Diamond Rio - Bubba Hyde Lyrics
Barney works down at the A&P
He drives a baby blue A.M.C.
Ain't missed of day of work in 13 years
He's a fire department volunteer
Collected stamps since he was 10 years old
You've never seen a more regular guy
But when the sun goes down on Friday night
Slaps on his Hai Karate after shave
Puts on his Elvis jacket custom-made
Gets in his patent leather zebra boots
Fires up his super sport Malibu
He burns the rubber 'cross the county line
A honky tonkin' fool till closing time
From Barney Jekyll into Bubba Hyde
Monday morning it's a suit and tie
Attention shoppers there's a two-for-one buy
Tuesday afternoon he mans the wheel
Makes his round in the bookmobile
He's got a Wednesday night canasta game
Thursday's the tourney at the bowling lanes
His friends would freak out if they only knew
The party animal he turns into
Slaps on his Hai Karate after shave
Puts on his Elvis jacket custom-made
Gets in his patent leather zebra boots
Fires up his super sport Malibu
He burns the rubber 'cross the county line
A honky tonkin' fool till closing time
You ought to see him metamorphosize
From Barney Jekyll into Bubba Hyde
You oughta see him metamorphosize
From Barney Jekyll into Bubba Hyde

Diamond Rio Bubba Hyde Comments
Yes, actually first time seeing this video. Funny.
I dipped it in my chick to this song
The Guy makes me think of me
Pretty tight
Feels good to be from Nashville when you hear these classics. <3 So miss that raw, bar sound that so many artists used to have when I was a kid.
TIMELESS! Don't Argue with me.............They Nailed IT!
I get a kick every time he puts the bowling ball bag over his head. 😆
Love Diamond Rio!
Damn I'm getting old...
The nineties were a fun decade for country music.
Great video, but why doesn't his girlfriend ever change her clothes?
what is the womans name in the pantsuit?
This.....THIS is REAL Country folks. take notes and write REAL shit and not that crap on the radio these days.
Man i'd do anything to be Looped back into the 90's and early 2000's Country.
well , i guess i have Accu-Radio for that.
Oh and that girl , OMG !!! i'm in love all over again !!!
I met them at our local festival here in town called the catfish festival. I worked the stage they played on I helped Marty Roe work on his tour bus generator. How many people can say they done that.
I've landscaped a lot of artists home over the years.
That chick has a very nice ass
Shaking dat booty
Last night's encore!! 🎤
0:23 Darn, I hoped it was a *Pacer*
Who don't love a slow song about beast mode 💪🤘😂
I'd forgotten about this one. Thanks, guys.
All these years later.. what stuns me isn't that there are real Barney Jeckle/Bubba Hydes out there.. *but that there are a lot of hot women who go for those guys!!* The only women who buy into "only certain men are suitable"(who exclude guys like that and grown men who like things like what the characters in the Big Bang Theory do for another example) are women who have mercenary motives of some sort (none of which like real Country music, as well...)
This is great!
Good stuff!!
Wow!--the poodle, framed, wall art in this video (:41) is the same as in the It's a Little Too Late by Mark Chensnutt video (1:07).
Dam were did this music go!
He’s banging a hot blonde.
I metamorphisized from City Slicker into Country Pride...
I miss this kind of country. I hate most of the stuff they call country now. We need this brought back.
LOVE THAT G-BODY!
I've always loved this song. Every time I watch the video, I wonder if the # 2r8 on the door of the fire truck means that Barney volunteers for a 2nd rate fire dept?
I love Diamod Rio. Please come back to Laughlin.
I didn't know Dog the Bounty Hunter play drums
Paul Rudd needs to play you in a biopic dude. Oh and you’re the man, country these days ain’t shit!
Why can't we go back?
Jim J Bullock He Plays Mr Monroe Of Nickelodeon's Middle School Series, Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide
Jim J Bullock was hilarious in this video! Love Diamond Rio!

Brings back so many memories of the era. Love it... GO BUBBA HYDE!!!!!
Hell yes!
If you're partying on the weekends like Bubba Hyde going into 2019, then just go on & like this comment then!
Seriously love Jim J. Bullock - aka Monroe from Too Close For Comfort.... totally makes the video!!!
JJBullock made this video everything it is. That man was a gem of slapstick comedy
Travis Tritt Whiskey Ain't Workin Anymore Live 🎸
Is that the science teacher from Ned's Declassified?
Danced many nights to this in college!! Still awesome!
The director of this video couldn't have found anyone better than Jim J. Bullock to play the part of Bubba Hyde.
Love them
AMC Gremlin is still cool....
Don't think that is a Super Sport Malibu. After Chevy dropped the Chevelle name in 78. I don't think they put a SS badge on another Malibu and I want to say that's an 82 or 83. But I could be wrong.
But the AMC never goes out in coolness...
Slaps on his Hi Colonic after shave lol
Hai Karate after shave check out the old commercials on here
Jim J Bullock too funny man!
This was filmed mostly on someone's front yard and probably the local bowling alley, some high tech stuff here lol
The 90s was a nice decade. Everything was so neat and tidy.
this song is very underrated
If y'all wanna see another funny music video check out, 'If Bubba Can Dance" by Shenandoah. It is soooo funny!
Good country that no longer exists
she is so hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would chew threw a picnic bench to eat her ass!!!!
The internet is a strange place, you start on one subject and end up on what seems to be an entirely unrelated topic, you can find connections between things you would never even think about.
I started out watching a video about a rat rod and ended up here, it wasn't in the normal fashion of clicking random video suggestions, this time was different because the rat rod in the video was built from parts of an old truck. They told what kind of truck it was but didn't say anything about the engine so I was trying to find some information on it. I searched the web visiting various websites looking for the type of truck they used, it was a 1952 Diamond REO, then I thought, ''Hmm, Diamond Rio is a country group, wonder if there's a connection?''. I checked it out and sure enough the band is named after the company Diamond REO, they just changed the REO to Rio. Incidentally it's also related to the band REO Speedwagon, the Speedwagon was a car built by the car company REO, founded by Ransom E. Olds, who also founded Oldsmobile. I've owned two Oldsmobile's so there's another seemingly unrelated connection to me personally. REO later merged with Diamond T, another car company from the early 1900's and that's how the company Diamond REO came to be, and subsequently the band's name.
After I found out where their name came from, I randomly clicked on this video. The interesting part is that the company Diamond REO also built fire trucks, the rat rod was built from parts of an old Diamond REO fire truck and out of all the songs Diamond Rio recorded, I just so happened to click on the very one that has a fire truck in the video which is likely the only video of theirs that shows a fire truck. I'm almost certain the fire truck was placed there as a direct reference to the bands name origin which leads me full circle back to the rat rod...
I know that no one cares about this but I just learned something new and thought it was kinda cool and it's also early and my brain isn't working yet and it doesn't take much to amuse me when my brain isn't working...
BTW, I still have no clue about the engine...The internet is a strange place, you start on one subject and end up on what seems to be an entirely unrelated topic, you can find connections between things you would never even think about.

Is that Jefferson from Married with Children?
This has always been my favorite Diamond Rio song
Could have been my theme song back in the college days
A class act song and video.
These songs by Diamond Rio are classics, it's a shame they are not more well known.
the treasure of the earth country people. is the beautiful people
Genesis. metamophasis. eroticas
James H Potts born 12-27+1960. San Diego, CA. the author and the artist/journalist.
hey how about that diamond rio? got to love that. kind of reminds me a little of Country living and cooking with Paula Deen and Trisha Yearwood
Man I love this song and video!!
Jim J. Bullock as Barney/Bubba. Absolutely fantastic job selling the character without any lines at all.
I will say though.. anyone grabbing the bottom of a stacking at a store like that and makes a mess deserves to get rudeness from the employees.
Where is the volume?
Kasswinn Delluna
yu never see todays artist sing a song like that
I bought some hai karate! They still sell it in Europe. Had to get it shipped here now I just need the jacket and boots!
Hey I'm still here. By the way. I was born in 1995
lol watching again
You have a super sport Malibu?
Jeff Hill I was gonna ask that

Get it, son!!!
I miss this band!!!!!!
They're still here!
One GREAT song!!
Ohhh Diamond Rio.. PLEASE COME BACK INTO MY COUNTRY LIFE !!!!!
Awesome song!!
this is the most hilarious.... goodness
I have had this song stuck in my head for days.
I got here from listening to cannibal corpse what the hell
Tanner McKnight I wish there were words to describe how hilarious that is lol. I got here from Slipknot 🤣🤣
2:30 when he says "fires up his super sport Malibu, I pictured a 1965 Malibu...not a 1979 Malibu.
David Welsh - Yeah, me too...or maybe a '69 SS w/ Cowl Induction and Daytona Stripes...
I pictured a 2017 Malibu
The baby blue AMC Gremlin is way cooler.
well I guess we now know where dog the bounty hunter got his swag from
wooden nickle at Coyote's Louisville Kentucky, which is now closed.what fun we had at that club.
I love this song and the video is too funny!!! The guy in it has always been able to make me laugh!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SONG . . . ALWAYS DID, ALWAYS WILL . . . . . . . . . I HAD THAT SAME "ONE'sie" SHE HAS ON, WHEN I WAS 22 (21 yrs later) I MIGHT STILL HAVE IT IN MY CLOSET SOMEWHERE LOL
Country got a lil' weird in the 90's...
No people had a sense of humor and told real stories. Now it’s grown men singing about drinking around a bonfire on the tailgate of their trucks. We all quit that shit 20 years ago.
@Matt Beeman Singing around a fire sitting on tailgates is no different than all the songs of the 60s, 70s and 80s about being drunk in a bar or divorce. Like one song says, You do your country, we'll do our country. It's all country regardless of your opinions.
Canasta? Freeze that deck :-)
The Mullet-osity of this video is overwhelming.
blueslove61 Bubba is the only one without one!
But in a good way.
@QueensWino , true. But the man playing Barney/Bubba (the seriously underrated Jim J. Bullock) is one of the most talented and underused actors of all time, IMHO.
Cool song but they could have done so much more with this video.
Got to love Jim J Bullock :)
Right?! I remember him as Monroe on Too Close For Comfort in the 80's
Holly camel toe!!
Good eye!
ahhhhh classic 90' country haha I love it. well... almost classic hahaha
Chris Perry nice profile pic
Mullet...overload...
Not anymore, unfortunately 🙆
