Dead Kennedys - Take This Job And Shove It Lyrics
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
I will not get all the pieces
I've been working for
Just walk on out the door
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
I will not get all the pieces
I've been working for
Paper cups, minimum wage
Just walk on out the door
Take this job and shove it
They'll have you in this factory
From now on for fifty years
All this time I see my woman
Drowning in her tears
I see a lot of people who
Got to have a piece of me
I'd give the shirt right off my back
If I had the nerve to say
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
I will not get all the pieces
I've been working for
Paper cups, minimum wage
Just walk on out the door
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
Let's all go use our sick leave up
And then we'll shoot some pool
Got brand new skinhead hair cuts
You think he's a fool
One of these days I'll blow my top
Or somebody's gonna pay
I'd hate to see the process
As you enter the factory and say
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
I won't let that shit bother me
That I've been working for
Paper cups, minimum wage
Just walk on out the door
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here, ain't working here, ain't working here no more

Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
My woman left and took all the reasons I was working for
You better not try to stand in my way
When I'm walking out the door
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
My woman left and took all the reasons I was working for

The foreman is a regular S.O.B.
The night boss he's a fool
Got brand new skinhead hair cuts

And somebody's gonna pay
I'd hate to see the look on his face
When I get the nerve to say

The better version of this song, sung by a person you can understand and it doesn’t suck.
Handed in my notice last week, am so channeling this song right now...
JUST QUIT MY JOB FUCK EM
now money jello haha.
Such a kickass cover
Frankenchrist, Bedtime For Democracy, Plastic Surgery Disasters, In God We Trust Inc, Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables, Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death. In that order. Of course, if you dont like your thoughts to be provoked and just wsnt it simple, you're not going to agree. That said, not one bad album.
Thanks for the quittin' soundtrack
the worst?...is the best Album of DK dude!!!
Crazy, the other day a higher-up came in *JUST* as I started to play this album, I *COMPLETELY FORGOT* this was the *FIRST SONG* I was like *OOOOOOHHHH FUUUUUCCCCKKKKK*

Welcome in France #2017
Still getting ads on album cover. I thought you were doing something about it . .
Best cover ever.
Fuck work
I love this version! Although I couldn't really play it now, I am self employed! Lol unless I look in the mirror and play it 😂
But if you're bipolar or multiple personality type, this would be perfect!
I Like listening to this at work. I'm at work now!
I will bet a lot of kids in school want to take this school and shove it :P
Fuck you Woodies, take that job n shove it.
Johnny Paycheck

MMD: Yoshika Escapes.
Teared off ofuda on her own and place it back right to Seiga's face is satisfying.
Told my job today to take this job and shove it and as I drove home I played this song feels good
same here. spend the rest of my day smoking blunts and not giving a fuck !
Love it
fuck em mike my fav dk album too!
I absolutely don't get how anyone can say this is their weakest album. It's my favorite from the band. Chickenshit Conformist, I Spy, Cesspools In Eden alone merit that claim.
Mike Bezalel
They have no bad albums
Where do you draw the line is also an absolute beast
Its always subjective, however you are fundamentally correct that chickenshit conformist and cesspools in eden merit said claim
It was "weak" in 86 when released, because if you didn't have a lyric sheet, a lot of heads didn't understand the point of half the songs on the album. Also if you didn't go to a DK show you didn't get the whole experience. It's one thing listening to it on your stereo, totally different when your in the pit. We called it a slam pit back then , we didn't "mosh"
This album doesn't get much respect for a reason. It is by far their weakest effort.
You were your moms weakest effort
I respect your opinion. However, this just goes to show you that even their weakest effort is far from bad.
this is an abortion of a great song
@thorsmitersaw thats a great compliment
you're too low energy for this bruh
An abortion like you should have been?
The day I quit my job my one boss will get a respectful thanks for the opportunity cos hes actually cool but the rest will get stone cold stunners and fuck yous
you have to slam a few Steveweisers afterwards.
you have to slam a few Steveweisers afterwards.
Thank you, sir! I intend to fully enjoy your upload. :)
I'm so playing this song over the loudspeakers at work on my last day.
Amazing song! I like it better than the original by Johnny paycheck.
It is an amazing song. Their cover of I fought the law is a great one too.
@Cemoman17
niggaaa the original is by david allen coe
Bak Steen D. A. Coe wrote it for J. P. And recorded it later
Not me. I can actually understand the lyrics in Paycheck's version. This is pure shit.
@Kay Anthony Dick.
Fuck you Providence Warehouse in Lacey, WA! Overworked and underpaid, take this job and shove it!!
hahaha!
Monday jam
One of the best albums

@Monika Jauregui
"oh my satan!" I love it. I'm gonna have to steal that, hope you don't mind.
oh look, a bunch of dumbass's that think they can make music
You're a dumbass.
DK is revolutionary you fat fuck, get off the couch and do something with your life you inbred piece of shit
HA! Fucking idiot. What shot music do you listen to?
Matt Hodges certainly not this shit
David allan coe cover
God, I know this song could be a thousand times better. By my judgement, it sounds like TDK were more or less forced by contract to record another album even though their hearts weren't in it (and there may have been some turmoil within the band itself).
If I'm wrong, please correct, fellow youtubers!
nah i think you pretty much hit it on the head. i read about it years ago and it sounds like what i remember reading. still a cool album though!
Definitely not a contract issue since Jello and Ray owned the label they released their records on. You're definitely right that there was turmoil within the band by this point, though -- coming out the year that they broke up, this album, with its sort of massive tracklisting, was in all likelihood a rushed effort to release all of the ideas that the band had had floating around in their heads and in the backlog while they still had the chance before the band imploded.
@OriginalName90
And also the fact they got sued over their album cover. What assholes they were to do that, and then the band sued jello and now they continue on without him and they all hate jello and jello hates them now.
Frankenchrist is obviously the worst DK record....... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
They don't have a bad record, and I enjoyed the music on it.
You gotta understand, my man... DK is one of my favorite bands ever. Saying something is my least favorite DK record is as painful a decision as saying something is my least favorite Ozzy/Sabbath record. (Technical Ecstasyl
Frankenchrist is my favorite, Bedtime is second
Thx 4 the upld!
Holy shit, this song is basically sped-up surf rock. The Dead Kennedys were such a unique band.
speed country basically
This band was basically (usually sped up) demented surf rock.
wow. I didn't know people disliked this album so much... It's awesome.
I'm about to quit my job and I am going to blue tooth this to an amp
101AlexHutch did you do it???
still in my buckett list...
This song is hilariously awesome.
i liked frankechrist better
David Allen Coe did the original version.
is the best album for me, more hardcore punk and all the song are awesome !!!
Very weak.
Yes you are
It has Chickenshit Conformist on it, therefore it is a GREAT album just for having that song.
Cinduke here. I actually like this song.
Jello was actually 30 years before his time. :()
They didn't like because it challenge them to take direct action, instead of drinking themselves to death
I like DK, I like Johnny Paycheck, and I even liked David Allan Coe's version of this song. However, DK simply does not do a good cover of this song.
Simply. Wrong.
F@CK RETAIL!!
the pay sucks, as well as a bunch of other things suck around here too. does this sound like you
Take This Job and Shove It. still waitin to......
Strange I've always thought Frankenchrist was their weakest album... Different folks for different strokes I guess
Is this a cover of Johnny Paycheck or did Johnny cover this?
this album fucking rocks i dont know what the fuck else people be crazy to think
quit my fuckin terrible call centre job today
TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT
Johnny Paycheck Cover
Reminds me of what I said to my cleaning supervisor lol.
Not their worst in my opinion, i reckon that goes to Frankenchrist. Thanks for uploading!! Respect.
quit my awful fucking job today!
Sounds like my current job situation...
this was my first DK song I ever heard, and it didn't do anything but spark my interest. great album.
today my boss, who is also my uncle, blew up at me for refusing to work more than 56 hours a week. So this one is dedicated to you Kent. You're a fucking asswipe!
Also, I'm obviously not counting Ep's or compilation albums.
Totally agree with you in saying this is their worst.
1. Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables
2. Plastic Surgery Disasters
3.Frankenchrist
4.Bedtime for Democracy.
And just because he said it's their worst, doesn't mean he dislikes the album.
