Dear Hunter, The - The Pimp & The Priest Lyrics
(Take me to the river)
The pimp and the priest pounce on quickened cat's feet
For the freshest young blood, innocence for the feast.
The book will then brew what the sinful commit;
Confess, oh, confess,
In the chapel, the brothel, where we suffocate stress.
We've got the time if you've got the scratch
(Conquer your sins while she screams on her back).
Faster, save me!
(While your sins remain hostage)
Harder, I can't breathe!
With an enigmatic frontage post we welcome walk-ins.
So we corner our pace and make quick for the door,
To be prodded and passed from the bed to the floor.
Confess, oh, confess,
In the chapel, the brothel, where we suffocate stress.
We've got the time if you've got the scratch
(Conquer your sins while she screams on her back).
Take me to the river
Take me to the river
Faster, save me!
(Sins remain hostage)
Harder, I can't breathe!
Sing softly, sing me to the lake.
Sing softly, bring me to the lake.
Faster, save me!
(I've since remained hostage)
Harder, I can't breathe!
Sing softly, sing me to the lake.
Sing softly, bring me to the lake.

I think you're all confused. The lead singer is from The Receiving End Of Sirens, which was A GOOD band, not PatD!, which is a shitty, shitty band.
As a Christian in America horrified by #TrumpagelicalNation, this song seems doubly prescient. I don't know the band much at all.... nor do I know their theological frame (if any). But this song could be an anthem for what is going down right now in the USA. Franklin Graham, anyone?!
Revisiting music I used to listen to in high school:’) love this shit
This band should be turned into a Broadway musical.
This song always gets the fucking best out of me, I love it endlessly!
i love panic at the disco but these two bands are honestly nothing alike?? they're both amazing but in their own way lol
The Intro to this song is used at the end of The Bitter Suite IV and V, I don't know if anyone cares I just think its amazing personally.
rjstanley89 También está en la mitad de Mr. Usher, justo después de que las mujeres canten.
Omg! You're right thats incredible!! hahaha i love this band!
Can I just say I think the Pimp and the priest is a pretty freaking cool antagonist? Almost every song he is mentioned in is just perfect and sound just as twisted to give him that vibe like he's the ringmaster of a circus, considering the way he works and his general role in the story I wouldn't be surprised if that's intentional even. He's got a lotta character to him, more so than a lotta other people in the story.
He's so cartoony and i fucking love it
I love this jam..idk if tdh gets enough cred but I see alot of ppl hate on them..wish they wouldn't...im pretty sure Casey was or is in sleeping with sirens and idk what band came first
+Lisa Dixon Sleeping With Sirens? Apologize.
APOLOGIZE.
I agree that an apology is required. smh
I agree that an apology is required. smh
I agree that an apology is required. smh
Sleeping with sirens lmao
This is definitely one of their best songs. Anyone else getting a Harvest Moon 64 - Winter Theme vibe from this??
The ending is very Badly Drawn Boy!
They should have used this music for the theme to Boardwalk Empire if they wanted to go more contemporary. What they ended up using did NOT fit the show. This would have nailed it.
I like patd but let's be honest here, there are huge differences between these bands. The Dear Hunter is way more musically intricate and tends to have more intelligent lyrics with deeper meaning. Although patd does sometimes have clever lyrics in their songs, usually their music is meant to be more upbeat and catchy. Overall I think The Dear Hunter is way more musically talented but I will admit that Brendon Urie has a godlike voice that melts me to the core.
Maybe the dear hunter and p!atd
These gods kinda sound like Panic at the Disco
You know, I think The Dear Hunter could do a killer cover of Nine in the Afternoon.
panic at the disco r a bunch of emo/hot topic wannabies
@SkylerZak I don't care. :D
Stop please
Be assured that I will take this tune with me to New Orleans
The first couple of times I heard this song, I didn't really catch all the lyrics and just thought it was an overall pretty good song. Well I looked up the lyrics today. This song is freaking awesome.
Unless you use it as a superlative. Say yay to the gay!
This song reminds me of shadows of the damned
He wasn't describing the quality of Panic at the disco's music, he was describing the band itself, which includes stage quirks, fashion repertoir, attitudes and in general every physical expression of the members as an artistic agrupation. Any of the above can be listed as homosexual.
Why would they like to be like Muse?
I'm getting that vibe too
It reminds me of Stolen Babies and Muse.
Their like a darker panic! at the disco
I agree dude, both bands are great!!
Glad to create a smile (:
I don't totally agree, but your comment made me laugh :)
Yes, they sound similar to PatD... because they both incorporate the same tone of instrumentalist in their scores. However, The Dear Hunter has more Talent coming from their ass than Panic! could ever hope to spit out.
Blackceller
I thought the same thing! They sound really good and they sound like "A fever you just can't sweat out". I love Panic! at the Disco and I love the Dear Hunter
eargasm...that is all
This was the first song from The Dear Hunter i heard... i still love it.
@tiensymcnguyen69 The only reason they compare Dear Hunter to PATD is because they also use trumpets to get that gothic carnival sound...
@Malanaks The cake is a lie.
This song is not.
@tawiee i don't get why i keep seeing people comparing Panic at the Disco to other Dear Hunter songs as well.
You can't compare the musical caliber of Dear Hunter to that terrible band.
i swear, i get chills every time i hear this
0 dislikes, anyone?
How dare anyone compare these gods to Panic at the Disco..
Gods. Seriously.
this song and cake
omg
heaven
their like a darker panic at the disco
Seen these guys live a few times and at everyone they put on a great show. the singers voice is amazing both live and on the cd. love this band.
@Vicron Damn, I Don't Remember Asking This. Bahhaa.
where can i find the lyrics?
I adore his voice. It's so simple and it's like the song just falls right out of him. Amazing♥
This song makes my heart want to explode.
lol song named the pimp and the priest....... lol
amazing
hmm..........
interesting song.
(x
I love this song, thank you so much for having this song up here.
I haven't heard this in years.
My tastes have changed drastically but this still has something that attracts me. Not sure if I like it as much as I used to though.
