Deborah Cox - Absolutely Not Lyrics

Always waitin' for someone
To make me happy, pick me up
I realize that someone is me
What you call life, that ain't livin'
Bless the child that's got his own
It's my season, now I stand alone
Just thought that I would let you know
Some things you just can't control

[Chorus:]
Should I wear my hair in a ponytail?
Should I dress myself up in chanel?
Do I measure me by what you think?
Absolutely not, absolutely not
If I go to work in a mini-skirt
Am I givin' you the right to flirt?
I won't compromise my point of view
Absolutely not, absolutely not

Told myself I won't complain
But some things have got to change
Not gon' be a victim of
All your social push and shove
Right or wrong, you judge the same
My picture never fit your frame
What you thought, you'll never know
You can't see me with your mind closed

[Repeat Chorus]

Now I see, life means more to me
More than fancy clothes
More than you'll ever know
All the ugly words that I heard you say
Made me stronger everyday
Now I live my life for me

[Repeat Chorus 3x]

Oh, ooh
Woah, oh, ooh
All my ladies say
Oh, ooh
Woah, oh, ooh
Absolutely not, absolutely not
All my ladies say
Oh, ooh
Woah, oh, ooh
All my ladies say
Absolutely not, absolutely not

This that song back in the day when the experienced dancers could buck the house down and it was just the right tempo for us newbies to show off the moves we practiced at home. LOL boy oh boy the early 2000s.

OMG!! Whirl me right out on the dancefloor: Backstreet Atlanta, The Heretic, The Cove & The Armory!! God, I had so much fun! Those were the days when Dance Clubs were REAL dance empiricism that played REAL dance anthems and the floors were always packed!! I miss it so very much!!! Thanks for the memories!!

  28. J.... F....

Fantastic dance track! I love it!

  29. K.... ....

I’m gay but I can’t stand this music for than 20 minutes. I don’t understand why gay people are so obsessed with this genre.

  30. A.... B....

    Yes. Look. Good

  31. C.... G....

Good grief, this song was DA S**T back in the day. Talk about songs that want to make you run out to the dance floor in an instant. Was lucky enough that this was part of my generation's dance club era.

  42. s.... L....

Awesome remix...those were the days when the clubs were HOT and the people hotter! This song spun and the house went nuts! "I won't compromise my point of view!" ABSOLUTELY NOT!

    s.... L....

Sad that the lyrics of this song (and many others) seem even more relevant now.

  43. D.... P....

Kids....THIS SONG would fill the dance floor in 5 seconds!!!! Glad I lived IT! #90's!

    D.... P....

Drake Patton These kids have no idea Drake.... Absolutely NOT!

    D.... P....

Me too, and they played this music everywhere. It was fun for like 2 seconds. Do they know they played this at straight clubs? They played this everywhere.

    D.... P....

    Truth!!

  44. J.... L....

The days when dance songs were dance songs!
Deborah Cox, Kim English, Corona, Toni Braxton; not to mention, of course, Whitney, Destiny’s Child, Cher...

  45. T.... R....

The 1980's had lots of hardcore talent in the rock and dance category. The very late 1990's and early to mid 2000's had massive hardcore dance music talent both the artists and the rising DJ's. Clubs were bursting out the doors and people didnt leave the dance floor all night long. Today clubs are closing left and right and the ones that are still open cannot fill their floors. The music is the reason. Sorry but you can remix Bieber all you want it still wont come close to artist like Deborah and Tamia.

  46. R.... M....

My favorite club jam!! Love Deborah Cox. She is one of my favorites.. A must listen to..Highly recommend.

  47. m.... c....

This song reminds me of when I meant my wife. She loved this song when it came out. And would play and sing it constantly on our dates. Now when I hear it it takes me back to one of the most wonderful times in my life. When I meant the woman of my dreams and the mother of my children. The holds a very special place in my heart. And makes me smile when I hear it. And no she was not directing it towards me when singing it. Lol

  48. D.... G....

Esta música me transporta a mis años dorados de juventud adolescente.

  49. D.... T....

First time ever heard this was Copa, Fort Lauderdale... Had no idea who it was. Just fell in love

  54. m.... ....

Those were the days, tearing up the dance floor at gay clubs to this song.

  55. S.... H....

No good gay clubs like what used to be in late 90s and early 2000 plus the music was so much better then

    S.... H....

Shelli Hey music in gay clubs used to suck then and it sucks now. Always music with more than 120 bpm. Boring!
