Dennis Brown - Let Me Down Easy Lyrics

Wooh Yeah

Let me down easy
Give me time
To get over you baby
Mmhmmm

Let me down easy
Give me time
To get over you baby
Mmmhmmm

Break it to me gently
If htis is goodbye
(Baby say it slow)
Cause you taught me to love you
So come on girl and teach me not to love you before you go
Oh cause the fall from the top
To the bottom
Is such a sudden drop

So let me down easy
Give me time
To get over you baby
Mmmhmm

Let me down easy
Give me time
To get over you baby
Mmhmmm

Don't turn the lights out on me
Let the fell of love slowly fade away
Let your sweeter sister know
And you're loving arms a little tender day by day
Oh cause the fall
From the top
To the bottom
Is such a sudden drop

So let me down easy
Give me time
To get over you baby

Let me down easy
Give me time to get over you baby
Let me down easy
Give me a lil love girl
Give me time to get over you
Just a little more time
Let me down easy baby

An incredibly natural and talented singer, just like my gorgeous and beautiful George Michael. Gone too soon!💜💓💕💖💗💝💞💟xxx 7.2.19

This song was originally done by Van McCoy (yes, the one who made "The Hustle!") and rerecorded by G.C. Cameron (who, as lead singer of The Spinners gave us "it's A Shame" and, on his own, the original version of "It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday"). Love all the versions of this song.

"Give Me Time" has different meanings to women in different countries, I have learned....Beware. This is a classic.  I only knew the Van McCoy cover until now!  Love Dennis Brown.

  31. S.... J....

I remember seeing DB for the first time in 1974. He appeared at Brixton Town Hall, London. An unforgettable experience! Truly missed!

    Reggae Magic.

  35. c.... h....

pretty sure this is the exact same backing track Derrick Harriott used for his own version of the same song, he did a couple of tunes with Dennis Brown like "Concentration" and "He Can't Spell" in '72 before DB linked up with Niney as producer.

song was written by Van McCoy & Joe Cobb in 1972, was a minor hit in US on Buddah Records.

I love this song sooo much. Much appreciation for my Jamaican background; my parents always playing their old tunes!!!

  39. M.... K....

Left some of the best songs of our generation to cherish for the rest of our lives, i have a painted picture of him holding his mike in my living room... 4eva On1 Lve Dennis, we still love you as much as we did in the 70's -GOD BLESS

  40. s.... r....

    agree !

  41. s.... r....

    so cute!

  42. S.... ....

A DEB classic for real. But let's not forget that neither Derrick Harriott or Dennis Brown recorded this song originally. As with many Jamaican hits of the time, it was a soul cover. The first recording was by Van McCoy who wrote it - and it was later versioned by Motown artist G.C. Cameron, which was probably the version Derrick heard. All versions are good still - wicked song.

    S.... ....

Great song bring back lot of memories

  43. d.... w....

Why have they got pictures of Tabby Diamonds representing D. Brown? It's like the pictures that are posted of some group and the guy who posted them swore he knew The Abyssinians! Until we had to let him know that we are personal bredren with Satta and Linford. Please get things right here. Do! Big D Brown Chune!

There's so much fakery and fuckery on youtube when it comes to reggae...I've seen a dozen songs attributed to Bob Marley that were first recorded long after his death. But scammers who are monetizing their page will say they're by Bob because they know they'll get millions of hits. I've called it to the attention of youtube/Google but they do absolutely nothing. Personally, I prefer the Derrick Harriott version that Dennis covers here, probably because I'm familiar with it.

  44. J.... B....

    A big tune here!!! Classic!!!

  45. q.... ....

crowned prince of reggae, such a powerful voice!

  56. c.... ....

This brings back memories of decent raving back in the day. Yeah, we may have only been 16 and yeah we used to sneak out but we dressed respectably in our finest, treated people's properties with respect, there was no stabbing and fighting, man used to pull you for a dance, man used to smell good, decent curry goat and rice free flowing and if you were one of those that stayed to the end, you could guarantee a fry dumpling brekfast (yes, brekfast not breakfast). Those were the days, indeed.

  57. s.... ....

gives me goosebumps every time I listen to this . .. just lovin' old skool reggae!

    We ALL miss ya DB!
