Dear Hunter, The - The Bitter Suite I & II: Meeting Ms. Leading/Through The Dime Lyrics

She had the summer's smile with winter's skin; she moved
A silhouette to serenade the soul
She spoke with words beyond me and slowly I pulled away
To receive a gesture implying an answer I didn't have
So I then smiled
Responding, alarming
"Yes"

Her hands were the first that I'd ever felt; she breathed
Her lips hid her tongue from the world; she danced
To the doors, endearing, she carried me
"What's your name?" conceding "Ms. Leading"
She kindly suggests
To her room
To rest my head
So I responded, unalarming

Where's her heart, where's her heart?
Mimicking the matriarch
He's naive; blissfully
Ignorant and trusting but now

Where's her heart, where's her heart?
Mimicking the matriarch
He's naive; blissfully
Ignorant and trusting but now

(Step right in!) Let her hips guide your desire
Hey, kid, get a job
Hey, kid, get a job
(They have ways!) To satisfy, satisfy what you require
Touch, taste, feel
Two times, the dime
But the perks are more than price and the guarantee is clean
(We know what the men all want) And they know it isn't free

Her history is left behind
The ignorance has room to breathe
They play a part and act a scene
The prejudice and the guilty

(Take a chair!) You're not alone, the beds your home tonight
Hey, kid, get a job
Hey, kid, get a job
(Wait right there!) We'll magnify and maximize your inner fire
Touch, taste, feel
Two times, the dime
Cause if you boys are nice, the ladies here are clean
(We know what the men all want) And they know it isn't free

Her history is left behind
The ignorance has room to breathe
They play a part and act a scene
The prejudice and the guilty

Wouldn't it be amazing if they made a show out of this? Each act represents a season, I would throw my money at that for sure.

  5. O.... i....

You know it's one thing to conceptualize stuff like this, but it's a whole 'nother thing to write and compose it into existence. These guys are brilliant.

  6. r.... ....

The boy, Miss Leading, I love them all...

  7. R.... W....

    I love this song.

  8. P.... ....

I belt my lungs out to the "Where's her heart" part every single time.

  9. Y.... ....

this song is like my virginity

    Y.... ....

    that i lost

    Y.... ....

    k guys I'm not virgin

  10. S.... B....

    Where's her heart?

    S.... B....

Why, it's simple, it's mimicking the matriarch.

    S.... B....

David Dobarganes That doesn't say where

    S.... B....

    you're naive

  11. D.... ....

A portion of this song appears on Track 6 of the Act IV: Rebirth in Reprise near the end. Check out the entire album on my profile.

    D.... ....

In Act V “The March” has a ton of reprises from across the whole series. But the “Mimicking The matriarch” is in the end of “Night on The Town”

    D.... ....

Ian Freed also the first melody of this song, with the lyrics changed to "there's that subtle smile that did me in", such a clever way of reintroducing Ms Leading in Act IV

    D.... ....

if you really think about it they are just foreshadowing the future in their music. there are 6 song that go along with the bitter suite thats the other reason they do that.

    D.... ....

A reprisal is a repetition of an earlier introduced theme or movement, either similar or exactly the same. So rebirth in reprisal is more than just a nice album title.

    D.... ....

    Night on the town

  12. C.... D....

Bitter Suite IV-VI are coming sooooon! So excited

    C.... D....

+Christina D. And they're as amazing and one would hope

  13. H.... ....

I've heard this song over a hundred times, and I doubt it'll ever leave me without the feeling that I'm about to cry

    H.... ....

Watch them play the song. You won't feel like you are about to cry. You WILL cry.

  14. z.... ....

    @Laughingman923

    *_WHERE, BROTHER?!?_*

    s.... p....

@Date Masamune You can order them from the Cave & Canary Goods website. They also show up at their concerts, should you go to see them, which you absolutely should. I saw them in November and they were excellent, also got the GN there. There's also one issue of the second acts Graphic Novel, but it's no longer available for purchase and I have no clue when it will continue or when it will be back in print.

  19. h.... ....

Or "No More Plays on Words, We Swear".

  20. J.... A....

I'm just waiting to get rich someday and approach Casey and tell him to help me create a musical with no dialogue, just scenes on a stage doing what the lyrics say and The Dear Hunter and ALL the necesary musicians to fulfill the compositions, playing on a side live. Oh god this music is beatiful. I want Icecream.

    J.... A....

    Thats called an opera.

    J.... A....

@Bob Marley Or a musical.Hamilton has no dialogue outside of the songs. And if i'm correct Hadestown is the same I think.

  21. t.... s....

i love this song, it's so beautiful and haunting (:

  22. N.... R....

@666thehazard Their entire collection of albums is suppose to be a story. And there was talk of a movie at one time... don't know what's going on with that...

  23. C.... C....

All of their music is so theatrical. I'd absolutely love it if they ended up making a dark movie/ musical (like Sweeney Todd for example) after these. Hell this sounds better than just about anything in any other musical I've ever heard :).

  24. N.... ....

i haven't listened to the dear hunter in awhile, i don't know why. Great song
