wait wait since when did the mariner's father keep captives before becoming a pirate

I've always wondered at the lines "i have snipped your wingspan" and "here all clipped of kickstand," which sound like he cut her hands/feet or maybe arms/legs off. So William would arrive to find her utterly ruined and raped ("limber limbs akimbo" etc), which he may have anticipated when he agreed to face his own death on the return across the river, choosing to die to see her one last time rather than live knowing she was horribly mutilated. I suppose I could see shying away from all that in an animation. But the Rake is dead by his ghost children's hands long before William makes it to the fortress, right?

I interpreted those lines as simply meaning that she was kept captive, like how when a bird is made a pet, its wings are clipped to stop it from flying away. It also fits in with the fact he calls her a captive swan, drawing more bird parallels.

I can't help thinking something more ghastly is implied. Particularly "till i have wrest and wrecked you:"

Behind these fortress walls.

It bothers me that you gave the fawn a name. He doesn't have one in the story. Also, he is a fawn forever and never a buck. That symbolizes the Queen's procession of him and her unwillingness to let him grow and leave. The World of Men means civilization opposed to nature AS WELL AS the love between a man and a woman (not his mother).

Otherwise, very well done.

The riff is more or less the first half of the "Wanted dead or alive" riff.

I'm so disappointed. This is a rip off. The beginning guitar bit is a total rip off. But thats the only time i can say that. They still are a fucking brilliant band. I;m not just talking about Meloy, the whole bands are stunning musicans aswell. In saying all that, i'm not a huge fan of the last two albums. Sounds not as well thought out as other albums. Must give the new one another listen. i didn't give it its fair chance.

The intro makes you think of Wanted Dead Or Alive by Bon Jovi. I think it's similar, but the notes are a bit different.

Reminds of the art on the Wildwood cover, which is cool.

It is sounds similar to "Dead or Alive" it trust me the written music is not even close. Also if you have ever listened to a Decemberists album you'll know how harsh that statement is.

Yeah, it does sound a little like bon jovi. But if they were gonna pick a song to do something similar to, why not do it? The beginning is my favorite part of both songs. GO DECEMBERISTS!!! and that was a pretty nifty video, too.

Anyone else see how this song is obviously a copy of "wanted dead or alive" by bon jovi. Are the Decemberists so untalented that they have to completely copy music?

I've never listened to all the songs in "The Hazards of Love" before so I wouldn't know, but is this before or after the rake kills his 3 children? Was this the mother?

Very nice, love your animation style. Though Margaret is supposed to be heavily pregnant, I guess some artistic license is fine. I like the way the light is showing through the Rake's shirt, nice detailing there :)

@opdrewman91 There was artwork that went with the CD, it features drawings of the four main characters, and labels the man "William"
