?????? Wasn't this originally a hit for Jimmy Dean?
I just realized something very interesting. With one word at :25 Dino completely changes the character and meaning of the song from the original. Instead of "I'd" he sings "you'd. "That changes the song from an elegy sung to a deceased loved one to "I want you back" kind of song. Personally, I much prefer it the way Jimmy and Ruth wrote it. Maybe the original was just a little too heavy and tragic for old Dino?
Old Dino covers this as well as I could imagine anyone doing, but check out the version of the guy who (along with Ruth Roberts, who has her own website) wrote the song. That none other than Jimmy Dean, still very much alive at age 82.
What a crooner..none like him anymore...just great.
