Death Cab For Cutie - El Dorado Lyrics
Seems you finally found, finally found El Dorado
Over in Culver City, shining bright, name in lights
And I tried to be kind for you
Oh I'm trying to be kind for you
It's kinda like a party that you never wanted to attend
But when an invitation finally arrives you change your mind
And I tried to be kind for you
Oh I'm trying to be kind for you
As you slip away behind the gates
Behind the gates
Seems you finally found, finally found El Dorado
So why does it feel underwhelming there be real
And I tried to be kind for you
Oh I'm trying to be kind for you
As you slip away behind the gates
Behind the gates
El Dorado
El Dorado
El Dorado
El Dorado

Death Cab For Cutie El Dorado Comments
This song is more like the Death Cab I love
I hear this song and imagine myself as a cowboy speedily riding horseback through the desert in search of.....something.
underrated as hell, deserves way more attention
Sounds so much like Helio Sequence in this track, can anyone agree???
No, that was nothing.
yo sis is that you?
i literally skate through culver city blastin this song! Death Cab is definitely one of my top 3 goto bands
Wunderschön!
Been a fan for four years, and I'm hoping that I'll be able to make the concert in Houston on the 13th, but with highschool I don't know if I'll have time. Hoping! I'd love to see y'all live.
Did you make it?
Unfortunately not :/
This has a very "Don't Fear the Reaper" feel.
kinda, yeap
So underrated
Best track off Kintsugi. That drumbeat though!! Jason McGerr bringing it hard.
I think so too (best song ever)! Little wanderer is really good too
Dragontooth150 No Way, this song is so much better than Little Wanderer!
Just discovered this band from Ghosts of Beverly Drive. Amazing music.
mai gosh... cant believe that
Gabe Cohen Check out their album Transatlanticism
Why do I get a Modern vampires of the city vibe from this. Why?
I try to be kind for you..
it's actually 'hyped' :)
+TheMasquerade6 Really? AZLyrics says "kind"..
Yeah, there are different interpretations, but it's supposed to be 'hyped'. Check other sites and they might show you :)
The basic idea is that the speaker is trying to be 'hyped' for his loved one over her success.
Yep, the CD booklet says "hyped".
Came here because of Song Exploder!
Same here.
About Ben's lack of enthusiasm for Zooey Deschanel getting the role on New Girl.
The intro is just so epic.. Can't get enough of that guitar
Hell yeah!
+Isaiah Stonehouse Yeah, the first 30 seconds of the song are freakin amazing!
+Ricardo Marques agreed !!
So good, Death Cab...so extremely good.
I really love this song!!!!!!!!
My favorite track! Blast it in the car every time!
They have surpassed Transatlanticism. Never thought that was possible.
dean b Really?? Transatlanticism blows Kintsugi out of the water imo. Something About Airplanes might even top this one. It's mostly full of generic pop songs. Doesn't take any risks.
@seymour engelbert says you.
Ricardo Santos Marques imo = in my opinion 🙂 There's nothing wrong with liking one more than the other, but I can't see how anyone could argue that Kintsugi has more artistic integrity than Transatlanticism. Transatlanticism is innovative and thoughtful. Kintsugi is mostly bland and boring. It doesn't see the band taking risks and getting out of their comfort zone, evolving. It sounds like they tried to write an album full of radio-friendly songs, which is totally fine, but disappointing nevertheless.
I stromgly disagree...
seymour engelbert What was your opinion on We have the facts?
fucking genius
I want to dance and cry all at the same time while listening to this.

It's actually:
"And I'm trying to be hyped for you
Oh I'm trying to be hyped for you"
I have the lyric booklet. Just wanted to let you know :)
Trying to be *Hyped* for you
My favourite track from the album. Beautiful.
Mine too
Same here
Cam Procter Same. Really disappointed with the rest of the album.
Yeah, this song has more of that classic, lush, emotional Death Cab feel. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for most of the rest of the album, which for me is kinda boring. They redeemed themselves with "Thank You For Today" though!
This song makes me dance everytime I hear it... and I really hate dancing. I fucking love Kintsugi.
