Time will be on my side

Devin Townsend 3 A.M. Comments
What guitar effect does he use on the clean guitar at the beginning of Voices in the Fan, it sounds amazing
VOICES IN THE FAN IS A REAL SECRET BTW
5:18
Is this a sample?
If you know the original one it is taken from, just let me know! :D
It sounds so beautiful...
Orlandus Lassus: Lagrimi Di San Pietro - Giovane Donna Il Suo Bel Volto In Specchio that`s the piece
@Vlad Carcea Thank you so much!
You know, Voices in the Fan really does remind me of my childhood when I was fascinated by the simple pleasure of hearing the way my voice sounded when talking into a fan in the summertime. It's not even just the name either, its overall sound evokes those feelings as well. One of the more underrated songs on this masterpiece of an album.
I'm still speechless fifteen years after I discovered it the first time how he manage to pull off this album so efficiently. It's so harmonic and cohesive all way through. I love the transition from 3 am till voices in the fan and the transition from the song itself till the ending choir part. Good find of dev to find that
Healing stuff right here. Play this for PTSD or any anxiety victims and they will calm down right away, my favorite part of the album is from Hide Nowhere to after Voices In The Fan, its the most soothing part of the album. I know Funeral Bastard and Death of music are the biggest emotional highlight. But Hide Nowhere, Sister, 3. Am. and Voices in the Fan makes up for the most soothing and relaxing part of the album, if could fall asleep to those four tracks any night.
im fucking obsessed with these songs D:
Tiiiiiiime will be ooooon my siiiiiiide
wow I didn't realize some of the lyrics in colour your world comes from this
I've been obsessed with this album for too long. Like 1999 or something
never not amazed with devin. he constantly has something to rip me apart
HELP! Who knows the background words of female outro after 4 min. 57 sec.? It goes like: "Ladies and gentlemen, you are talking to me if you ....." Am I right, who can undesrtand that???
Ivan Petrow you made out more words than I ever could have.
wow cool find, i've listened to this song more times than i can count and i've never heard that
Yeah, this album contains very many background quotes/spoken words. But, can you hear what I hear? Maybe I was wrong about some words...
3 A.M. is so beauteous. I wish Devin will make more songs like this in the future.Ambient stuff is awesome.
I already checked The Hummer before, it is beautiful as well!! Also another experrimental noise album is Devlab.:)
A lot of his songs have ambient stuff
Yeah that is true, but I hope he can make only whole ambient album. :) Something like Ghost :)
He's coming out with an album tentatively titled Garden Music pretty soon. Keep your eyes peeled.
Heck yeah! Transcendence was good too.
anybody knows the gregorian song at the end? or it is Devin's creation?

Tsu Ki, I cannot thank you enough for sharing that information. You have just solved a 19 mystery for me. Even Devin did not remember what recording he sampled when we asked him about it years ago. I have 20 years of library experience including 15 years in a music library, and even I could not manage to pinpoint the exact composition. I was looking in the right time period, but I thought it might be Palestrina. You have made me very happy today. Thank you.
I love you for this! I've been searching for it since the album came out and someone actually had the nerve to tell me it was stock library music!
Hoora Yay, thank you for sharing this information. I've been wondering about Devin Townsend's source sample for last few years.
They were probably mixing up the story. According to Dev's wife, Devy went to the local library and sampled a lot of recordings from the collection.
I've been listening to this album since 2009! #thegoodolddays
this album puts me AND my son to sleep at night..
+Alexanderlovesmetal Except for the ending of Things Beyond Things. That scream is pure nightmare fuel.
Wow this song(s) is reallly cool.
From my world, I bring you... greeeeeetings....
Definition of epic.. <3 you "HevyDevy".
any chance you could upload 3am on it's own? nobody has at all
My favorite song, so beautfiul masterpiece album, this song inspires me a lot
Me also. It's so soothing and relaxing yet so powerful
Ghost has a similar sound, but a completely different atmosphere. 3 AM is lonely and reflective, while Ghost is relaxed and carefree.
Disagree. I don't think ghost is nearly as relaxing as this. It wants too much to be meditative. Fly is a good song though and feather. I have anxiety. And for me the best cure is listening to 3.am. And. Voices in the fan. Just puts my fears to sleep. It's amazing
*ahem* ghost. I know, not completely the same... maybe not even as chill... still fantastic
Time will be on my side...
Devy should have made more music like 3 A.M.
It'll be a source of nostalgia for you some day.
Omygod. XD I would envy them forever. To have an album as great as this be a source of nostalgia...
Don't ever become a parent...
If anything I find Voices... quite uplifting
This is one of the most depressing songs of all time for me. XD
shoulda thrown sister in too
WHO'S THE WEAKEST NOW????
i am glad ,
@Stalfos212 im 31 and i listen to it daily
@TARASOILWORK
Haha, I'm 18 and I do that quite often.
i think that children should listen to this album before they go to bed at night.
Especially thing beyond things
I'm 27 and i listen to this album before i go to bed lol
