De La Soul - Eye Know Lyrics

[POS:]
Greetings, girl, and welcome to my world of phrase
I'm right up to bat
It's a Daisy Age and you're about to walk top-stage
So wipe your Lottos on the mat
Hip-hop love this is and don't mind when I quiz your
Involvements before the sun
But clear your court 'cause this is a one-man sport
And who's better for this than Plug One
Now you don't have to worry about me squashin' other deals
'Cause they've already been squooshed
Freeze a frame about moods the same which we can continue
Right behind the bush
You'll stay with me
Eye Know this
But not because of all my earthly treasures
Or regardless to the fact that I'm Posdnuos
But because

(Eye know Eye love you better)

[DOVE:]
May I cut this dance to introduce myself as
The chosen one to speak
Let me lay my hand across yours
And aim a kiss upon your cheek
They name's Plug Two
And from the soul I bring you
The Daisy of your choice
May it be filled with the pleasure principle
In circumference to my voice
About those other Jennys I reckoned with
Lost them all like a homework excuse
This time the Magic Number is two
'Cause it takes two, not three, to seduce
My destiny of love is brought to an apex
Sex is a mere molecule
In this world of love that I have for you
It's true

(Eye know Eye love you better)

[POS:]
Now it's time to let this rhyme style
Get somewhat poured in the mold
Hold my hand and we'll pick my plantation
Of Daisies for a bouquet of Soul
Life will begin at the cut of a rim
Take it as filled to the rim as in brim
Squeeze your stoop like Betty Boop
We'll make Campbell's Alphabet Soup
And spell Plug One's within
Forward march is the say
When transistors will play
Come into bed is the mood
Dolby sound will be then top crowned
When I put the needle into your groove
I got a good thing
And in full swing
I show this in gifts, words or letters
But even without those three
Eye know you'll be close to me 'cause

(Eye know I love you better)

[DOVE:]
It's I again and the song that I send
Is taking steps to reach your heart
Any moment you feel alone
I can fill up your empty part
We can ascend 'till we reach De La Heaven
And in a spin we'll hit the Top Ten
Then we will meet Mr Stuckie
And Pos' brother Lucky will preach
Let the wedding begin
Shot by an arrow of cupid
Through the string of a G-clef
My dear, I claim you're def
And if you can hear me, by golly gee,
Trugoy is ready for what you posess
We could live in my Plug Two home
And on Mars where we could be all alone
And we make a song for two,
Picture perfect things and I sing of how

(Eye know I love you better)

De La Soul and Zulu Nation through the universe 😎

  14. m.... ....

Was listening to Peg a few minutes ago and remembered this, had to come find this 💎

  15. M.... S....

When I liked rap. Today’s rappers are fucking hideous

  16. t.... ....

    Before hip-hop was shit.

  17. J.... P....

one of my for sure top ten songs ever and I only realized it has a video TODAY 30 years after falling in love with it!

  18. R.... T....

November 1989 what a song. love the video, off the' three feet high and rising' album. Brilliant memories

  19. K.... A....

over the years Eye Know has become such a bittersweet song for me- so sweet in sound and message but bitter that i've lost so much of that innocent wide-eyed anticipation of my youth. That only means this song aged well as it still tugs right at my heartstrings. Love you De La Soul. Keep making music.

  20. K.... A....

this was Thee Love Song of my Youth. Any time i had a crush on a girl, this was me sonically lifted off my feet by butterflies with my heart in the clouds. Thank you, De La, Thank You!

  21. k.... ....

its sad that hiphop like this is never ever coming back

    k.... ....

    Hopefully one day it will

  22. j.... g....

ISSA VIBE SAMPLED THS ??? 😱

  23. B.... C....

Great album..3 feet high and rising.
    Love these guys.

  24. I.... w....

    ONE love

  25. B.... S....

I scooped up the “vinyl me please” pressing of this album about a year ago. So glad I did, as this one isn’t available anywhere else. This album completely changed how I felt about hip hop as an art form. It was a quantum leap for the genre.

  26. F.... ....

This song and video give me huge Parappa vibes, I love it.

  27. M.... ....

1 of the 2 best rap albums ever made - '3 feet high and rising" & Public Enemy's "It takes a nation of millions to hold us back".

  28. j.... j....

Need more De La Soul on Spotify

  29. S.... L....

    Wit a tune

  30. A.... P....

What a nice and joyful song!:)

  31. G.... R....

Late 80's and 90's rappers loved sampling white soft rock a lot, didn't they?

  32. D.... 7....

One of the first albums I bought, 3 feet high and rising, took it to my girlfriend's house and a few weeks later we split up and I never got it back! This song reminds me of that bitch :)

  33. n.... m....

FRANKIE HI-NRG MC mi ha portato qui.

  34. j.... ....

    My first single..

  35. S.... M....

Boycotting Tommy Boy records after today. So sad that I won't be able to hear this stuff for a while, but I dont want them to profit off of anymore injustice to artists

    S.... M....

    Well said Stella

  36. R.... ....

I'd happily thanos wipe half of the spotify library to get De La Soul on there.

  37. I.... P....

this song is honestly just the best

  38. H.... T....

    Happy times

    Happy tunes

    Uplifting

    When life was fun ...:-)))))

    Yep I’m 47 !!!

Where did the years go ?

  39. A.... T....

I wish hip hop like this would make a comeback, so colorful and uplifting whilst being so lyrically brilliant

    A.... T....

    Style over substance now.
Its music for zombies and hipsters.
Music died a long time ago.

  40. F.... P....

This was the song what got me into hip-hop and the Native Tongues.

  41. T.... T....

    Fuck Tommy Boy

  42. C.... L....

    From my hometown --- !

  43. C.... C....

    Fuck Tommy Boy

  44. H.... A....

It's a shame that the metaphor went over, and still does, most people's heads. Even their song 'Memory of (Us)' on their latest album ' The Anonymous Nobody', no-one spotted the metaphor for Hip-Hop. Listen carefully to the lyrics of both songs and tell me it's not in any way describing a girl called Hip-Hop; genius is never appreciated in a community full of ignorants...

  45. s.... ....

Trugoy verse was one of the 1st raps i learned just to get girls back in my school days ...... still a favorite!

  46. O.... t....

Love De La Soul and this track is my favourite 👍🏾👊🏽👏🏽

  47. A.... ....

    Love this joint!

  48. N.... M....

Its insane man, I was born in 89 and grew up with all the samples in this and more. Then in my time these amazing guys used it to bring me to a new level

  49. b.... ....

You fucked up, Tommy Boy. These guys are one of the greatest rap acts of NYC and the world and y'all can't even give them their master tapes and profits. 😤

  50. D.... S....

Tommy Boy you are a disgrace.

Instead of giving these Men what they deserve you are exploiting their creativity.

  51. R.... T....

Nice sample off Steely Dan's Peg!

  52. 1.... s....

Plug 1 cmon guys i mean this is when artists were in their prime and didn't have lame names

    1.... s....

10,000 subscribers with 7 videos you not lying. Most of todays artist are named after
    Guns
    Drugs
Etc. Back than the names even meant something and was better just like the lyrics

  53. .... ....

Respect DLS and fuck Tommy Boy

  54. N.... ....

This album got me thru being on punishment...thank you De La ❤

  59. D.... W....

About those others Jenny’s I reckoned with lost them all like a homework excuse this time the magic number is two cause it take two not three to seduce 🤯

  60. A.... T....

This steely dan sample fucking rocks!

  61. P.... P....

Tommy Boy is stinky and mean and bad and I hate them

  62. p.... ....

I love this song.. hiphop is in my soul 🙏🏾

  63. D.... K....

Back when real artists made it on *pure talent* - instead of a trendy image and a million dollar video full of naked chicks and airtight choreography. These dudes are wearing whatever they happened to throw on before going to the studio and casually bobbing along with the music in front of a green screen. It's all about the music and none of the bullshit.

  64. d.... j....

I'm 33 years old they way before my time and I love they music it relax me 100%

  65. A.... T....
