Oh, and I don't think this song is about the Salem witch trials. It's about witch trials. Salem isn't the only place witches were hanged. And Salem is much farther north than the style of this song. Witches were accused in every place in every time, even today.

I would like to add that while my first assumption that the two working for her were demons, there is also the possibility that they are witches too, as witches in the South were said to have black eyes. Witchcraft also is open to both men and women, but thanks to sexism it has been assigned to women, which could be why the male witches in the story never seem to be in any danger. No believes they could be capable of witchcraft, but they are.
