Deerhunter - Monomania Lyrics
My only boy couldn't leave his lady well
Come on boy let me tell you that
If you wanna be with me
I can be your home away
If you can't send me an angel
If you can't send me an angel
Send me something else instead
Send my heart to the sea
Oh the empty sea
Well there's a light in the core
And there's nothing left no more
No more no
If you can't see
Well there's a light in my heart
And it' won't be there tomorrow
There is a man
There is a mystery whore
And in my dying days
I can never be sure
Well never mind
And then they take me away
And then they take you away
They'll never take me away
And in my mind
There is something rotting dead
I can't compete with her
Let me be released from this

Deerhunter Monomania Comments
"If you can't choose me
Then you can't see
There's a light in my heart
And it won't be there tomorrow"
straight in the fucking heart.
You can feel the sexual tension between the tambourine and the player. The moment I heard it, I was like "Oh yeah. I'm in."
This album is fuckin good
"Monomania is the greatest album I’ve ever made and anybody that doesn’t like it has no idea what I’m about or what I’m doing. They’re simply avid fans of what’s called indie rock [...]" Bradford Cox, Noisey, Jan. 19, 2019
badass song from Deerhunter's best album. Halcyon was great but to me this is more true.
perfect
I've listened to this album far too many times LOVE It more and more
i like cryptograms and monomania way more than halcyon which was not good at all
# scruffypuppy doesnt this sound very similar to 'Woman' by scruffy puppy check that one out!
Honestly this has become one of my favourite deerhunter albums, some days even more than halcyon digest. It's so pure in its intentions, and the songwriting, production, and even track arrangement (nitebike following this song feels so right) is so perfect. Don't compare it to halcyon, compare it to your own monomaniacal tendencies.
IF YOU CAN -- SEND ME AN ANGEL
THERE'S NOTHING LEFT NO MORE (NO MORE! NO MORE!)
SEND ME SOMETHING ELSE INSTEAD
THEN YOU CAN'T SEE
...........
THERE IS A MAAAAN
IF YOU CAN'T CHOOSE ME
1980s Tube TV with this stuck on repeat. That's where the money's at. That's where your eyeballs need to be.
CAPTAIN AHAB
super wow
I love how the video follows their trashy vibe in this album
sucio sonido garagero :)
Love, LOVE the end, Forever.
who would've loved to see Lou Reed do a collaborative effort with deerhunter? the ability to make great pop songs and some of the hardest feedback ridden rock I've ever heard.
The second part is so Sonic Youth...
insanity, keep listening until it gets in your veins,it is one of Deerhunter's finest albums.
i actually didnt like this album, it didn't have soul to it, im sticking with atlas sound unless they get mystical again.
sounds like smith westerns first album
this generation they don't know, they missed out. This generation, this generation, this generation.
sean This album came out a couple years ago
He wrote that comment 3 yrs ago man
The T. Rex-itude of this song (and album) is off the charts.
You and me both. At least he lives on in the spirit of music like this.
who the fuck asked you about anything u just fuckin said??? and nobody cares about your opinion
Deerhunter is pretty cool, I kinda like Atlas Sound more, but thats just me.
can I just be mark bolan for a while ? Thx.
it rocks
MOJO magazine article sent me here.
OK, look... I'm 54. I grew up as a kid during the best (and worst) music ever produced. The mid-60s to late-70s).
The only other "good era" was late-80s to early-90s... and no I will not use the G-word for that because as soon as it was labelled that... well, being here where it started... it was OVER !
First few minutes I did NOT like this song.... (judgemental)... but as it kept playing, I actually LISTENED.... and I gotta admit.
I like it.
Not bad
this album is reminiscent of early strokes. i like it.
Can't wait to see them live tomorrow evening!
Jajajajajajaajajajaja It's a good joke
What a disappointment Monomania
the worst album Deerhunter
reminds me of Animal Collective
bradford cox within an anagogic speaking frame (a dimension of consciousness you've likely limited yourself from) is directly imploring you to know monomania – fiery enthusiasm for self-expansion that allows you to integrate with the higher consciousness "bradford" speaks from. this is achieved through 'cutting' or 'grinding' the body via muscle contractions with all-consuming intensity (the chainsaws provide a clue to the sound and texture of such an experience). have fun!
The more I listen to it, the more I become used to the different vocal style. That was my only problem at first.
this comment bothers me because by your logic, we should just never criticize any music. and that's stupid.
Great reply, good talk.
Ouch I felt the heat from that burn!
great points.
It's true, we all do.
Should I remind you that musical taste is an opinion and that there is really no such thing as shitty music? If you can't relate to Deerhunters songs and don't enjoy them, dont fucking listen to them? haha Nobody cares about your opinion, It's really pretentious to say your taste in music is better than another persons, you just have a different taste. If you can't understand that then that says a lot about you Ms. Obrien.
this is amazing.like patti smith
Only the best of it Mr. Horton. And can someone remind me again of that little parable of the emperor having no clothes.
You must listen to a lot of it
this is really good. it reminds me of shitty music.
I like the direction that they are going in!
one of my favorite bands! favorite track on album is "punk"
check out my bands new video.
Lock 12 - The Edge
what is this noise? my god....
First entirely successful example of sarcasm I've ever seen on the internet.
so omegle brought me something cool for once
wtf are you talking about.. the ending is the best
shit go hard
Budget for music video: $1.
SEND MY HEART TO THE SEA
Really shitty worthless video for such a great album.
velvet underground/10
This is a great track from a great band, one who will be regarded in the future as one of the best of these years.
まさにゴーファック
Hand-lettered cassette tapes contained mixes from my soul I made for you while there was something rotten and dead in my head and you blurred into a crowd at a local punk show, leaving me with my pile of cassette tapes and a storm only the screaming distorted guitars could ever assuage. @poemculture
Menopausic White Stripes
I hate the ending.
Top notch noise rock. Love it.
not a good song by them
The good 'ol noisy Deerhunter have returned. Welcome back sirs.
My room mate walked by while I was watching this and he quickly glanced over and said "why does it keep flashing menopause?"
soooooooo boooooooooriiiiing
I was never into deerhunter music, I feel them like an cool bizarre band to carry on for the future, Monomania is now that future, pretty amazing record, Move on MVB here is my new favourite on this 2013
I can't hear what he's singing.
This new sound comes off as more derivative than their previous efforts. This band is still great and that guitar noise is very pleasing.
• Rest in Peace 4 A D
what the Fuck!? This is ....Amazing! did not expect anything this...punk
Don't be afraid of rock guys. Really, it's just guitars everyone has one nowadays. Sheesh.
actually i love both of this types of deerhunter, a very good example is spring hall convert
ew, they've made better songs. I honestly don't like it.
sound like the strokes !
Josh Fauvour is out. Two new blokes are in. I hope Bradfor Cox stays
I guess I'm a month late, but I was very excited to hear that there was a new deerhunter album. This is the first song that I have listened to and I had to comment. This song ripples with the texture of a calico cat. Each passage hums with the same rhythm but each patch is distinct. Brilliant intention with each rise and fall of the needle.
Welp, that sucked. I hope the rest of the album is good. It'll be hard to followup Halcyon Digest.
Monomania is the obsession with one thing and Bradford Cox's monomania is to have him and his band become iconic figures in rock music, that's incredible
yo who has the link where i can get the leak of the album???
so much treble. love it!
Huh, I can't beleive they didn't contact you first to make sure they were making the music that you specifically wanted them to make. All of my favoriet bands do that with me. All the time. They're like, "Hey dude, even though you're not in the band we care more about what you think than what we want to do as musicians. Got any ideas?" And I'm always just like, repeat the old stuff!!! I'm narrow!!! And they cater to me. Those are awesome bands...
yeah!!!!!!!my son!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are a fanatic...
Ruddy marvellous!
I smiled when I found out a new album was coming out. I rarely do that with any bands nowadays. Looking forward to it. This song was great. I have read some comments negatively comparing it to punk, garage, or The Strokes (by imitating them), but NOT AT ALL. It sounds like Cap'n Beefheart on acid trying to write a pretty melodic song. That was my first impression of course. I'd have to listen to it some more. Some Deerhunter songs tend to grow on you.
It's not in the genre punk no, but it is raw and shut up with your pretentious name dropping. Good job you listen to good bands, good job. I don't care what you listen to and I don't care that you don't like this. It's nothing like the Strokes, you must be going deaf. This is Deerhunter and if you actually had something to say other than it's boring then I might actually give a shit about your opinion but you don't have anything to say so yeah, if you don't like it then don't listen.
Really, is this punk?? o_O If I want to listen garage, I prefer MC5 (for example), If want to listen noise, then I prefer to listen, The Jesus and Mary Chain, or My Bloody Valentine or Sonic Youth or even Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. This is the most boring thing that Deerhunter has made ever, and yes, of course, it's like The Strokes.
really the strokes? Way off, you've clearly not been listening to any punk or garage rock of the past couple decades, which is a damn shame. I think a lot of people are going to be just as affronted by this album because of it's noise, these songs are different and that's what art is. If they want to progress and be different all I care that It sounds great, so I think all you ambient and avant fans need some gritty punk in your lives. Embrace the viceral feeling of darkness and noise, let loose
bradford the 90s werent about being "earnest"mudhoney and nirvana wore drag.the 80s was the earnest decade ....drab and drum programmed and synths and po faced it was..the stones roses etc were about sunshine...80s also goth decade=earnest....
Are they trying to imitate The Strokes??? What a pity Deerhunter... :s
Mind blowing tune! Itching to get my hands on the new album
