Davis Jr., Sammy - My Way Lyrics

And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I'm certain

I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way

Regrets, I've had a few
But then again too few to mention
Did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption

Planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it my way

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now as tears subside
I find it all so amusing to think I did all that
And may I say not in a shy way

Oh no, oh no, not me
I did it my way

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way

Sammy was 3 years when his mother gave him to his father. She keep her daughter but abandon Sammy... he didn't see his mother again until he was around 12 years of age. A lot of people don't know this, but he never went to school, because of performing on road with his father. When he went into the military is when they discovered he could not read and they helped him from that point on...

It makes me so mad I hear about Ray Charles and James Brown, and they are both brilliant. On tv, radio, online, and movies all the time how they paved the way. Without Sammy there would have been no James Brown or Ray Charles period. Who runs his estate. Who ever it is needs to have the history, talent, and legacy of this man be told to the new generation. I would bet 80 percent of millennials don't even know who he is!

    C.... M....

Ikr he doesn't get the recognition he so deserves today.

Many, many years ago I had the privilege to assist to a Sammy Davis solo performance in a Broadway theatre. All I can say at my 86 years is that I consider Sammy's the best ever solo musical show that I was privileged to enjoy. With this starting he made master works of each song he sang. May he rest in peace because he was a humble man that made millions of followers.

As a little boy I actually got to see that Stutz car in the Beverly Hills dealership before Sammy picked it up:) The floors and trunk were all lined with mink fur. It cost $70,000! A new Rolls Royce was only $23,000. A V-12 Ferrari was $15,000:)

  34. R.... B....

Sammy Davis was the greatest performer I have seen and he could do it all. He and his good friend Frank Sinatra would like me very much because Im another Black man that can do Sinatra like Sinatra. No Brag just facts Im Reginald Blackwell The Black Sinatra in America.
