I loved the original when it came out with ozzy, but this version to me speaks so much darker and deeper and i think i prefer this version better.

Gonna play devil's advocate for a minute. I like both of these vocalists on their own, so stay with me for a minute...throw the vocals out and just listen to the instrumentation. It's a pretty awful cover of a legendary song. It's really pretty "poppy" with no edge at all, which neither one of these vocalists would sign off on if they did the cover on their own. It relies on those two to give it an "edge," and they deliver. The original can stand on it's own musically and well, nothing needs to be said about Lita and Ozzy... they're Icons. "Covers" it seems, have taken the place of the "power ballad" formula that was prevalent in the 80's... everybody is doing them. Some have multiple covers (ironic, in that this song is indeed, a power ballad). There's more than a few bands that have a "cover" as their greatest commercial success. Some are really good and even challenge the original. But that said, the vast majority are really pretty bad. Songwriting of music today is pretty damn stale. The talent is certainly there...so I don't know why the hell musicians today don't use it. Is it the Record Label's fault? Partially, because across the board in every genre, artists are pressured to bang out as may three minute songs as they can so one might get lucky and get play on the radio or digital media. Quality suffers. When's the last time you heard a five minute hit? Or a friggin guitar solo? As a whole, music sucks nowadays. Where are the "Guns n Roses" or the edgy Funk and Rap acts of today that blew up the industry when they hit? There is none...and it's long overdue.

the production companies strangle them pretty hard. all they want is hits so they have them pump out clones of songs that sound all the same hoping it'll be as good as the original

@Brad Haines absolutely it is. It's a waste of talent. There's hardly any artists that write their own stuff. Artists don't seem to want to better themselves at their craft. Social media is flat out of control. I'll sing it's praises selfishly (I'm talking about access) because I can pull up any kind of song or genre' with the tap of my finger, but the other side of it is that it's killed touring and that's destroyed the requirement that pushes artists to better themselves at what they do. An arena full of fans that's paid good money to see someone will let artists know if they suck with the quickest. Instead, all we get is the "smoke and mirrors show" that is what's on the net. Bands don't have to tour to support material and that waters everything down. Image has totally buried talent. A catchy vocal hook and a decent riff that lasts just under three minutes is all you need... until the next "flavor of the week" comes along. And don't get me started on the auto-tune crap. Music as a whole is sick, and I mean f*cking diseased. It's BORING as a whole. Image is everything and substance is nothing past the borrowed stacks of money and the rented super car. Five years from now ninety percent of artists that are popular will be gone and they have nobody to blame but themselves... after all the money they made by covering someone else's stuff is gone. There won't be enough air-time to fit all the one hit wonders into... and I'll croak before the next "Guns n Roses" shows up.

You don't understand, Device is an industrial metal band. Industrial rock and industrial metal is supposed to sound slightly poppy/ overproduced. It's part of the aesthetic of the genere

From David and Izzy I expected much more. Original was more going on emotions, gave some power. This song is just singed. David have created perfect songs made of covers. This one is just cover singed in basic way. Good for radio, bad for emotions.

Saw Device on the Giantour the band was signing autographs talked to David Driamond for 30 seconds really like his voice and because that I discovered the band Disturbed. Lzzy Hale has a hell of a voice for a woman.
