I didn't know that. In retrospect, it would seem a particularly odd choice for such a context (particularly a teen pageant), insofar as the premise of the song is a woman offering herself up sexually in language that is plain, direct and insistent.

Then again, I guess one could argue that that sexual dimension made it the PERFECT song for a pageant, since pageants (particularly ones like Miss USA, which do not incorporate a talent component or social service platform requirement) are predicated on ranking beauty and sexual desirability. Perhaps there was a pageant planner behind the scenes with a highly ironic sense of humor who insisted they use the track for the broadcast...?

Tell It To My Heart was also used for the Top 10 announcement for Florida at that same Miss USA pageant. Makes a bit more sense since some critics said that song had that "Miami sound" to it, in the manner of Expose. Also makes since since Taylor recently bought a Miami Beach condo.

She has strong vocals, which I love.

The original version is so much better than this one, and the Armand Van Helden"s version is good, but Siedah Garrett is the best.

Both Ladies (like with Chaka Khan and Tina Turner esp.) exploited their very Womanly BOLD brass, pizzazz, and straight-up Sass just straight-from-the-shoulder-you'll-take-it-like-it-or-to-hell-with-you delivery! Very quintessentially invigoratingly (witchcraft-like) femenine liberated independent erotic style of 1980's pop cuts back then with many female artists. The girls nowadays in pop are...hm...just lost that! Well...was seriously nice while it lasted.
