Devo - Post Post-Modern Man Lyrics
If I had a hammer, I'd wake up my neighbors
Pounding out a rhythm all about you
If I had a pencil I'd push me some paper
I'd build a skyscraper to get close to you
And land on an island next to you
If I had a hot rod I'd fasten up my seatbelt
And break the speed limit gettin' to you
But I ain't got a hammer and I ain't got a pencil
And I ain't got a lasso so I'm doing it the hard way
Like a post post-modern man
If I had a credit card I'd clear me a pathway
Through the deepest jungle right to your door
And collect up the pictures of you of couse
But I ain't got a hot rod and I ain't got a credit card
No chance for a camera so I'm doing it the hard way
Like a post post-modern man
Well, I ain't got a hammer and I ain't got a lasso
No chance for a camera so I'm doing it the hard way

I get such a Tim and Eric vibe from this video Iooool
The Irishman rippin off Devo, dudes in senior sunglasses tearing through highway in a Lincoln and guns are involved. Noting new here..
@Gordon yes, because smartphones have solved rampant devolution eating the cities from the inside out, wait....
Hey DEVO, in the music video for that's good the French frie breaks in the donut and her name is donut I wonder if there was a deliberate reference or joke in it.
Whenever I have to go a day without listening to Devo, I feel just like Donut feels in this video.
Did the person who made this video also make the video for Success by Sigue Sigue Sputnik
Superior to the remix.
0:20 me when there's a bit of wind and i wear baggy pants
Can't imagine not liking dancey Devo. Fun shit, and Devo's devolution through the 80s and 90s mirrors society's own.
Finally someone who gets It, a real tomato among the soupe dujour guzzling mediocretins in this comment section
"Bob" bless you spud¡¡¡
Bad song
Obviously this doesn’t compare to their first run of albums but I still think it’s surprisingly decent. Just the dancey drum beat makes it sound naggingly dated
That was the point, if you talk like that It means their infiltration in the mainstream was successful.
Duty now for the past, because It has definitely became their future and our present.
wild video
Good song.
Sure this era isn't as good as classic Devo but I still really like this song.
worst devo era.
Mark looks strangely like Elvis Costello when he's wearing those sunglasses
needs more eyebrows
It sounds like Information Society, pure freestyle.
1:09-1:16
the @ss moving
that is aweful
To think, a single Smart Phone could have saved the day.
fuck a day
De-evolution in action.
they fucking nailed it. if u dont get it ur spuds prob-b-bly roasted
Devo's dark times were so bad, they couldn't even get the right Donut Rooter!😑 This is the only song I like off Smooth Noodle Maps though, and Stuck in a Loop!
HDM Reviews pink jazz trancers is a good song too
I know the band hates Shout, but what do they think about Total Devo and this crap?
total devo has actually recently been reissued as a two cd/2 lp with outtakes and stuff, snm will never be re-released though
@Tampaterry54 SNM has just been re-released by the same company. They also did the EZ Listening album.
I keep coming back to this as a joke but at this point am I?
I kind of like it in a shrugging my shoulders is all I can say kind of way.
I AM D-E-V-O, but this video made not a lick of sense! Ain't no video spot cooler than "R U Xperienced"?. Now that's the pure deal of deals!
Better than the Disco Dancer video, it just repulsed me. But, this is stomachable with the road trip, but Are You Experienced was the best song and video when they started de-evolving it was just really weird and awesome and a good cover.
Aw, my family had a Town Car like this. I like the other version WAY better that this edit
This is true romance like a favorite ski slope in winter.
Sometimes it's wonderful and other times it's a wipeout.
This mix is different than the album (and radio single)...
Early 1990's Devo depresses me.
That could be, Tampaterry54.
all music from early 90s depress me,but this makes want to kill myself.
Just forget you saw it, Moth-owl.
