Denver, John - Friends With You Lyrics

What a friend we have in time. Gives us children, makes us wine.
Tells us what to take or leave behind.
And the gifts of growing old, all the stories to be told
of the feelings more precious than gold.

Friends I will remember you, think of you, pray for you.
And when another day is through, I'll still be friends with you.

Baby's days are never long. Mother's laugh is baby's song.
Gives us all the hope to carry on.

Friends I will remember you, think of you, pray for you.
And when another day is through, I'll still be friends with you.
Friends I will remember you, think of you, pray for you.
And when another day is through, I'll still be friends with you.
My friends, I will remember you, think of you, pray for you.
And when another day is through, I'll still be friends with you.

This song played at the funeral for my cross country coach who died at 48 of bone marrow cancer. It was the saddest funeral I’ve ever been too. Everyone sang along and cried. This song will always have a lasting impact on me and I will remember him whenever I hear it. RIP Coach Feryn. Best coach I ever had.

Seems like Joe brought us both here. I didn't know this John Denver song - - now it is forever with me. Joe was a friend of mine for 20 years. As the sheer number of those who came to mourn and celebrate him attests, there was none like him.

  11. B.... G....

This is a great tune. It would have been a nice song for The Beatles to cover, with Paul taking lead.

Roger Miller's Rings for Sale has the same mellow feeling of friendship.
John not only died too soon but his singing & acting career peaked too quickly, in the mid 70s.
