (not sure what that is, but...), her owning of the songs.  I was never a fan of this kind of music until I heard Diana Krall.  Is she like the wonder woman of this genre, or what?  Thank you, Diana!

  17. Joseph Rosen

Listening to all the versions......enjoy all

  18. Mia Mia

Definitely a slice above the slim version......

I love this song. I bought the album when it came out awhile back, and while I was completely unimpressed with Ms. Krall, I must say, she grew on me. Big time.

  36. Dora Lauren

she's pianist by education and played piano professionally before starting to sing on stage. i went to her concert couple of years ago: she plays piano herself with bassist and drummer supporting.

    Mark Burk

She's also married to Elvis Costello (you read that correctly).

    Mark Blackburn

@Mark Burk Or as we Canadians call him, Mr. Diana Krall.

  37. terry platt

It's a very long way from Frank Ifield - my very first record in 1962 - to this. A lovely version, which I've not heard before.
Just a quick question: does anybody know who the backing musicians are? At the beginning, where it is purely instrumental, it sounds very much like Pat Metheny Group. Don't suppose it is, but it's a very cool contemporary jazz sound, in a similar vein to much of his mid-period 80s material on albums such as We Live Here, Offramp and Still Life (Talking).

    Terry Sautter

This track has: Joe Pisano- guitar, Paulinho Da Costa- percussion, Jeff Hamilton- drums, Christian McBride- 2bl bass, LA Session orchestra and, of course, Diana Krall on piano & vocals.

    terry platt

@Terry Sautter Oh hey, that's interesting - I wasn't too far off the mark: Pat Metheny has worked with both Paulinho Da Costa and Christian McBride on various albums (of his), so it seems like his influence is well etched out in the sound of both of those artistes' work.
    Thanks for the info!

    delicious...thanks for posting...so effortlessly smooth

  40. SuperCarver2011

What a jazz babe!   I realize this was a few years ago, but she still has it.
Love the rhythmic sounds of the string bass bossa nova beat..its like a heartbeat.
Not sure if its Romero Lubambo  or Russell Malone on the spanish classical guitar
since they have been known to play together as side men.
Just beautiful Diana..you do this song justice.

    Terry Sautter

Joe Pisano is on guitar, Chrsitian McBride on 2bl bass. Coolest version of a this Johnny Mercer classic.

    Bob Jones

@Terry Sautter The Doris Day version with orchestration by Paul Weston is well worth a listen, as is Charlie Parker's, Stan Getz's, Stanley Turrentine's..a great tune. Jazz babe huh? I'm sure she'd be delighted at your description Supercarver.

    Bill Johnson

@Terry Sautter The beat and arrangement is sublime! Krall has that delivery that makes all of her songs so unique. Mercer would have enjoyed this interpretation of his classic song. I still like Nat King Cole and Dinah Washington's versions but I'll listen to this anytime. So....soothing!

    Dan Damon Music Productions

Sure this was not 'John' Pisano on Guitar?- One of the greatest for Jazz and bossa nova.

    Dan Damon Music Productions

Love this song, Diana's romantic voice, along with a super complimentary backup. Yes, bossa nova beat -like a sensuous heartbeat.

  41. Marilene Martins
