Dessa - Velodrome Lyrics

I don't believe
My will's quite free
I'm half machine
At least half steam
Aquinas, call on me
How many angels on the head of your pin?
Anybody in stilettos can answer that old thing
It's one for the right foot, one for the left
Half an angel per pin at best
Add wings, add heart, add harp, all set

We lean to turn in the velodrome
All lines are curved in the velodrome
We pitch and roll, wheels flesh and bones
Total control and it's
It's ours alone
[x2]

It goes gospel, gossip, slander
Harvest, hunger, rain dance
Hand-to-god, I didn't think it was contagious
Eve leaving Eden in a makeshift dress
With a bell to tell us when we're hungry
There's a bell to tell us when we're tired
A bell that tells us to rise and fight
A bell to rise and die
It's just all bells
Sometimes I ring myself
To see if I might chime

We lean to turn in the velodrome
All lines are curved in the velodrome
We pitch and roll, wheels flesh and bones
Total control and it's
It's ours alone
[x2]

We spend our days and nights deciding
Where to go and how to ride there
And in the end again
We all vote yes
We all turn left

We lean to turn in the velodrome

If the USPS puts out a DESSA stamp issue - will they use the dark haired version or the newer blonde Dessa?
    We will need 2 stamps.

    G.... A....

Thank you for raising this concern my friend, it is of vital importance. However one must also ask, will the stamps feature just Doomtree or also the Minnesota Orchestra?
    We will need four stamps.

Having just finally listened to the new Florence + the Machine album... I would pay so much money to see Florence cover this song and Dessa cover Shake It Out or Sky Full of Song.

The more I listen to this song, the more beautiful it becomes.

This one's super gorgeous. Something about Dessa's voice makes vocoders sound extra cool.

  13. v.... ....

I didn't know what a Velodrome was so I was imagining a collection of female cyborg knights that fly around in a gyrocopter and their lives are incredibly controlled due to their cybernetic augmentations....

    v.... ....

no, a velodrome is a place where you ride a bike in circle. the tarmac is made made of i know what. the faster you ride, the more perpendicular to the pull of gravity you get, if choose to ride up the slope. its fun
    then you fail.
but the adrenaline will force right back onto your bike
    have fun

    v.... ....

I kind of like that better, actually

    v.... ....

Look up '6 Day Bicycle Racing'
"I'm half machine, at least half steam", indeed.
