Death Cab For Cutie - Passenger Seat Lyrics
I roll the window down
And then begin to breathe in
The darkest country road
And the strong scent of evergreen
From the passenger seat as you are driving me home.
Then looking upwards
I strain my eyes and try
To tell the difference between shooting stars and satellites
From the passenger seat as you are driving me home.
"do they collide?"
I ask and you smile.
With my feet on the dash
The world doesn't matter.
When you need directions then i'll be the guide
For all time.
For all time.

Death Cab For Cutie Passenger Seat Comments
Ben Gibbard is one of the best lyricists I've ever heard personally and I've heard alot. His word play is amazing and is just so poetic. Not many lyricist I know that can compete with him. His lyricism rivals that of a Bob Dylan's for sure, such an underrated talent it's a shame. Transatlanticism is such an amazing album, this and so many others are gems on this album.
I so love this band at the moment, it's like someone putting their hand on my shoulder, we'll get through this. Dealing with my father in laws cancer is difficult, but this band is helping me through it, writing beautiful songs like this one. Thank you DCFC.
Only someone like Ben Gibbard can take a 10 second moment in time and turn it into a 3:41 long journey.
The day my brother passed away, I got the news while driving. I felt like something was wrong in the world, like something fell out of place. On my way to work I kept feeling this strange feeling like I forgot something. I got a call as I was pulling into work, they told me you were ok and you would be alright. I rushed home as fast as I can but half way down the road I felt a loss of breath I felt my brothers last breath as if a piece was taken from me, as if I gained a piece of him. This song came on, and I felt him in my passenger seat. I will forever enjoy this work of art, Thank you Death cab for cutie. May you Rest in peace Obryan! May justice be served!
i spent the best summers of my life riding in the passenger seat of the most amazing woman i ever met and talking about life. looking at the stars with nothing above us in her shitty convertible lebaron. i even knew it back then that those were the best times of my life. told her that over and over again. she died in 2008 driving that car. i cant listen to this song without crying but i keep doing it anyway to always hold that memory. i feel for your loss. the pain is universal. i miss you Nikki.
ELS : still remember 😐

Life is short
But I want to spend my life by hearing those beautiful songs
Music for the soul.
I'm watching s3 of the handmaids tale and this beautiful song starts playing! I was so excited. One of my favourite albums.
I want a edit of this song with rain
May I suggest Rainymood?
“I’ll be your guide” but no one is guiding me in life that line gets me so sad and all I feel is sadness but his voice on that line is so amazing
Jesus will guide you. "Cast all your axiety on him, for he cares for you." 1 Peter 5:7.
Jeremy Rearick thank you for that that makes me feel better
Google Plays’s Indie Sleep Playlist brought me here. I swear, it took a while for me to find out what this song was because it’s always put me right to sleep before I could realize how nice it was and look at the song title and artist.
So at first I thought this song was weird but now I think it is gorgeous. That piano, the vocals, the deep and melancholy lyrics… Truly why people are fans of this band. I don’t care if I’m a hipster.… LOL

The More I listen To his songs the More I feel like he was a cityboy Who had a romance with a countrygirl. I had such romance and these songs cut close To the bone for me. Songs such as this, summer skin, we looked like giants and many other songs are amazingly similiar of what i experienced in the summer of 2013
We left our love in our summer skin
Always wished that this was the last song on the album
Even as the tears flow down my face I cant help, but feel free when listening to this..
It makes me think of being in my grand parents car as a kid feeling safe and loved.
2018...
Thank you for this song
2:32 to 2:50 is like perfection
Californication brought me here

Wow, I like this song more than "Transatlanticism". I never thought another Death Cab for Cutie song could touch me as strongly.
A band hasn't touched me this hard in a long time. Their music and lyrics are so comforting
