David Gray is one of the most amazing artists that I have ever heard. Lately

White Ladder was the featured CD playing in a bookstore back in 1998 (geez, that whole sentence is "a thing of the past" now, isn't it? Kinda like "hanging out at the counter of the soda fountain"... ANYWAY...it was love from that moment on! I have listened to DG maybe 48 weeks out of every year, burnt out on him, reconnected, got busy, dove in head first, took a breather, put a playlist on repeat..20 years now. Today, I started another bender. So grateful for my hearing!

really was hoping you would play this at the Mann last summer. this song resonates so much for me with my own heart,. took my son to this show. he was my best friend. he was good to his mom. he thought you were amazing.! i said i know right! he passed away last February. thank you David. it was a memorable night shared with my 24 year old son. first time i have been able to listen to you again. the melody helps. love to you and your family!

Do you ever get so caught up in wanting and needing something so bad, you have this fire that feels like it's eating a hole deep inside of you?

Morning or night, it doesn't leave you be, ever. Somedays are clearly better than others, but there are those days when you can't think of nothing else. And even sometimes, the fire burns so damn hot, it's hard to breathe...yeah.

The uphill climb to chasing a dream, and I know at some point soon, I'm going to have to let it all go and trust it in the hands of fate.

And that, my friends, is where the fear lies.
In the unknowing. In the place where control isn't allowed.

But for now, I will try to just catch my breath. And Breathe.

I would say he is definitely inspired by Van Morrison...This tune for sure, as it has that long, drawn out, free-flowing lyricism & music that Morrison has done so much of...Definitely a strong Dylan influence in his music too.
