I loved this album as a kid! Growling it through my bass amp PA and pentagrams on my book covers. I went to a christian school and the teachers there shattered more positive feelings in my mind than any death metal record ever would.

I bought an Exhumed cd, "no guts no glory" or something like that and the vocals on it reminded me alot of glens. Not exactly but its definitely Death Metal, pretty cool music too.

Did in the early days yeh. I have two bands now, my DM band is full with four members. I also play BM in a one-man band, which used to have proggrammed drums but I wouldn't release anything until I learned to play drums myself. Let me know how you get on man, would love to hear some stuff! And if you want some promo I run a real physical fanzine :)

@mattheww187 I always found Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Morbid Angel, SIx Feet Under and Immolation to be highly overated.
A lot of underground bands sound much better, Decrepit Birth is a new band and they're amazing, I suggest you try checking 'em out.
Acid Witch and Cattle Decapitation are two other great new bands, but that doesn't mean I dislike the '80-90's Death Metal scene, it's my favourite.

Even though Deicide isn't my favorite death metal band, Glen Benton is my fave death metal vocalist. All this lame Corpsegrinder-ish kind of throat growling in today's "death metal", just pisses me off.

@mujuma Unfortunately, that's what commercialized metal has turned into. There's still some good shit being released in the underground.

@Ninjuggla maybe someday... But with the majority of Metal today being Metalcore/Deathcore it seems, I doubt it'll happen anytime soon.

@mechajesus2000 Fair enough. I know what you mean, his voice has definitely changed over the years; going into the more "indistinguishable" vocals, considering his age and how long Glen's been growling. But yeah, to each their own =P

Also, surprisingly, a lot of their songs are quite easy to play on the guitar, of course not the solo's dont reply with a smartass remark ppl o-o im tired of those, but the rest of the guitar riffs are easy a poop

@Ninjuggla Ehh, like... 2 maybe 3 good songs... but i never liked their newer sounds... i liked the older stuff better, and i got bored with the consistance of the chorus words in Fuck Your God... i mean, the solo is pretty cool, but i dont like the way Glen sounds now, so far the best he's sounded live is at RRU but other than that for a newer thing, he just sounds kinda crappy :I but everybodys different
