Denny, Sandy - Forever Young Lyrics

May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb up every rung
May you stay forever young

Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young

May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see it's light surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
And may you stay forever young

Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young

Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young

May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
May your song always be sung
And may you stay forever young

Forever young, forever young
May you stay forever young
Stay forever young

    WOW WOW WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 76yo Aussie fan.

  2. p.... ....

At long last Sandy Denny is being recognised as the UK's greatest ever female vocalist. Her choice in men wasn't her strongest point

  3. 2.... ....

STAY FOREVER YOUNG SANDY @ TREVOR AND THANKS FOR THIS GREAT VERSION OF THIS CLASSIC DYLAN SONG.

  4. 2.... ....

Pete Toweshend of the great WHO said once said Sandy Denny had the perfect voice he was absolutedly spot on their is no better singer in musical history she was an amazing talent who sadly left us to young how I wish she was still with us today singing in that beautiful voice of hers.

    2.... ....

I agree, that is a quite a reference!

  5. 2.... ....

Great song written by Bob Dylan and a superb version by the great Fairport Convention with the wonderful Sandy Denny and her husband Trevor Lucas both so sadly missed R.I.P. MY FRIENDS.

  6. K.... K....

    Thanks Max!

Maybe he wasn't such a nice guy. But this one is outrageous. Listened to it on my fourtieth birthday - and could't hold the tears...

    W.... a....

I knew them both personally (we lived in the same village) and Trevor was a fun bloke. I never saw him behave badly but I'm sure Sandy's drug habit caused them problems. My greatest regret was that Sandy did a free concert for villagers but I couldn't go for some stupid reason (a girl probably) and Sandy died very shortly afterwards. Shocked!

  8. k.... d....

well, poor Sandy is forever young :(

  9. V.... M....

    Lovely.

  10. S.... M....

    Where the ***k is Sandy

    S.... M....

i know! i was disappointed indeed.

  11. R.... D....

At long long last Sandy is being widely heard and new people coming to love her music, and the same should happen for Trevor.

  12. f.... ....

I guess you could say both Sandy & Trevor have stayed forever young.......Just such a sad, sad loss though that they gone and at a such a young age.I don't know it just strikes me in a strange way sometimes that here they were married and lost in such tragic circumstances.  Georgia lost both her parent's when she was so young.

    f.... ....

Georgia did attend the folk hall of fame award ceremony in UK for Sandy's award in 2016 (followed Cecil Sharp and Ewan MacColl who were named in 2014 and 2015! Trevor's music was so undervalued; Sandy was "the Lady" and her wonderful spell on all of us has lasted for 50 years

  13. U.... G....

    BELLISSIMAAAAAAAAA

  14. W.... W....

"Who knows where the time goes."

  15. W.... W....

"Who knows where the time go."

  16. T.... B....

I enjoy listening to the smooth, resonant, tone of Trevor's voice..It is very soothing to the listening ear!! I could listen to him and totally relax..

  17. M.... S....

Listen to the early albums: Dylan changed the way people sing. He is raw and often harsh, He did not intend to be a sweet insipid singer He grates , he invents: he's changed music so everyone can, with talent, make their own music. There are lots of examples, Tom Waites comes to mind. Good God,to compare Dylan with Trevor Lucas is like comparing Norman Rockwell with Van Gogh

    M.... S....

Art is art and it is not comparable. It is what it is.

  18. M.... N....

"I also prefer his version than Dylan's one."

That's not saying much. Dylan is an excellent poet and songwriter. He's a lousy singer. I like Dylan's songs sung by almost anyone else.

    M.... N....

yes! me too,he is a phenomenally good writing but shocking singer.Rod Stewart has done some gorgeous versions of Dylans songs.

    M.... N....

I respectfully disagree, The songwriter knows his song and story like no other can, having said that I'm a big Fairport fan and i love Trevor.s voice.

    M.... N....

Bob Dylan is “the voice of America”. Tutto il resto è noia...

    M.... N....

@kate davenporty Joan Baez also covers his songs - a high standard. saw Dylan live last year in Australia. I am a great fan but the show was terrible.

  19. L.... ....

I UPLOADED the tracks between FAIRPORT 'cause TREVOR &SANDY are better Known as Fairport members and several tracks of the CD are with other fairport members. I will upload the info. Thanks. A lot.

    L.... ....

Thanks for your help from, "Induct Fairport Convention into, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame" !

  20. t.... ....

As far as I'm aware, this version was recorded in Melbourne Australia in 1984 at the Troubador Cafe with Steve Groves on electric guitar, Trevor playing acoustic. I wish the uploader would amend the video title, what with it being recorded in 1984...

  21. l.... ....

    He really nailed it here.

  22. N.... B....

I remember the day Sandy died. We were in shock. I'd met her a few times. She was a friend of my roomate and had given Sue all of her maternity clothes. We cried all night.

    N.... B....

I was ironing and I've never been able to stand doing it now. I am a singer, but whenever I hear Sandy I know that there are Angels ..... and I'm not sure that I'm one! She is still with us in every note she sang and every word she ever wrote. She will always be incomparable and we will always miss her

    N.... B....

I have been a musician for 56+ years, but just discovered her this past December, 2017 ... Just floored when I first heard "Who Knows Where The Time Goes." Good grief. One of the best and most incredible songs and singers I have ever heard ... So glad you got to know her. SO sorry you lost her ... We ALL lost her. What a voice. What a singer.

    N.... B....

You were very lucky to have met Sandy, I envy you, I love Sandy and play her music lots.

  23. n.... ....

Sandy underrated her wonderful voice and inflections. She wrote some great songs. Joni Mitchell is so famous and well-regarded that no one will object if I say I prefer Sandy's contained voice and thoughtful lyrics to Joni's voice and lyrics. Jazz muscians record Joni's songs so she's doing OK critically. The lyrics of Sandy, Fairport and most folk songs are those of senstive honest people and are the voice of those who don't benefit from unfair economic systems.

    n.... ....

i won't object, with the exception of big yellow taxi and i met you on a midway and clouds (possibly a couple of others i will remember later) Joni is a dreadful singer.I loved her when very young but only becaue i had yet to discover Janis, and i didn't discover Sandy until i was in my early 30s.Many artists are better songwriters than they are singers. With age,Jonis voice has deepened to such a degree that i heard her somewhere and thought it was a man singing her song, until corrected.Sandy had such an emotive quality to her singing aswell as the sheer beauty of her voice itself.Very rare and very special.People these days do not know how to sing, believing eroneously that the louder and more you oversing the better singer you will be seen as,it's just horrid..hence all my favourite singers are dead.

  24. n.... ....

Nice to see a happy-looking Sandy

  25. p.... ....

one of my favorites from the Attic Tracks... he was a great and underrated singer, and I hope one day Georgia Lucas will get to appreciate how much Sandy and Trevor meant to us all and still means to us.

  26. P.... V....

WOW... have to add this to my collection of Dylan songs... I discovered Sandy Denny and this group back in 1980... and still can't get enough...

  27. p.... ....

A fine, warm and sincere voice.

  28. m.... ....

Absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much.

  29. D.... P....

    Thanks....Excellent..Sandy, Strawbs,Fairport fan forever,,,,Didn't Have thiss
Makes me feel old (Which I am LOL)..Thanks again

  30. s.... g....

    lovely

  31. L.... ....

Trevor is an underrated singer. His voice is warm, very deep. I also prefer his version than Dylan's one. This song seem to be made for Trevor. There is a live version of 1982 Cropredy re-union but the quality is not very good.
    Thanks for posting.

Thanks for posting this I have always loved Fairport Convention-There was also an all women folk group around this time & it was the Garaggels (sp) it was another group.
