Funny thing Ritchie wasn't into house if blue light ,I lived it had that deep purple speed rock and some blues flair....no tour though...

Been thinking I need to learn guitar to do some Deep Purple covers probably think key boards mite be a better idea I live Lord's,my dad is pretty amazing and can just jam along with Lords like its nothing I can't find a keyboard player or a band and my old man plays better than anyone I've ever heard,he 86 I don't think I could get him into a rock band anyways....hah ha life...

Listening to the album again after a long long time, I must say that it is an absolutely underrated jewel in the DP catalogue!

Who was trying to find Amanda’s “bad attitude” but this was everything that came up?

No offence, but the death of Jon Lord cut at least one of the legs of Deep Purple.

This song would have deserved more attention in their live set. I think it's the very first album opener that didn't have a significant impact on their live show. It's a pity though because in retrospect I don't think that there's something wrong with it. It got all the heaviness Purple strived for and also a nice bridge as well as guitar solo.

Roger Glover explained to Metal Hammer in 1988, "'Bad Attitude' is probably the hardest song for us to do live for some reason. Again I think it's better live than the studio version and it's a song that really does suffer from translation from the studio to stage."

Its just a shame this line up couldn't continue on throughout the nineteen seventies and tour to promote Who Do We Think We Are which is a very underrated album.

I actually liked The House of Blue Light. It was the very first Deep Purple album I ever bought on CD (I got the original 1987 release, not the 1999 remaster, which butchered the songs terribly). Bad Attitude, The Unwritten Law, Call of the Wild, The Spanish Archer, Strangeways, and Dead Or Alive were my favorites on that album.
