DC Talk - Alas, My Love Lyrics

"Alas my love, you say goodbye
Wipe the poison from my brow
Alas my love, this guilty night
It gives me up like a foster child
And in this moment I take my vow
These angels sleeping at my feet
And in this moment you do not know how
How my spirit wants to flee"
You see it was one man against the night

Taking on a multitude
That had left Him high and dry
No candle burning vigil could light the way
Darkness hit the ground like a fallen satellite
He wrestled until morning
With human souls and dark angels
And there He finished His work
On the third day

DC Talk Alas, My Love Comments

I remember track and it scares me when I was a kid

  2. E.... S....

    Love K-Max's spoken poetry

  3. T.... N....

Anyone know if this poem is any direct reference to something else. I'm ok with questions I can't answer, just curious who the narrator was who finished his work on the third day

    T.... N....

The poem is about Jesus and the pain, suffering, death, burial and resurrection He willingly endured for mankind. Kevin Max is the speaker.

    Nice bringing it together:)

Oh wow wish I'd bought the CD.... Was this on the original CD in 1995 or just the new one"?

+africkinamerican Unlisted track on the original cd. I only heard it by accident because I listened to the whole disc while falling asleep.

I think the original also had this one. But there was a trick: there was approx. 1 minute of silence after the intro sound. So usually people found this one after a while when the CD player just went on and they did not stop it. :)

Same. The reply didn't work, but I too discovered this track cause I left it on as I was trying to sleep.

Hidden track. The back of the cd case has the track listing with 13, the title intentionally blocked. But it’s on the live album Welcome to he Freak Show (1997) as “Alas, My Love”.

I hear this track when playing call of duty

1 part of the album is missing from that play list. Stephen Hawking doing a little rap.

One of the best albums of all time!!! I remember this was the bonus track on the CD. It would come on after you'd been doing something else for like 20 minutes and had forgotten all about it. Then this dark poem (in a godly way) and music (isn't it in 7/4 time or something?) would hit you—like a fallen satellite—thanks for posting!

Always dug the jamming, almost more than the actual poem.
