David Crowder Band - O, For A Thousand Tongues To Sing Lyrics

Oh, for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer's praise
The glories of my God and King
The triumphs of His grace

My gracious Master and my God
Assist me to proclaim
To spread through all the earth abroad
The honors of Thy name

So come on and sing out
Let our anthem grow loud
There is one great love

Jesus, the name that charms our fears
That bids our sorrows cease
'Tis music in the sinner's ears
'Tis life and health and peace

He breaks the power of canceled sin
He sets the prisoners free
His blood can make the foulest clean
His blood availed for me

He speaks and listening to His voice
New life the dead receive
The mournful broken hearts rejoice
The humble poor believe

Glory to God and praise and love
Be ever, ever giv'n
By saints below and saints above
The church in earth and Heav'n

There are so few words
That never grow old
There are so few words
That never grow old

Excellent update!...🌺🌼🌸 "O My friends, listen with heart and soul to the songs of the
spirit, and treasure them as thine own eyes." ~ Baha’u’llah, The Seven Valleys 🌷🌹💐

Why all the discourse and criticism over a song that praises God? I too grew up with and love the Wesley original version but it doesn't stop me from appreciating this version as well. Why do some seem to think the existence of this new song subtracts from the original? It only takes inspiration from the original and becomes something totally new. Why can the two not coexist as separate worthy praises to God? If this song in this version reaches even one soul for Christ then it has been used for God's purposes. We should celebrate any effort to praise God through Christ done with sincerity. Focus on the love and the rest will take care of itself.....

    Such an awesome song!

I think the music is great. Hymns has great meaning to it, add music that this generation listens to it. Good idea!!

  6. NicAlish

For those complaining about the music- you do realise Charles Wesley used Pub tunes of the day for his hymns as they were popular with the ordinary people. So in the same vein I would definitely think Wesley would have approved - if its good enough for him then to bring Gods message alive its good enough now to reach out to a new generation.

I love this, great hymn and fantastic production.

  8. Andy Hogue

One of these days, I'm going to produce a bunch of David Crowder songs and put old hymns in the middle.

  9. Elaine Bernard

I'm 80 years old and I love this version, too!  I grew up on the original-I've been blessed with a great musical repertoire of hymns and popular songs.  Not many I don't know and I feel so blessed to have had this in my life!  My Mother and Dad could both play the old pump organ and we'd gather around the organ and sing-all 10 of us siblings.  We also had great harmony.  So blessed to have had Christian music!!!

The sun comes up; It's a new day dawning. It' time to sing Your song again.  Whatever may pass, and whatever lies before me, let me be singing when the evening comes.

  11. Chris Stewart

No matter what, this song of praise, nearly 300 years old, still has the fire and Spirit in it that was there when it was first written. I was brought up to sing it with another tune but the orignal words still ring true. Chris Stewart x
