Devin Townsend - Demon League Lyrics

Hide away from it all
Say tomorrow it comes, and then
I'm alone
Suppose
I know... I know...
The demons call
Hide away from it all
Say tomorrow it comes, and then
I'm alone
Suppose
I know... I know...
The demon call

Devin Townsend Demon League Comments

Ki is a magical experience, mostly the second half of the album imo, atleast from Terminal and unwards. I like the phrase "The demon, the demon go" Can be used a metaphor for once own fears and stress while laying down and listening to it, imagining all of your fears, stress and traumas go away!

I love how this song lyrically leads into Addicted. It's so darkly melancholy, a man sitting alone at the end of a calm period of clarity listening to the whispers in his head, knowing that mania is about to set in knowing that despite it all he will let it take him again.

  3. N.... I....

The ending noises make the whole song feel so organic. You can just feel Devin casually putting down his guitar and leaving the studio room. Awesome.

  4. B.... ....

Music that makes musicians want to make music... or crap, if you don't like it.  To each his own I guess.  I prefer to be inspired.

  5. w.... ....

Townsend is at least sometimes. He has some pure ambient albums.

  6. M.... H....

    This is a beautiful song

  7. C.... ....

    Devy Metal.

By the way Insurgentes is one of my favourite albums, some amazing music there. I remember the first time I heard it, I was in a particularly crappy mood and was off walking around the British countryside near our house on a very grey, rainy, misty day. The music just fit perfectly with the weather and the scenery and I was blown away. Loved it ever since.

  9. m.... ....

No, you are right, i perhaps should have said they both incorporate those styles into their music.

  10. K.... ....

    Progressive, experimental...;)

  11. K.... ....

Neither Wilson nor Townsend are ambient/drone composers?

  12. S.... ....

can someone tell me what genre is this? i cant associate it with anything!

  13. K.... S....

kinda reminds me of Tool, Opeth too

  14. l.... ....

@mattthedream Ehh... Just my personal opinion but I really thought Insurgentes was pretty bad. It sounded just like Porcupine Tree except it was like he took all of the forgettable PT songs and made an album out of it. I love Porcupine Tree, Insurgentes just felt like a failure to me.

  15. T.... ....

Def love all sides of this guy, from Earth Day to songs like this..It really makes you examine metal bands who shovel out the same shit every cd..really who is just one emotion and personality?

  16. S.... ....

@Mel7vc Dude, fall asleep while a friend drives you somewhere while listening to Infinity. That entire album is just one enormous lucid dream.

  17. M.... F....

@XFunkWizardX Cool. I've also found that if I fall asleep to Dev's music it initiates some amazing dreams, some with him in them, so real that I feel I've met him. I wish.

  18. A.... O....

    @Mel7vc That's what I did last night.

It is often said there are those that do, those who teach, and those who criticize.......

but music like this, leaves only room for those not listed above:

    ......those who listen.

May you live in interesting times.....and may your soundtrack, be that of Devin Townsend....for your ears will never accomplish a greater love.

Such a beautiful song, so ambient. It's a great end to a great album, even symbolic with the shutting door at the end. Devin Townsend is one the greatest modern musicians, his style has expanded from the heaviest extreme metal to ambiance. Can't wait for Ghost and Deconstruction, and then the second Ziltoid album! Devin is making 2011 a great year for music lovers.

  21. h.... ....

Saw him live two days ago in LA. I can easily say that his live is much much better than the album.

  22. S.... ....

I'm trying to figure out the lyrics to every song on this album. It's all a part of a huge storyline, I can tell.

I have already figured out what Addicted is about, so now I'm trying to decode this. Too bad I can't hear Devy's awesome voice...

  23. M.... V....

@lordcrull Watershed is great but not the best opeth-album .. my fav is damnation

  24. M.... F....

It is particularly awesome if listened to at night, in bed with headphones. Out of this world in fact....

  25. a.... ....

BOOOOOM!!!!!!! the Best DT song ever. I1m really cryin'

  26. d.... ....

im right there with ya brother. my band writes lamb of god and pantera type music.. when i found devin townsend i was blown away dude.. it really has affected my writing, i dont write things that impressive ppl on a flashy technical level anymore. just music.. thats simply it. what sounds good and whats from the inside. dev is an amazing artist. a true artist... keep rockin

  27. J.... S....

on watershed i like the use of various tones and the atmosphere that the record sets. generally opeth do good job of setting an atmosphere but on watershed they deliver something that is just a bit different then previous records.

in some ways water shed throws back to really old opeth i.e. morning rise, orchid or still life

  28. L.... C....

Sweet, someone else who like Opeth!

What did you like about Watershed?

  29. Z.... S....

probably has something to do with this album being made by someone who's typically a player of aggressive music. I mean, look at Strapping Young Lad.

  30. J.... S....

as a musician i ocassionally stumble across a record that makes me want to wright better music, this record is one of them. the last one being opeth's watershed.

side note: i generally prefer aggressive music so for this to make an impact on me it has to be something extraordinary!

  31. S.... ....

    Here here!

  32. W.... ....

    Quality album

  33. m.... ....

who here likes Steven Wilson's Insurgentes? I think it is a class album, another great ambient/drone composer
