Denver, John - The Game Is Over Lyrics
Time, there was a time, you could talk to me without speaking.
You would look at me and I'd know all there was to know.
Days I think of you and remember the lies we told in the night.
The love we knew, the things we shared when our hearts were beating together.
Gone, the days are gone now, days that seem so wrong now.
Life won't be the same without you to hold again in my arms to ease the pain.
And remember when our love was a reason for living.
Days that were so few full of love and you. The game is over.

Denver, John The Game Is Over Comments
He covered songs better then the originals. When I heard them I thought he wrote them as they suited him better. So miss him
Wow. First time I have heard this. So very sad but beautifully sung as usual. Bless you John.
I was searching for Frank Sinatra's version of "The Game is Over" which he recorded on November 2, 1970; when I found this. Sinatra released a statement when John passed away saying, "The world had lost the truest voice a song had ever known," I couldn't agree more. Thank-You so much for sharing.
this is true, definitely not on the original Spirit album but on Whose Garden Was This.
Labels frequently re-release tracks on various albums, sometimes calling them bonus tracks. When I searched the only album containing this song that came up was Spirit, but it appears you're correct. It first appeared on Whose Garden Was This.
Sorry, it's not from Spirit. It's just a bonus track on Spirit. It's from Whose Garden Was This? The record label just put tracks from Whose Garden Was This on the Spirit CD instead of releasing Whose Garden Was This? on it's own.
