Davis, Mac - Memories Lyrics

Memories
Pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories
Sweetened through the ages just like wine

Quiet thoughts come floating down
And settle softly to the ground
Like golden autumn leaves around my feet
I touched them and they burst apart with
Sweet memories

Sweet memories
Of lollipops and red bouquets
And twilight trimmed in purple haze
And laughing eyes and simple ways
And quiet nights and gentle days with you

[?]

Oh, what would I do without my
Sweet memories
Sweet memories

Memories
Pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories
Sweetened through the ages just like wine

Quiet thoughts come floating down
And settle softly to the ground
Like golden autumn leaves around my feet
I touched them and they burst apart with
Sweet memories
Sweet memories
Sweet memories

  1. G.... D....

    So quietly beautiful.

  2. G.... P....

I am not a Mac Davis fan know very little about him, I am however a life time devoted fan of Elvis and I must say I prefer this version to Elvis version!

  3. D.... S....

MANY MANY YEARS AGO I WENT TO ONE OF HIS CONCERTS, HE WAS WITH HELEN REDDY. A GREAT SONG. THANK YOU MAC DAVIS

  4. o.... b....

Mac said he wrote this song in one night so Elvis could record it on a “B” side the next day! The man was so talented!

  5. R.... C....

Usually the person or persons who wrote the song does it better than anyone else. Elvis did it great of course, but Davis has the edge in my opinion.

  6. N.... c....

One of the best voices ever. So easy to listen to.

  7. D.... D....

I first heard this wonderful song by Elvis thought it was a great song but after hearing this far the best version so beautifully sung this tops it by far . . Wonderful .

MY MOM PASSED AWAY ONE DAY BEFORE HER BIRTHDAY,,,,,,,,,,LOVE YOU MOM

  9. g.... ....

Arranged by the legendary Artie Butler.

  10. P.... P....

Mac Davis never got the recognition he deserved. I think he lost his creditbility after the Hard to be Humble song.

    Princess Pancake

I don’t know why “It’s Hard To Be Humble” would cause such a problem since it actually made fun of people that thought too highly of themselves. It is musical satire.

I saw Mac Davis perform this last week at The Elvis Week in Memphis and he sang those extra verses and told some funny and sad stories of his own memories. Great to see him.

  12. c.... ....

Mac Davis is a true gentleman and deserves all the success that life can give him Glen Campbell is another story.  When Campbell's wife threw him out for drinking and having affairs with other women, Mac Davis was  kind enough to extend a hand to his friend and opened his home to Campbell. With nowhere to really go Glen accepted the invitation and was welcomed to stay as long as it took to get his life back together. Why Mr. Campbell was so appreciative that while Mac was out on concert  tours, Glen stepped in and was screwing his wife so she wouldn't get lonely. . I guess Glen wanted to keep her warmed up for when Mac got home. Niece guy ?  Drunken hillbilly with no morals. Mac being the gentleman that he is never trashed Campbell for betraying him nor did he trash his wife for screwing  good ole boy Glen.  A higher spirit gave Mac a new wife and a new life.  Mac Davis an artist that has set the bar very high and is a very talented person with a golden voice and a personality to match.

I like this version much better than his speeded up one.

  15. R.... C....

This is truly a GREAT SONG - WRITTEN AND SUNG BY MAC DAVIS, IT JUST DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS,,,, ROGER C.

Have you heard Elvis' version? He doesn't sing all the verses, but it is far superior in my opinion. One of my favourites sung by Elvis. Mac is a good songwriter, though sometimes a bit soppy.

  16. G.... M....

    good one ...

  17. A.... M....

    I agree with you Vic.

  18. V.... D....

I always like Mac's version over Elvis's and that is saying something.

    V.... D....

    I agree Vic
