Devo - Subhuman Woman Lyrics
My Woman's Subhuman
(she won't talk)
My Woman's Subhuman
(she can't talk)
My Woman's Subhuman
(she came from space)
My Woman's Subhuman
(she's got no face)
She's bald, she's cold
She's eight years old
She's gonna live for the future
She's got a six foot sign
Subhuman Woman [x5]

Devo Subhuman Woman Comments
It's Friday! It's Friday! Yowza! Yowza! La La La!!!
This sounds almost early industrial. Like TG meets The Screamers, meets The Residents & Capt. Beefheart.
Oh yeah. Jerry actually described Devo's early sound as "industrial, but more in a Little Rascals sense and less like Nine Inch Nails" during an interview in '94. You can hear it as well in the 1974 concert I have up. Jim Mothersbaugh's homebrew electronic drum set, engineered to sound _specifically_ industrial, is the centerpiece no doubt.
@Max Devo
Yeah! I agree. Not to mention, that Nine Inch Nails would certainly be far from my mind when referring to what I know and often like best in the kinds of industrial muzak that I listen to.
@Max Devo
7:16 ... this is exactly how Cosey Fanni Tutti sounds when she plays the treated feedback guitar parts in the song, Persuasion by TG.
@Kurt Slotkowski Knowing the equipment the boys had at the time, I'd say Mark got his sound by running a clavinet through an overdrive and a wah pedal. God, the early sounds Mark got out of his gear are infectious and iconic.
does anymore of that SICK sounding Chango exist? That intro part isn't on my CD, if I remember correctly
It exists for sure, but I don't think it's available to anyone except whoever holds the materials.
surfing devo because i like it
Bet some of the audience members freaked out with Devo's futuristic synth sounds...🐒
Most of the audience had either left or were yelling at them to get off the stage by the second song. Subhuman Woman alone went on for 8 minutes.
Too funny! Weeded 'em out within minutes...Lol!!!
Is this stuff available anywhere on the internet - like Archive.org or some "other" place?
+Kent Manthie Booji Boy's Basement.com assuming that it's still functional. Theres instructions on the website on how to order these on cd. But, Subhuman Woman was released officially on Devo Live - The Mongoloid Years which you can probably find that on ebay or amazon.
@floydian1 right on. thanks.
It's probably best to skip to 3:08,unless you like getting really angry by listening to a fucking Idiot scream in microphone
duh-VO! HAHAHAHA!! That's what he calls 'em at 2:58.
That's how it was pronounced pre-1991.
1:46 my personal highlight for this concert
It's been 39 years.
@Dylan Hunt correct
Amazing DEVO collection!!!
Murray Saul just died.
That's too bad.
Get Down in peace, Murray.
Murray Saul is dead.....
Do you think you can find the version of "bamboo bimbo" that was played at this show?
I try to do everything in my power to fully archive the early days of the De-Evolution Band. That is my pledge.
Funny thing about that Murray Saul guy in the intro, I've listened to him speak on a couple other clips around YouTube and I gotta say, he doesn't really sound any different when he's not (apparently) drunk or high. :P
"We're gonna do it 'cause we GOT-TA, GOT-TA, GOT-TA...got-ta...got-ta..."
I'm aware, and I acknowledged that at the very end of the description.
maybe... if Devo's re-releasing the 'Hardcore' albums, will they re-release 'The Mongoloid Years'? Let's keep our fingers crossed.
This is also on the Mongoloid years.
You: "Oh, great, MORE Devo?"
Me: "Eeyup."
And just in time for Halloween! This was recorded live on October 31, way back in 1975!
That's the whole point of it.
Also, your usage of that pun is 41 years late.
Even so!
And yes, I am a massive DEVOtee.
