Denver, John - I Want To Live Lyrics
There are children raised in sorrow on a scorched and barren plain,
there are children raised beneath a golden sun.
There are children of the water, children of the sand,
and they cry out through the universe, their voices raised as one:
I want to live, I want to grow, I want to see, I want to know,
Have you gazed out on the ocean, seen the breaching of a whale?
Have you watched the dolphins frolic in the foam?
Have you heard the song the humpback hears five hundred miles away?
Telling tales of ancient history of passages and home?
I want to live, I want to grow, I want to see, I want to know,
I want to share what I can give, I want to be, I want to live.
For the worker and the warrior, the lover and the liar, for the native and the wanderer in kind.
For the maker and the user, and the mother and her son.
We are standing all together, face to face and arm in arm.
We are standing on the threshold of a dream.
No more hunger, no more killing, no more wasting life away.
It is simply an idea and I know its time has come.
I want to live, I want to grow, I want to see, I want to know,
I want to share what I can give, I want to be,
I want to live, I want to grow, I want to see, I want to know,
I want to share what I can give, I want to be, I want to live.
I want to live, I want to grow, I want to see, I want to know,
I want to share what I can give, I want to be, I want to live, I want to live, I want to live.

MISSING ME SOME JOHN DENVER. Some critics think Denver had passed his peak by 1979, but this performance shows he was still at his best in 1991. Great vocals, no autotune, great message. Tell me, which singer today performs as well? He was a great man, and I was missing him tonight. Go with God, John.
There would be no hungry, ragged children in America if everyone cared as much about the welfare of actual children as they do about the welfare of fetuses.
Music of yesteryears are gold...today's r all trash!
This song got me through a lot of tough times as a child. John Denver wrote this song when he was serving on the President's Commission on World Hunger in the late '70's. He co-founded the World Hunger Project.
Such a great voice!
One of the most emotional songs I have ever known. Through music, long live John Denver. 💞💗💞

My friend Adam Nelson favorite song and he lived by until yesterday. He past away from cancer but left behind a daughter and twin boys. He loved his children and enjoyed watching them grow up. This song helped him after his Brother past away as a teenager from cancer too. May we all live and help others and find peace. God Bless.

How antiabortion zealots can say this is about the unborn is ludicrous. In his preface, he mentions NEWBORNS, not fetuses. The antiabortion zealots are truly screwed up on the head. This has nothing to do with abortion.
My son was born a whole month early. He just couldn't wait to experience life. Conception is God's petri dish of life.
one of the most profoundly beautiful songs- words, song content, performance- all top notch: ".... we are standing all together.....on the threshhold of a dream...no more hunger, no more killing, no more wasting life away..." For those that believe, soon John, soon!!
