The more I listen,the more clear the meaning( Interpretation). Love This song Forever! Been listening throughout the years. My Mom passed not too long ago. Now when I hear this- I laugh and cry at the same time. She would say " That Boy can sing"- The same thing she would say about Tevin Campbell. Great memories from my younger years. I can clearly picture myself going on a Celebrity dream date with Janina Gavankar, driving her around town in my Lexus, with this song playing in my CD player!

I just had a dream I was walking by a swimming pool talking to this woman and she told me to stop looking so mean and smile more and to teach the young adults. I noticed I was carrying a jar of green olives and this song was playing in the background.

We didn't have BET in the house, so, I'm seeing this one for the first time now. It's interesting to find out that other men besides myself listened to El as a solo artist back then. I'd always figured he was too feminine for the dudes I knew back then, so, he was like a secret favourite of mine as an '80's teen. George Michael/Wham!, and pre-'90's Prince, too.

Love this song too! I remember buying an El DeBarge record back in 1996. (10 years after this song came out.) I played it a lot. I even found a CD of the same record back in 1998.

Pat P Yeah, I didn't care for it after the first few listens.  At first it had a certain cuteness to it, but after a while it just got plain ANNOYING!  (Didn't help that Top 40 stations played it every 5 minutes when it was a hit).
