Deep Purple - Place In Line Lyrics
I'm living in this line
I know my place, could think of no way
Of edging along in a loser's race
The line was moving slowly
Everybody's shuffling on to keep a place in the line
Nine long years I've been in line
Getting nowhere there is no reason
For this line I don't care.
Everybody's standing in the burning sun
Everybody's shuffling on keeping a place in the line
Don't you think we're gonna make it
We've got a place in line
Somehow

Deep Purple Place In Line Comments
Bluesowe zacięcie Iana Gillana i spółki. Śmieszne.
Deep purple could do anything at one stage
deep purple this is legend
GREAT FOREVER !!!!!
Mark II & Mark III
awesome.
Deep Purple, Rainbow(Dio era), Scorpions(Uli Jon Roth era) e Black Sabbath(Dio era), the best!!!!!
Super Great !!!!
Gillan's tone on this is amazing, he could sing absolutely anything. He covers 4 octaves in this track!
One of Purples greatest unknown or appreciated tunes, every member of the band provides an extraordinary performance ..it does not get better than this
Deep Purple. Deep Blues, love this song...
Blues on Purple's Green Album!
Att. Juan Antonio González "Don Ramon".
I heard this song many times and i still love it,,,
Don’t you think we’re gonna make it
Good Lord, I recently re-discovered this tune and it's absolutely astounding to me how freaking good these guys were back in the day. I think I could fill a book with enough solid evidence and reasoned conjecture to make the case that this so-called "Mark II" version of Deep Purple is, without question, the greatest band in rock history.
From their incredible individual raw talent, range, and virtuosity to their collective tightness, musicality, innovation, and improvisation in their live performances, (which were simply off-the-chart amazing) I don't think anyone else really comes close to their overall prowess.
Deep Purple had a truly wonderful year, for early in 1973 they produced this album under MII and 6 months later in late 1973 they recorded Burn.
A band that evolved but played like motherfuckers
Great song from a great band..sad that never play "place in line" live
One of the most masterly executed, virtuosly played composition of Deep Purple, what obviously demonstrates the great advantage of Deep Purple against any another group!
There are no words to adequately describe Jon Lord's greatness.
Best track on the album! :)
Som perfeito
i learned every lead from blackmore and page ...they were my heroes in the 70's...
blues rock at its finest an the masters of all musick..ritchie an deep purple
esto es un pedazo de blues. acojonante
Spark up and pass the bone around mmmm
Ritchie Blackmore took out that solo of topper his 🤘🤘🤘👊👊👊.
,,,, little gem !!!
Jhon Lord o melhor tecladista, organista e pianista
Que con esta rola me velen.
Purple had another Memphis Sound song. Lazy is a Memphis Sound song. Memphis was the cutting edge of Rock Blues Fusion. Ritchie played for Jerry Lee Lewis on his European Tour. Jerry tried to talk Ritchie into coming back home to Memphis with him. Ritchie said he didn't do it because he was just 18. So Ritchie has some roots with that Sound.
Kurt Sherrick Jerry had a habit of hitting people that’s why Ritchie declined
@Graham Jeffries We know Jerry had two wives that died strangely. And he was a aggressive young man but that goes for most young men. Jerry did have a strong Church upbringing but he went his own way.
I think about this song when I am in a line moving slowly down the line for 45 years. Purple never had a song I would call a filler. Great songs one after the other album after album.
mk 2 - the best one!
I think This bluesy song style (just like maybe I'm a Leo) would have sounded better with Coverdale in vocals
The best band in the world!!Pure fun!!Another beer please!
What an EPIC!!, from a monster album that most overlooked entirely in 1973. These guy's were barely speaking to each other in the studio. Horrible working conditions, yet a masterpiece was moulded here. This would be the swan song for Gillan, and Glover, until their eventual return 11 years later.
An interesting story, another song on this album Smooth Dancer. Ian wrote it about Blackmore as this was obviously the hight of the fued. If you listen to the lyrics and think about Blackmore you can see it. However, ritchie didn't know the song was about him until much later. Due to this, after Gillan was fired in 1989. The band got Joe Lynn Turner as a vocalist and then he and Ritchie wrote the song King of Dreams about Ian Gillan. Listen to Smooth Dancer's lyrics and apply it to Blackmore, then listen to King of Dreams and apply it to Gillan. It's tremendous
Even under extreme circumstances during the recording of this album Mark2 is still the greatest group of pure rock musicians of all-time.
Mi solo preferido del genio Blackmore
Great track! Gillan hits it here.
Still love Gillans voice here ! Sounds funny drunk !
Ritchie and Jon performed great solo parts in this song!
Deep Purple Line Up: Blackmore,Gillan, Glover, Paice And Lord👏👏👏
Purple Blues Super.
István Pataki Yeahh!!
when Ritchie plays a blues solo, nothing better
Blackmore leaves pretty much everyone for dead as a blues-rock player and Lord had no opposition to speak of as a keyboardist.
I Love Deep Purple!
They love you too.
You no one!
One of my all time favorite blues songs!! Ritchie Blackmore is an amazing guitarist, Jon Lord is in my opinion the best rock keyboardist ever, Ian Paice is a solid drummer, Roger Glover is a great bassist and Ian Gillan is the absolute best screamer ever!! Love this entire album!!!
Gillan was/is a beautiful male specimen & he can sing like a gift from the stars. Deep Purple were put here to tell kids like me with effort, people would stand up & notice you. All these years later. I'm so grateful for making me the guitarist I turned out to be.
the keyboards are so great on this. Jon Lord is phenomenal
and so is Richie Blackmore
Tom Brady And so is Paice!
Who do we think we are is a very underrated album and unfortunately Gillan and Glover left Purple shortly after its release so there was no tour to promote it, then Coverdale and Hughes joined Purple and they recorded Burn.
"Who Do We Think We Are" is less highly regarded that other Deep Purple albums, but it's worthwhile for this song alone.
Awesome.
Beyond classic!
This album has the almost the same sound to my ears as Stormbringer ... Ritchie hated the both, BUT he sounds and plays amazing on both :-)
yep. it's so strange! playing the fucking killer solos and hate the songs at the same time. Ritchie must be real nuts.
Blackmore wanted to run the show, which is one reason for leaving Purple and founding Rainbow,in other words he wanted a band that he could call his own and there was even turmoil in Rainbow with several line up changes throughout its history he even recruited former Purple bassist Roger Glover of whom he had asked to leave Purple in 1973 to join the band,so Richie is a great guitarist but very set in his ways and for some reason cant get along with front men,in fact him and Coverdale actually got in to a fight back stage at a Rainbow concert.
I guess it would be odd to describe Ian's voice in this song as a blend of Glenn Danzig and Bob Dylan. Give me shit for it but that's what I hear
Micah Vitko You're entitled to think what you want,as is any other man.
The best Blues-Rock song I`ve ever heard in my life:)
As good as this is, I have to give the nod to Lazy - every note sheer perfection.
Amazing that this simple song by DP standards has 4 change of tempos/rhythm within it. Can never get bored of this band.
Just playing this lp on vinyl now through my new very high end speakers and it sounds AMAZING ! What an incredible change of paice on this tune (pun intended) . This is definitely one of my new favorite Purple records, after just listening to Rat Bat Blue, Woman from Japan, Super Trooper and Smooth Dancer all amazing tunes, and now hearing Our Lady, great ending song as well ! I was checking out this record on Rateyourmusic and hardly anyone talked about this song so I had to come here and say something since this is one of the best tunes on it for sure !
Bluesy kind of tune from Deep Purple...from a much under rated album!
That voice! ~sigh~
WOW what a time to be alive, This album and In Rock kept me awake many nights
sweet lord it really caresses my ears for good
Ritchie at his best!
He had to do something here.... everything else was weak on his part, knowing his talent the way we do... Lord and Paice shine bright on the lp.
Ami me parese buenisimo
Pre-David Coverdale Deep Purple's best song! At least for me, since I'm a bluesman, first and foremost.
+oker59 David Coverdale??
Ian Gillan..doesn't sound like him but it is.
Clive Bindley David Coverdale is the man for this song. No doubt about that.
What "perfection"" listen to Ian Paice""
+nick moore Oh Yes!!
Ian Paice doesn't get the recognition he deserves, in my opinion. He was phenomenal.
@Graham Eglinton The best for me.
Just keep on rockin, rockin, rockin , ahhhhhh !!!!
Gillan je moj idol rok pjevača
This is one of my absolut favorit vinyls! I bought it very proudly as soon as possible when it came out. Still today the hair on my back stands up of joy when I hear it :-)
Ian' s voice, is so fucking hot!
One of my favorites !!!
vaamooos ese blueesss carajoo
i hate you tube they always interrupt songs with pauses or whatever they do.
Adblock plus
Don't forget about Ian Pace. Bad ass drummer !
Anyway don't forget his name Paice !! Love and peace !!
HOLY SHIT !
Deep Purple's blues just have that different style than the typical blues sound it has that extra rock n roll blues feel to it than others. Songs like Maybe I'm a Leo,Sail Away, Place In line,Mistreated ,Lazy. They all have that blues feel but it's Deep Purple Style!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you know what i mean?
Yes especially Lazy.
No No No is another Purple blues.
YESSS!! I know what you mean exactly :)
It's all an extension of the genre Mark2 created with the monumental "In Rock" album. A genre of which only they ever played. These five were simply incomparable.
Bach playing blues :)
"There is no reason, for this line....♪♫•*¨*•.ღ"
simply love this song...
Blackmore in head of his time, i think.
This is beyond beliefe,!1
I love mr. Blackmore.!!!!!
Even jeff beck, has to bow.!!!!!
+gert selmer jensen
close call but yes he does
One of their best tunes. Spent a LOT of hours listening to these guys growing up.
@NEntv58 i hear you...my brother turned me on to Deep Purple 1972
i grew up listening to my bro jam on his drum kit. Ian Paice was his idle.probably still is....i am 54 and still love my Deep Purple...Made in Japan is one of my favorite releases ever!!!! Rock On Bro!!!!
awesome track off the 7th deep purple album, soild blues track track 6 off their 7th album. but gillian just sounds like he don't want to be there.
I saw the "Machine Head" performed in Tampa Stadium in Tampa, FL. USA in 1973 as a16 yr old kid. My tickets was 8.00$ US !!!
Lucky guy! One of the best rock bands of all time.
