Dexys Midnight Runners - Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven When You Smile) Lyrics
Jackie Wilson said it was reet petite
I kind of love you
Yes it knocks me off my feet
Let it all come down
Oh let it all come down
I don't need any more tea in my cup
Let it all come down
Oh let it all come down
Now watch this
Toodle langa langa Toodle langa fang
Toodle langa langa Toodle langa fang
I'm in heaven
I'm In heaven
I'm In heaven when you smile
And when you walk across the street
Let It all come down
And every time I stop to think about It
Well little child you simply make my day
Let It all come down
Oh let It all come down
Toodle langa langa Toodle langa fang
Toodle langa langa Toodle langa fang
I'm In heaven
I'm in heaven
I'm in heaven when you smile

Dexys Midnight Runners Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven When You Smile) Comments
Van Morrison was the man! Great cover though
Loved it since if first heard it in The Young Ones years ago
I thought JW said it was "Reet Petite?"
@ Lillie Belle: nah, he actually said "180... and another 10 pints of lager please"... ;-)
@MadFranko008 Letitallhangout.
I smiled in 84.......
I love this so much, makes my heart sing!
I had a pair of dungarees when I was going through my dexys phase they made them fashionable
Ha! I was wearing them at the time, too. But I had worn them since I was a toddler... didn't know that was what were called dungarees... heard the word before but in my neighborhood we mainly called them overalls... to get even more Southern, 'overhauls'. You learn something new every day. dungarees... go figure...
This is so awesome ☺️
Big wolves fan in the day was Kevin saw him at molineux a few times and Robert plant from led Zeppelin
been in Canada since 77 are any of these awesome midalnds bands VILLA fans?? lol
I’d only ever heard the original version, never knew that they covered it. I like it!
@Patrick Clayton This is the only version I've ever heard also - it's one of Dexys biggest hits, got to No.5 in the UK charts in 1982 and has had constant airplay as a standard on TV and Radio ever since, you'd have to be living in North Korea to have never heard this.
@Forlogson or American
@Forlogson Dear old North Korea! The singer on this one is terrible. Nice instrumentation but they should have got a proper singer.
@Duke Burgundy please Kevin rowlensan is great just because he doesn't sing like another pop star doesn't mean he is bad
@E H Sorry if my opinion upsets you. I'll just say that his vocals are not to my taste.
Truly underrated
@ One Minute Daily: You've got a thing it would appear about watching/ listening to music video that you truly underrate... hmmm... strange hobby !!! :-o
Omg awesome ❤️❤️
When music was music, and good music too. This shines as bright today as it did all those years ago, still as fresh, still as good.
Kevin Rowland WAS the early 80s. Loved Dexy's.
On bass: John Rhino Edwards, who would join Status Quo later.
Kevin Rowland; a true musical maverick.
reminds me of the young ones
Them playing in their bathroom.
saw this in a porno once
hey Funky... are you sure only watched once?.... i reckon you'd have to watch a lot of porn before this song was in the soundtrack... ever thought of cutting back a little?
@AVportau not once like hat just one porno had the song
Best comment! 😂
Which one? Asking for Jackie Wilson..
You crazy kevin rowland, such a great voice. You wasted your talent with madness.
@ RUIVOX: Erm... Kevin Rowland was never a member of Madness... :-o
@MadFranko008 I know. but consider "madness" as an adjective
@ RUIVOX: Ah I get you now... thought you meant the band "Madness"... :-o
Don't believe Kevin did waste his talent though, in fact I'd say he did rather well with his talent and it got better and better over the years to a degree where his singing these days is far better than it was back in the early days... ;-)
You got your wires crossed, he was never part of Madness, that was Sugg's and Co.
he's not mad, just irish
They are fabulous
Classic Dexy's, with a touch of Oliver Twist too.
What a diverse array of musical instruments! And that bassline is great.
Still sounds fresh today
Catchy, feel good song! :)
2:35 to the end of this song always puts a lump in my throat, don't know why lol.
I was 11 when this came out.
Van Morrison song to be fair.
@ Mick Linehan: Erm... no one said it wasn't !!!
It's says that's its a van Morrison song
Ah, you must be the famous Mick "Einstein" Linehan!
I cannot believe this has only got 119,585 views. This is one of the most famous songs of all time. Dexys Midnight Runners make me smile :-)
@ Mark Jordan: Being a lifelong Dexy's fan I can assure you this one is far from being one of the most famous songs of all time (sadly)...
MadFrank008 - OK I will agree with you.
@ Mark Jordan: You don't have to agree with me... ;-) While it was a well know song among Dexys fans sadly it never really caught on with casual listeners of the band most of whom (even sadder still) only seem to know Dexys for "Come On Eileen" and many of whom THINK that "Come On Eileen" was the only record they ever made (boy, does that get on wick).... :-o
@MadFranko008I consider this to be a better track than come on Eileen, but I know what you mean.
As the follow-up single to the mega-hit that was Come On Eileen, this one made number 5 in the charts in October 1982 so it was far from overlooked at the time. Must have sold close on quarter of a million copies to do that. I was watching their performance of it on Top of the Pops one Thursday evening and my dad thought their outfits too scruffy.
Kev you seem to be wearing a lot of make up
Was a sale on at boots
great bass sound - with them vocals x
1982 what a fabulous time to be alive.
1982 never existed
So that's what the song is called lol. I've always just remembered it as "that one Dexy's song that I like, ya know, the one from the young ones".
Some great bands came on the Young ones.
A bunch of Hobos that had it going on! Great song and vocals!!!
What does it mean "Toodle langa" in song? Does it mean anything? Explain to me, please?
It means, "May the seed of your loin be fruitful in the belly of your Womaaaan." No wait, that's boom shanka.
More Too-ry-ay than Toodle Pip.
@unusual username "darling fascist bully boy"
It means, "Please vote Republican in the next election"
it means fuckoff and stop asking stupid questions
The young ones <3
Haha I only listened to the first few seconds cheers do you have a link to the actual version please?
TV detector man episode?
that's how I first heard this. over 20 years later, I'm still playing it.
nice cover of a great song...
It is not a cover
@The Sexy One yes it is a cover of van morrisons original
Fun stuff.
Lo drummer playing the wrong groove @1:57
Oliver Bear ..it was 1982. MTV just started.
Seb Shelton, former drummer of Secret Affair..
I'm fourteen years old and after listening to this I get mad that my generation listens to shit and not real music like this
Then you might be one of the pioneers of your generation that revives this kind of music and brings back a good era of descent meaningful music.
Just remember if you've never heard "old" music then to you it is "new" music.
fuck off. you aren't the only person in your generation to listen to music from this era, quit assuming that everyone except you listens to "shit", and no music is real music.
you listen to shit music u dumb cunt
Omg I’m different than other girls, I don’t listen to rap, like seriously I listen to good stuff. Please do me a favor and stop being one of those kids that who think just cause they listen to sects midnight runners that it’ll get you laid
FRIGGIN MAGNIFICENT! After listening to the original then Van's later version (Hat and shades) about three times each, I love the shit out of this one. This is why I love Youtube. You can listen to your most loved tunes then hear all the different covers and like those too. Plus the tube puts recommendations to the right so you can sail for hours. Great for generating major Alpha Waves .
Brilliant cover version, especially considering it's a Van Morrison one.
Not many people know how they come up with the band name.
Kevin Roland used to be a big Northern Soul fan, and attended the all Niters at Wigan Casino in the 70s They used to take a drug back then called Dextradin (similar to speed) to help them keep dancing (or running so to speak) all night. Thus - Dexys Midnight Runners
Oh Mad Frank, Thank you.
@ Kim Severn: You're welcome Kim, glad you enjoyed this clip... :-)
0:05 yeah those are violins, defiantly violins
One of those rare covers that is better than the original. Takes something to out-do Van Morrison...
Yup. My thoughts exactly.
Jealous guy by Roxy music. Better than John Lennon imo.
@Thomas Jackson no it is not better
Jocky Wilson Said haha
I told them to set up in our lavatory
Wrong show... ;-)
whos here because the young ones
That show was great and so long ago.
It from the bomb episode
WELL DONE!
Those people should be shot for ruining that great Van Morrision song! The only thing worse than their rendition of the song is the lame video!
Away and no talk shite. This version is miles better.
Van morrision song... Dexys do the best job on it..
A little ripper
Fantastic, what more can you say
Great job on this!!!
I would love to hear them play this live.
GREAT TRIBUTE TO JACKIE WILSON.!!!!!
Depressing. Young ones was better
@MadFranko008 takes one to know one.
@ Lianne Jenkins: Problem for you is... YOU DON'T KNOW ME... dummy... ;-)
@MadFranko008 neither do you know me, dickhead
@ Lianne Jenkins: ROFLMAO... erm I didn't claim to know you fanny features you are the brain dead fart whom said "it takes one to know one" you moronic twat... ROFLMAO...
I merely stated the FACT that your own words PROVE you are seriously dumb...
Try finding a grown up to read out your own words you randomly type BEFORE you press the "Reply" button, it might help prevent you making a complete arse out of yourself here (it wont help you in the real world though as being terminally stupid and making a laughing stock of yourself is incurable)... ;-)
@Franko Spierso I will write what I like I'm not going to change just for you you shit for brains you don't like it do one you don't even know I am do you
A Lip-syncing video = them miming to their studio recording.
Well, if it's OK for Britney Spears to do it, why not them?
They just like virtually every band on t Top Of The Pops were lip syncing looooong before Britney Spears was ever born... ;-)
is this a remake coz I can't tell ^O^
No it's not
Why the f*** did they put that fat b**** from Fife Jockie Wilson up on TOTP, behind the band on the wall wtf
Watch this : hungh!
Class.
+Noodles37UK
The original rumour goes, that someone on TOTP messed up and didn't have a clue who JACKIE Wilson was, so they put up a picture of JOCKY Wilson whom was quite famous around that time...
However it has been said since that Kevin Roland himself was responsible for it as he thought it would be funny...
Ah @MadFranko008
+Noodles37UK Jocky is the best thing to come out of Scotland since the devil created the scots
He's better looking than you will ever be.
The Young Ones <3
+Michael Creed What episode? Series 1?
+Noodles37UK This isn't from "The Young Ones" this is from the Dutch TV show called "Top Pop" from 1982... ;-)
No he probably means they appeared on The Young Ones. Suddenly the story would stop and a pop band would miraculously appear in the kitchen and do a song. Then the story would resume.
The Damned , Nasty is one. Motorhead did Ace of Spades i think.@MadFranko008
Bravissimo !
And the mighty Rhino on bass guitar,Status Quo’s finest
Amazing quality video, but where did Kevin hide the brass? :-)
+FabSteff66 I think a couple of them were buried under those old tyres and the rest were hiding under the stairs... :-)
+FabSteff66 And they must have had like five shotgun mics just out of camera all pointed at KR for those vocals to be so crystal clear...
My mother brought me up to music like this, 13 years old a metal head and love them XD
Classic Robins

go, Rollo!
Fab! Kevin roland, sure puts his heart an soul into getting, his MUSIC Acoss! ! Saw them twice '82'. And 2008! X
Great to see homeless people like this singing, not begging in the street
They are not homeless you dickhead
Superb, I watched this and noticed the bass players dancing looks familiar, thought about it and 'bing' Status Quo, none other than John "Rhino" Edwards, would you credit it,your channel's an education Franko, we are really not worthy : )
+ahalin I've been watching these DMR videos for awhile now, and kind of zeroed in on the bass player cause he seemed like such a character. Never saw him in the band after the Too-rye -ay stuff and wondered if he had sunk into oblivion and thought that was a shame. Apparently he has not!...
Another great video.
