Diamond Rio - Finish What We Started Lyrics
Lyin' on our backs we stared at the stars
Tryin' to count them or guess how far
I still remember the way that it felt
The night we hung our dreams out on Orion's belt
The moonlight danced out on the water's edge
And step by step and mile by mile
Taking each turn together
Following the signs that point to forever
And side by side
True and tenderhearted
We'll finish what we started
The road we have traveled has sometimes been steep
And we've crossed troubled waters that were raging and deep
There's no path too winding, no river too wide
One foot in front of the other each day
Keeping a promise that two young lovers made
And step by step and mile by mile
Taking each turn together
Following the signs that point to forever
And side by side
True and tenderhearted
We'll finish what we started

Diamond Rio Finish What We Started Comments
What a great song. When I want to listen to real country music , I just turn on my 80's stereo hi fi system. I have everything i need on cd & tape. All the really good stuff from the mid 80's to mid 90's. To hell with country radio. It's not even worth the effort to turn the radio on. Who's with me ?
nice bridge
The mandolin i always thought was cool in their songs
Sweet tune! Love it!
Ready. Hit. The. Ground. Running.
Taken the hard turns together and ENDURING!!!!!!!... That sums it up for DEEK DAY!!!!....

This is a song makes me really LOVE the woman that God has put in my life.
Singers today don't put the feeling in their songs like these guys did.
Saw them in Pitman NJ last year and they still sound just like this. It was a great show!
WOW!!! I don't remember this'n! She looks just like me! And the bridge! Oh wow!
I've always loved their sound. The vocals, (both lead and harmony) and the stellar musicianship. You know a Diamond Rio song when you hear it.

Dave Wollenberg I've seen your posts on other country songs. How do you know all of this information on these songs, sir? But thanks for it. Very helpful :)
I own Joel Whitburn's country annual 1944-97. Tells the peak position, and week it hit it.
@Dave Wollenberg Oh okay. I see. Very interesting. Thanks for the reply and God bless :)
I love this song :) makes me think of me and my husband... though we go through ruff times we can make it cause we have each other..
What a great song with such a great feeling and meaning! I miss diamond rio and all the bands that made country music! I really wish we could get groups like this back together to make country music again what it used to be!
That 90's hair! Still one of the best voices and sounds in country. Love this song and Diamond Rio's music.

this is my and my husband's "song"- 14yrs of marriage, 2 kids, 4 dogs, several fish, some hamsters, 2 houses, several cars, and thousands of wonderful memories I wouldn't trade for anything. I love him as much or more today as I did then and am looking forward to a lifetime together. :)
I was 11 when this video came out...music just isn't the same as it was when I was a kid.
