Devo - Disco Dancer Lyrics
I'm a disco dancer
But I've got no place to go
(I'm a disco boy I'm a disco boy)
I'm a disco dancer baby
But my feet wont touch the floor
Oh no
I've been sleeping twenty years or more
I remember a long time ago
(I'm a disco boy I'm a disco boy)
Nya nya nya nya
Now I'm back to change your mind
Now I'm moving right in time
In a world that's turned unkind
I see what's going on behind my back
I'm a disco dancer
(I'm a disco boy I'm a disco boy)
Oh no
I'm a disco dancer baby
But I think that something's wrong

Devo Disco Dancer Comments
this was a long way from Akron
Warner’s just dropped them and a fledgling low budget record company named Enigma picked them up. They just didn’t have any money aka help from their company and it showed.
who are the girls dancing in the background?
you are
l amm can see
disco dancer qand world can seem 23
we love in 7\\\\\
3:53 split second shot . that chick flicking her tongue out real fast . don't know if she is manic with sex lust or bloodlust
If I was a UFC fighter, this would be the song I come out to.
I recognize the male voice that goes "AUNGH" midway through the song (2:03-2:04). That's a sample of David Byrne of Talking Heads, taken from the start of "Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)" from 1980.
Whatever happened to the original video? I know I saw it playing at SPIT on Long Island when the song first came out. Very different from this version. It featured the happy/sad faces logo and had a look more like the cover of the 12".
thats a great soul/funk guitar riff . love those simple bob hairstyles of the two female dancers too
I was at the NY filming. It was at a club called the World. Fun times
suppose they had to evolve into a polished , well produced band to pay bills or to prevent being screwed by the middlemen in their recording contracts
great track....shared to the Netshows Radio "Program 190" Playlist on youtube
DEVO HITTING AN ALL TIME LOW!
I really like the girl dancers. Sorry, the girl disco dancers.
My whole life is one big disco! I'm constantly on look-out for new groovy-affairs..
Even though the world has turned unkind - i can see whats going on, behind my back.. GET DOWN CHILDREN, TO THE FUNKY VIBE OF "BOB"..
I love this DEVO original, but I swear Duran Duran should cover this...they could all wear DEVO hats (energy domes) in some way...Simon LeBon could tie his behind him like a preppie sweater, or a bonnet perhaps. It would be awesome. I hope they make it happen
pure genius.
This reminds me of "Disco Boy" from Frank Zappa
Great tune. Devo are great!
This is the song Roberto Duran wishes Duran^2 wishes they wrote
Holy Geez
NOT Devo's finest moment.....
This tune is rad!!
I think this was their Duran Duran phase
This great song reminds me of Duran Durans' Electric Barbarella
Trump Tower at 0:25. LOL
highly underrated tune.,
So this is the song that is influenced by Hindi “Disco Dancer”.
This is not the album mix. This is a mix by a DJ called Ivan Ivan. He did a much better job than Devo did. The album was a disaster in sales, but the DJ was able to salvage this cut and print it on an EP.
apparently the band agreed enough to use it as the official video
Ivan ivan produced one of my dad's band's albums
@louroul 06 cool story, babe. Go make me a sandwich.
I think this album is pretty good as a standalone.
@Alex F. I'm a boy
Saw them in an Oakland CA club during their tour. The mosh pit was insane.
Like a nerdy Ghostbusters lol
Edit: NERDIER Ghostbusters ha
Love me some DeVo !
Does anyone know who is the two female backup singers are?
I always wondered the same thing. They were hot.
One of them is Mark Mothersbaugh's ex-wife Nancye Ferguson.
I believe they've been billed as "La Femmes Devo."
Greta "Greta" Ionita and Nancy "Nan" Vernon
I still love this tune!
Three people have no soul.
Jerry playing guitar, and Mark playing Bongos?! Now I've seen everything!
Ah man.... Devo in the start of their dark ages! After Shout is when it all went downhill until they reunited!
I disagree... DEVO was always evolving. That was a fun album for me... :-)
DEVOlving.
Devo ended with the Myers' departure. Their recent effort and hardcore era revival deserve respect though.
I saw them live on this tour and they were still great live.
I still believe that Shout was the start of it all.
Production destroyed that poor album.
This song was about 15 years ahead of its time.....Like most DEVO songs.
i am disco dancer
But my feet won't touch the floor
Does anyone know of music videos pre MTV besides Jocko? 70's stuff. I would love to see them if you can link them here. I love Devo The Band! I hate it when people cover one of there songs and don't acknowledge Devo. That sorta thing in regards to any artist shall now be referred to as Devodevolution, so write vital down and tell yer Sister
Byron P Penick There’s also a video called Secret Agent Man which was featured in a movie they in the 1976 called The Truth about De-evolution. Jocko Homo was also in that movie
Thanks! we are devo
I cannot remember which album this track is off of but, I need to repurchase it and Smooth Noodle Maps, 1 and 2 whilst I am at it before I purchase my Polk Audio surround system to connect with my PlayStation 4 pro, and 55 inch ultra HD 4k television. Yes life is sweet.
Its Total Devo. 1988 they were on a Japanese label. The album was great but didnt resonate for some reason. The 12 inch of this was fantastic.
I have it on "Now It Can Be Told" which is a live recording. TWICE as good as this one!! A TAD bit faster.
now it can be told yes thanks
Total Devo
I have it on Vinyl. Great album. Check out "Baby Doll" too.
FUCKING GENIUS!!!
I love this song!
