Dear Hunter, The - The Most Cursed Of Hands / Who Am I Lyrics
The Devil went down to the river (river, river)
And He came to fall; to lose it all
To fool the fool too quick to call
While the gambler's stacks grew bigger (bigger, bigger)
Too tempted by his wry desires
Damned across fated paths
The time to fold had come to pass
With the gambler's glory delivered (delivered, delivered)
He had thirst for more; a bigger score
A trophy no one could ignore
And the devil's wealth had withered (withered, withered)
His soul; the wager had been cast
The gambler called, the river fell
And now the hand from out of hell
The Devil smiled, looked in his eyes
He knew the loss was glorified
The Devil said, "Revel in your victory;
You've earned your damning
Pack your things and leave"
But the gambler only stood and stuttered
Stammering on words of disbelief
"Now you've won a new vocation.
Pray to me that you can stand the heat."
And that, the gambler saw,
Meant he had gone and finally set the devil free
Damned across fated paths
The hand he played would be his last
Who am I? Who am I?
Just a gambler, holding aces in the Devil's eyes
What is wrong? What's the sin?
Where's the answer? Where the hell do I fit in?
Or could it be, there's just a little demon lost in the debris
And I, should idly bide my time, until a wager releases me?
It can't remain unknown

Dear Hunter, The The Most Cursed Of Hands / Who Am I Comments
For some reason I hadn't followed Act V at all and I gotta say this is the best song in all of the acts. The buildup to the riffs of "He Said He Had a Story" was beautiful and chilling. It seriously layers the story on both the Father and the Boy.
That malevolent crescendo at 4:23 uses the same electric guitar riff from "He Said He Had a Story" on Act III. Fucking awesome
It’s been stuck in my head all day. My husband plays this song and I love it. 🖤🖤🖤 ladies marry a guitarist.
You need to be animating these awesome album covers and using it for videos in these songs. I can picture it now a whole album of yours telling a story and it all starts at the beginning of your album cover to visually story tell a journey.
Fuck me, this is amazing.
The Most Cursed of Hands > Who Am I all the way.
The Dear Hunter proved in this album, and the one that followed it, that there is some kind of strange spirituality in music, the best part is that they aren't a 70s band! every person with a soul should buy those two albums, and I don't know the names of the members of the band
If you're going to recommend their albums at least recommend all of the Acts, dude... They follow a story, you know?
This band is like the spill canvas on crack
This is like Mumford and Sons... But much better. Casey is one of the most creative songwriters out there. I love this song so much.
Can anyone recommend an album for this band ??
Well, if you liked this I would highly recommend the rest of the bands songs/albums. Their first five albums are all one big story told through "Acts" like a play so I would start from "Act 1- The Lake South, The River North" to the end as well as their other albums (Your choice though. Most would argue that their songs get better and better through the Acts so you can really just jump in wherever). My personal favorite is their Color Spectrum collection, though, which is a different mood/emotion with each color.
P.S.- Sorry for the huge paragraph. I just really like introducing people to The Dear Hunter.
All of them, definitely all of them
All Is As All Should Be definitely has a few gems.
Thank youuuu Brandon for introducing me to them 😍
First song of this band I listen to. Wow.
lucky man !
My Best song
And please share your social media so i can talk to you
Who am I !! so magic !!
best song of the year. progressive music has gotten so generic it shouldn't literally be called 'progressive' anymore. this is the direction i want music to go.
I agree. Ever since Dream Theater's success, there have been a lot of bands that tried to replicate that sound. Which, in turn, caused a massive overflow of artists, all with very similar music.
@Angharid Reed Check out Karnivool. I'd say they are rather unique "new" prog.
They are amazing live👍👍👍
Best song on the album. And that's saying something.
