Dear Hunter, The - An Escape Lyrics
Oh hope where have you gone
And will you ever come back to me completely
All the wholes that I've left from
Forcing everyone around my heart to leave me
There was nothing left for us
When you turned, oh, you turned your back
But in the arms of another
You were crying under the covers
For a way to escape, to escape
Oh God, where have I gone
And will I ever get the ones I tell to believe me
All the things I have done
To keep those around from learning to read me
I could tell
There was nothing left for us
When you turned, oh, you turned your back
But in the arms of another
You were crying under the covers
For a way to escape, to escape
So I guess I'm pressing on without you
I hope it goes the way you want to
But nothing ever seems like it does
And I don't believe a single word I say
(Don't believe a single word I say)
I could tell
There was nothing left for us
When you turned, oh, you turned your back
But in the arms of another
You were crying under the covers
For a way to escape, to escape

Dear Hunter, The An Escape Comments
fix your lyric typo brah..
This song takes me back to high school, good times.
A new coldplay song?
I REALLY want Anthony Green to cover this song.. Fuck it sounds so much like something Anthony would write/sing. Anyone else think so?
Rather like something Casey Crescenzo would write/sing...but yeah, Anthony could have a coverband of them - that would be closer to becoming a genius he'll ever be on his own XD
This band is SO intense live ! I mean that in a good way. Surprised the hell out of me on prog Nation at Sea how damn fine these guys were. Singer was out of his mind with fresh vocal talent, beautiful harmonies..Clean !!
The tremolo in this song is glorious.
..my...my..Body...wha....what is thi.......i....cant...... AHHHHHH
The snare on this CD is perfect.
published on my birthday :')
Unlike the people who flagged him as spam
Some say the swing is still swinging to this very day
It does have a nostalgic feel, which is wonderful and contributes to the overall composition.
If only there were more people like you in this world
No this is Patrick.
the act albums were awesome, but in my opinion, Migrant has much more passion behind it that any other album they have done yet. but every album they make is great and i dont see how you can say The color spectrum is boring considering its wide varity of music
Is this andy hull?
This is one of those songs you hear like twice and you feel like it's a favorite you've been listening to for years.
Thanks Meg
Sorcefed shout out. Fuckin love it
you can see where the gif restarts with the swing
sourcefed!!!
you are the exact opposite of every single person on youtube, respect for that comment
I do like this music, doesn't match what they accomplished with the Acts or the Color Spectrum, but definitely still enjoyable.
Reminds of Gatsby's American Dream for some reason...can't quite put my finger on it. I'm digging it though
Lmao, I love this shit. Pretentious 17 year olds judging music on technicalities or lack thereof.
It's lovely. Leave it at that.
Real wise men who don't like something just ignore it.
Yeah but this is the internet so you're wrong and I'm right.
That's what I was saying. Each is amazing in their own right.
I think you can not compare the two like this man. Apples to Oranges if you ask me. Two different concepts and creative directions were taken on each series. Music is evolution, let it move you the way Casey intended to. If you do that you will love each song in its own way imo.
Dear Hunter Fan for life.
maybe... someday... you'll learn
what? casey's voice is the definition of soul
Just a bunch of stacked textures. No soul, trivial rythms and elemental harmony.... :D
I hate to be Mr. Brightside once again, but nobody really cares about your negative opinion. I also dont want to comment on this video and add fuel to the fire, but i'm having a weak moment, so bare with me; the Youtube comments are not designed to be a contest to see who loves a band the most, who knows the most about music in general, or who has known about a band the longest. although you are entitled to say all of these things via your human rights, we would all appreciate it if you didn't.
Why are you insulting for giving his opinion? I don't agree with him, but try to be above meaningless slander.
The Color Spectrum is one of the better albums I have come across... ever...
That's a pretty cool effect for a video. A swing getting pushed by the wind, while the others are not moving.
The song is cool too.
But he's also so freaking humble that he would never admit to his amazing talents lyrically or musically.
I just saw them in ATL headlining, was by far the best set I have ever seen. They played Mustard Gas!!!! Got to talk with Conor for a little bit they are so so nice! And I got to meet Casey which was pretty awesome, told him that he genuinely inspired me on a fundamental level. Casey is a lyrical genius.
When I was a sophomore in college, my buddy sent me Battesimo del Fuoco thinking I'd like the track but not the rest of the EP (Act I). 7 years later, they are still my favorite band, and next Saturday I get to see them headline for the first time. Guys, life is good.
That just proves what i said ;)
Aaaand now we wait for "Shame" to be posted.
i'll hit the like button cuz they're talented, but they're just not my thing
The dear hunter has been my favorite band, ever since I began to know them!!
Thanks Casey C, and band!
Stop whining about the Acts and The Color Spectrum and be happy The Dear Hunter is giving us new music.
Migrant is where it's at, bitches.
I love TDH, i think the Acts are like the best thing ever.
The thing i think about taste in music:
There is music everyone can listen to, but noone really loves it.
Then there is music that some people like, and some dislike,
and even love or hate. (Then there is the Acts, where people disliking them
just have bad taste ;) )
The color spectrum is so diversive that you cant like it all.
I think lillian, crow and cackle, home, Things that hide away are superb.
But I cant listen to black.
I think it's debatable. The Acts are great, but I think The Color Spectrum was a wonderfully surprising maturing of TDH's sound. I think the fact that they can produce two entirely different sets of songwriting is a testament to how diverse their style is.
amazing! keep it up :)
Casey Blue Crescenzo. Yea, Blue.
Well damn. They did it again. Another masterpiece.
i'm about to have a shit fit i'm so excited for this album.
This is fantastic!
Yeah, I think when I was first getting into The Dear Hunter I started off with the TCS and loved it, but I wasn't particularly inclined with the Acts other than Red Hands, but once you get into them, you'll see how much better the songs are.
Hm I see what you mean. But idk, I'm a new fan and TCS is the only 'album' I've listened to all the way through. Maybe my opinions will change on it after I finish listening to all of the acts
Although I love where Migrant is going and I did enjoy TCS, I agree partially with him it, the songs are all short and follow the same pop song layout but with a different theme to them, they just have a lot that's missing to them that made the acts so amazing, all we have here is about 35 songs made perfectly for radio.
This isn't getting picked up enough on the music press which means the tours are not getting further than the States. Embed this into your facebooks and other networking pages to hopefully get the ball rolling a bit faster. Good music should be shared.
I know that the intricacies in the music on acts don't get written overnight, but I'd rather wait and get more of that proggy goodness.
You...didn't like the color spectrum?? But why? I hate to be 'that guy' but I just don't think you're taking in the color spectrum right. I mean each color has a different atmosphere that he was going for. For example blue, green, and...idk maybe yellow weren't supposed to be fast paced songs like this one. But black, purple, and red were more like this. I thought it was genius. He perfectly represented each color with his songs.
Great work casey....
i LOVE equal vision cause i found my favourite band there c:
I thought the Act stuff was over because there are 3 acts in a play and he did 3 so uhhhh having said that i love this song and will be preordering the album, great work again Casey!
Fonts? anyone?
Great song. Stoked for the album.
Just purchased my tickets to see them after the release of Migrant. I can't fucking waiiitttttttttt !
Salesman looks like its building up to be a great track. Granted I've only seen it acoustic.
Thank you, Meg Turney!
Bring this to EUROPE!!!!
Saw TDH twice in 2012 and saw Casey perform solo twice. Between those four shows, he probably played 5 or so songs from Migrant, including Whisper. I can say from what I've heard that this is hands down going to the best of all the TDH albums.
I quite agree. I personally think that Casey's songwriting has gotten better and better. I particularly love how his singing has improved as well. His voice was a little harsh at times on Act I and Act II. I still love this albums, though.
Don't get me wrong, the Act albums are fantastic pieces of art, but The Color Spectrum is "mundane and boring"? Did you even listen to it? The whole point of the series was that each color was a different expression of music. If anything, the Act albums showcase Casey's wonderful dramatic flair, but The Color Spectrum truly showcases the breadth of talent and genre-transcendence that The Dear Hunter is capable of.
Could it be that they...
*gasp*
...have a different opinion than you?
I've been infinitely disappointed by all TDH since the Act albums, as well. I don't know what everyone sees in this track. Pop-ish blandness.
Meh.
I started listen to the Dear Hunter because the Act albums were perfect, beautiful and awe-inspiring, a flawless story told with the power of music, but from the Color Spectrum and this new album, all of it is just so mundane and boring.
I have never heard ANYTHING like or better than the Act albums, so why settle for less.
April 2nd is too far away....
HAPPY DAYS!
Uber Jizz worthy!!
Apparently 2 people had a seizure while attempting to click "Like."
Man, I love those drums so much.
Anyone who downvotes this song deserves to have their ears removed
God, I preordered it when you showed us Whisper and now I'm even more excited. I got the bundle, and an extra t-shirt for my husband! We're driving 7 hours from where we live in Michigan down to Ohio to see you on April 5th!!
It seems to only be showing my 6000+ views.
Wow. This song is sugar to my ears. It takes me on a journey.
1:39...
I think I just came.
Oh hey, look - another awesome song from The Dear Hunter.
Seriously, how have they not been Grammy nominated yet?
love this so much
Will this finally get the band the recognition it deserves? Probably not. It's a sad world. I LOVE this song and I will do my best to share the album with all of my friends and perhaps my acquaintances. I'm determined to get the people of this sad world to understand that Casey is one of the greatest songwriters of all time!!
Casey Crescenzo, master of the chorus!
I haven't been this excited for an album in a loooong time. I feel like it's going to be a masterpiece.
holy shit...casey rules...
Ahhhmazing.
new favorite.
incredibleeee
Just wonderful! Can't wait for the full album
Incredible song!
This is phenomenal...
